For those who suffer with  Paraskevidekatriaphobia, Friggatriskaidekaphobia, and/or Triskaidekaphobia, I do not have to remind you of this.. for the rest of you.. IT'S FRIDAY THE 13TH!

---
Yesterday began the year long 100th Anniversary ceremony to commemorate the relationship of Columbus and Ft Benning. Descendants of the civilian leaders of Columbus of the WWI era that campaigned for the establishment of Ft Benning were invited to attend the ceremony..My brother Elliott and I, and our wives were invited. Our family has always held Ft Benning close to our hearts, but yesterday, Ft Benning showed how feels about the Columbus community connection..We are in safe, capable hands!

---
I cannot believe the L-E didn't have this picture of Mayor Tom-LYING-son at the ground-breaking for a suitable 100th Anniversary marker for the Columbus/Ft Benning Partnership:

Of course it shows Mayor Tom-LYING-son enjoying "shoveling it". but at least "it" is only dirt

From the "is this what mainscream media got out of it" department - Online headline/story: "Trump nails Obamacare with decision to cut off billions in subsidies * U.S. President Donald Trump moved to undermine Obamacare dramatically late on Thursday by cutting off subsidies to health insurance companies for low-income patients, sparking threats of legal action and concern of chaos in insurance markets." -- Good grief.. Trump eliminated the confines of states' borders for insurance companies to reach out to all Americans with competitive rate healthcare coverage. Shutting down the subsidies pretty much insures the cost cutting of wasteful and duplicate charges that taxpayers get stuck with paying in addition to their own family coverage. Yes! America is BACK!

From the "a juror wanted to find the Menendez brothers 'not guilty of shooting their parents because 'now they're orphans'!" department - Online headline/story: "Charges dropped against teen who decapitated mother because he 'felt like it' * Deputies responded to a call placed by 18-year-old Oliver Mauricio Funes Machada about a gruesome crime he had committed at his house on March 6, 2017. * According to a search warrant, Machado told the 911 operator he stabbed his mother "like 8 times" and that he did so "because I felt like it." * When responders first arrived, Machada allegedly walked out of his home holding his mother's severed head in one hand and a butcher's knife in the other.* Officers then found the body of 35-year-old Yesenia Funes Beatriz Machado inside the home, along with two young girls who were unharmed. * Although Machada was originally charged with first-degree murder, the sheriff's office said on Wednesday that the charge was dropped after the teen was found to be incapable of proceeding. * Machado will be released from prison and moved to Central Regional Hospital in Butner for involuntary commitment" ---What are the sheriff and judge thinking! The fact that the (_*_) did not kill the two young girls (sisters?) at that time show he was in charge of his faculties.. and now we'll have to be concerned of a liberal judge down the road releasing him back into society because he never got a speedy trial.

---
Online story: "“Blade Runner 2049,’’ the reboot of the 1982 cult classic about a dystopian future in Los Angeles, disappointed in its three-day opening, posting $31.5 million in ticket sales that was below the lower end of expectations of industry watchers." -- You know... a film that hoped to appeal to it's 1982 audience and flopped because the 1982 audience is more upset at supporting 2017 Hollywood than it is to see a 35-year older cast of it's past heroes.

---
From the "who knew" department - Online headline/story: "Court lifts injunction against Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott, clears way for ban * The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans voted 2-1 in favor of the NFL, which requested an emergency hearing after a district court in Texas blocked the suspension last month. * The appeals court ordered the Texas court to dismiss Elliott's case" -- Wow,, who knew that there was a majority of patriotic American judges on any fed court of appeals panel?

---
From the "talk about being surprised: department - Online story: "The Justice Department has given four major U.S. cities a "last chance" to prove they are not so-called sanctuary cities before losing millions of dollars in critical crime-fighting aid, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Thursday. * Chicago, New Orleans, New York and Philadelphia were all determined to have "laws, policies or practices" that violated a federal statute that requires jurisdictions to comply with federal immigration officials and help to deport suspected undocumented immigrants held in local jails, according to the department. * Sanctuary cities are local governments that limit police cooperation with federal immigration authorities." -- Wow.. I was so expecting San Francisco to be #1 on this list based on stories of violent crimes committed by illegal aliens.. What I'm not surprised at is the mayors of all those cities...

---
Online story: "New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D.) plans to keep more than half of the campaign donations he received from Democratic donor and Hollywood film mogul Harvey Weinstein after it was revealed last week that he had settled sexual harassment claims with at least eight different women. * The New York Times and the New Yorker both published explosive reports in the last week about multiple women who accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct and harassment that spanned almost three decades. Pressure on lawmakers and candidates to return campaign donations from the Democratic donor soon followed. * Cuomo, who has positioned himself for a potential 2020 presidential run, has raised $110,400 from Weinstein or his film studio. He is now facing criticism for not donating all the funds received from Weinstein, according to Politico." -- What is it with Democrats? I believe they "feel" that donations to their re-election are their personal money... it's not! It's also not theirs to dole out to charity.. at best using other people's money to buy support for charities is deplorable. (Hey Hellary,, this is a better definition of "deplorable than you have!) The greedy politicians need only to have their campaign treasurer pen a check back to Weinstein.. If they are going to claim it as their own charity deduction, then IRS should be taxing the donation - - and rule it illegal in this situation - at unreported income.

---
Online headline: "Jane Fonda: I knew about Harvey Weinstein and kept quiet" -- Hmmm.. and it fits right in with her wanting "to keep quiet" about her Vietnam traitor trip.

---
How neat..we were watching "Beat Bobby Flay" last night and one of the challenging chefs was Dean Fearing of Dallas, Texas. My bride and I recognized him immediately..we met him at his restaurant (Fearing's) at the Dallas Ritz-Carlton on our trip this summer when he came to our table to wish us a "happy Anniversary". If you get the opportunity, put dining there on your "bucket list"...food, service. atmosphere were top notch!

---
Online "HeadLIE"/story: "House Republicans Make Huge Move On Trump’s Tax Reform Plan * The legislation passed in a 219-206 vote, with lawmakers essentially voting across party lines. Eighteen Republicans and every single Democrat voted against the bill." -- There's nothing "huge" about 18 Republicans siding with Democrats not to give a middle-class tax cut.. will publish their names when I find them.

---
You know.. with all the conversation about Korea and Iran and the nuclear issues, how come we haven't seen John Kerry' name or face in any conversations?

---
L-E headline/story: "Henderson’s resignation timing critical to council * "STAYING UNTIL QUALIFYING HAD BEEN MY PLAN, BUT NOW I HAVE UNTIL FEBRUARY TO EVALUATE THIS. IF IT IS BETTER TO PULL A ‘PLAN B,’ THEN WE CAN DO THAT. … I AM NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING THAT WILL HARM THIS COMMUNITY. * Columbus Councilor Skip Henderson" -- You know.. when the Democrats changed to a non-partisan election, and moved the election date away from the General election date to hopefully avoid runoffs when it's candidate got 45% of the vote (trying to avoid anther Wyche Fowler loss), Columbus taxpayers really got"the shaft". We need our primary races moved back to August when people vacation times are over, and have our main election in November when everybody is around to have a chance to vote.
