Online story: " In a rare show of unity, U.S. President Donald Trump praised all five of his living predecessors on Saturday, thanking them in a video for their work helping to raise funds to aid victims of recent hurricanes. * His video statement, which commends Americans for coming together in the wake of four hurricanes and the deadly California wildfires, was shown at Saturday's fund-raising concert for hurricane victims organized by the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation and former presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. All five attended the event, which features artists Alabama, Lady Gaga, the Gatlin Brothers, Robert Earl Keene and others. * Lady Gaga tweeted, "Nothing more beautiful than everyone putting their differences aside to help humanity in the face of catastrophe. " -- The real question is why there are "differences" ..."to put aside"..all of then should have been on the side of "truth, justice, and the American way", and not "what will make me popular with mainscream media and 3rd World despots.

Online headline: "Why is Amazon buying up mall property?" -- Talk about ironic.. the same company that has sent so many "brick and mortar" business to an early closure with it's Internet connection with customers, is now buying "brick and mortar" complexes as "fulfillment centers" to store and ship merchandise to those same customers.

I saw a local billboard here in Columbus Saturday that would have gotten me a "distracted driving" ticket... if I'd been driving... On the 13th Street Viaduct, while heading west, there was a billboard for Bud Light connecting itself with the Atlanta Falcons...I though to myself.. Bud has enough on it's plate disassociating itself with the NFL players disrespecting our flag, and now it wants to promote itself as a Falcons' fan?

You know.. there was a time that Bus was 100% American, and supporting the NFL may have been something it could recover from, but since it's mow a Belgium based company, supporting disrespect of our flag and National Anthem takes on a different perspective. Brands to avoid:

Random Thought: How v=can any player say he/she is "in the game" when they throw a Race Card, Gender Card, or Alternative Sex Card, when the rules of effective completion of the game plan requires each player to follow suit?

Online story: "Jimmy Carter, the 93-year-old former Democratic president, says he is willing to go to North Korea on a diplomatic mission for President Trump amid the escalating tensions over nuclear weapons." -- Good grief.. what makes Cuzzin Jimmy "feel" Trump would even trust him as back-up waterboy on his negotiating team?

---

Can you believe it.. It's been 3 weeks since the tragic massacre happened in Las Vegas, and Nevada Democrats are still praying and praising Las Vegas law enforcement personnel..

L-E headline/story: "COLUMBUS STATE UNIVERSITY * New downtown building to have distinct piece of public art dedicated * The artwork was completely funded by private donors who have asked to remain anonymous. * The placement of work is in the entrance area on 12th Street that connects the new structure with the renovated, historic Ledger-Enquirer building. * “It injects itself to bring the new and old together,” Barnes said. “It has great character and has a lot of value, probably more so than a painting on the walls.”" -- First, let me thank the L-E for answering a question up front about whether this was privately funded.. (it is) or was tax dollars that would be paid for by parents of students paying for the "CSU experience". Secondly, when are the libs going to attack architect Will Barnes for his "insensitive " statements about the various "wall murals" in the Downtown area?

L-E headline: "RED RIBBON WEEK * Drugs in Columbus: Like a crime hurricane" -- Hmmm.. now why didn't the L-E run this type of series when it would have been more effective..like during the re-election campaign of Mayor "We ain't got no crime/gang problem" Tom-LYING-son .

---
L-E headline: "L-E story: "President Donald Trump says he doesn’t plan to block the scheduled release of thousands of never publicly seen documents related to President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. * The National Archives has until Thursday to disclose the remaining files related to Kennedy’s 1963 assassination. The trove is expected to include more than 3,000 documents that have never been seen by the public and more than 30,000 that have been previously released but with redactions." -- You know, it's been almost 54 years since JFK was assassinated on National TV in front of God and everybody.. I believe that the only reason to have concealed the facts for this long was to keep someone living.. or their family.. from public scrutiny.. If not, there is no other reason to have kept these facts "buried". Go Trump!

L-E headline: "Some Democrats see Niger deaths as Trump’s Benghazi" -- Amazing.. I do believe this is probably the first time any Democrats have acknowledged Benghazi as theirs...

---
From the "liberals now feel they will win" department - L-E headline/story: "Mexico jumps into battle over Texas ‘sanctuary city’ law * The government of Mexico has aligned itself with municipalities suing the state of Texas over a new law that, if implemented, would crack down on sanctuary cities, arguing that the state’s action hurts Mexico’s relationship with Washington. * “Given the importance of the international relationship between the U.S. and Mexico, it is essential that Mexico be able to approach its discussions with one consistent negotiating partner rather than having to enter into 50 different negotiations with each state regarding the type and extent of immigration enforcement that will occur in that state,” the Mexican government writes in an amicus brief filed late Thursday night." -- Good grief.. what I'm hearing is the Mexican government telling the US that they don't want their own citizens who have become illegal aliens in America to come home again.. Now.. that said, why does anyone in the US want to be 'nursemaiding" Mexican citizens that Mexico doesn't want?

From Columbus Council Agenda "DECLARATION OF SURPLUS AND DONATION OF MAT-TRESSES : It is requested that council declare approximately 75 mattresses as surplus, in accordance with section 7-501 of the Charter of Columbus Consolidated Government; and authorize the donation of the surplus equipment to the following non-profit entities: Valley Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, Hope Harbor Battered Women’s Shelter, Open Door Community House, House of Mercy and Safe House Rose Hill United Methodist. * The mattresses are vinyl coated, with no stains or wear and were purchased in 2011 at $109 each. The Fire/EMS Department wishes to declare the mattresses as surplus because they were purchased to replace old mattresses at the Fire Stations; however, the Department determined the mattresses did not work well for their needs." -- I applaud that good use will come out of an obviously not-properly-researched purchase made with tax dollars, but is Council going to make sure that people involved in the original purchase are held responsible in some way?

From Columbus Council Agenda: "AUTHORIZE THE IMPOSITION AND COLLECTION OF LAW LIBRARY FEES IN MAGISTRATE COURT OF MUSCOGEE COUNTY:

The Board of Trustees of the Muscogee County Law Library requests that the legislative delegation propose legislation that would authorize the Chief Judge of the Magistrate Court to charge and collect, as part of its court costs, a fee of $5 per action or case filed as an additional revenue source for the Muscogee County Law Library. * Pursuant to Subsections (a),(d) and (e) of O.C.G.A. 36-15-9, the Muscogee County Law Library currently receives funding from the Superior, State, Probate, Recorders and Municipal Courts in the amount of $5 per action or case filed. These five courts of record serve as the primary source of funding for the law library." -- You know, has eliminating ALL such fees from all court considerations been discussed.. seems to me that individual lawyers should be held accountable for providing any necessary references a judge needs for consideration, and all the lawyers get the info from the I-net now..

From Columbus Council Agenda: "CASINO GAMING REFERENDUM: The Columbus Consolidated Government is requesting the legislative delegation introduce or support legislation to authorize a statewide referendum for a constitutional amendment to allow Georgia citizens to vote as to whether casino gaming should be allowed in Georgia for the purpose of Hope Scholarship funding. Further, if any such constitutional amendment is adopted, this council requests a local referendum be established for approval or rejection of any such casino gaming in Muscogee County. (Carryover from 2017- Request of Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Turner Pugh and Councilor Evelyn Mimi Woodson) To provide Hope Scholarships to college bound students to ensure that a lack of funding does not prevent them from going to college, staying in college and graduating from college." -- "to ensure that a lack of funding does not prevent them from going to college, staying in college and graduating from college"? What malarky.. There are many, many scholarships and programs already in existence that will help the truly dedicated students in their pursuit of excellence in education, and the only interest in 'scholarships" is to "coattail" getting casinos established in GA... and those casinos are not going to hire college graduates to work the tables.

From Columbus Council Agenda: "REVIEW PROCESS AND TIMELINE FOR ISSUANCE OF BUILDING PERMITS BY LOCAL GOVERNING AUTHORITIES:

The Columbus Consolidated Government is requesting the legislative delegation advocate against legislation that would reduce timeline for issuing building permits and allowing applicants to use private plans examiners and inspectors to review and approve construction plans. (Carryover from 2017 - Request of John Hudgison/ Inspections and Codes Director)

Currently Part 2 of Article 1 of Chapter 2 of Title 8 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to state building, plumbing, and electrical codes, allow municipalities the ability to review plans for up to 30 business days. One proposed bill would amend it to only 15 business days. With the diverse nature of building construction and use, building plans must go through other departments for approval (Engineering, Planning, etc.) as well as other local boards (BHAR, BZA, PAC). Much of that work and approval would take more than 15 business days. This would force the city to stop simultaneous submittals and would not be able to come to the Inspections & Code Department to submit plans until the other departments have reviewed and approved the plans. Also, this would open the door for private plans examiners and inspectors to approve plans and inspect buildings without notifying the local municipality if the applicant feels that the timelines are not met." -- How about Council re-reading this and publishing a clearer version of results it's seeking.. after seeing the current state of government owned building in the City, it's apparent 30 days was not enough time to make sure the plans did not guarantee the long term viability of such buildings.. How is reducing the time in half going to insure better plans?

---

Oh, and as far as Council request to our legislative delegation, why isn't one being made to move all our local elections.. including any future LOST/SPLOST referendums to the November General Election dates?

From the "I think Cuzzin Jimmy feels that we are about to celebrate April Fool's Day next week" department - Online headline/story: "Jimmy Carter defends Trump in a wide-ranging New York Times interview * Speaking with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd in a piece titled "Jimmy Carter Lusts for a Trump Posting", Carter opined on a number of political topics:

1 - He said although Trump may be contributing to the souring of America's image in the world, the declining image of America "precedes Trump."

2 - disagreed with his wife about the impact of Russia's meddling in the 2016 election, saying "I don't think there's any evidence that what the Russians did changed enough votes, or any votes."

3 - Carter said the US is no longer "the dominant character in the whole world," and "we're not going to be," adding that "Russia's coming back and India and China are coming forward."

4 - He knocked former President Barack Obama's decision to bomb Yemen, as well as his refusal to hold more serious discussions with North Korea.

5 - Carter said players "ought to find a different way to object, to demonstrate," saying he wished players would stand during the anthem.

Hmmm.. Carter may get ""Harvey Weinsteined" over this interview. I'm sure the DNC has a list of women Cuzzin Jimmy "lusted in his heart" for..

From the "mama's .. don't let your daughters grow up to be liberal millennials" department - Online story: " The owner of a Massachusetts coffee shop said she was closing the business due to the backlash following her daughter’s controversial comments about cops on Facebook. * “I’ve lost my business and I’ve lost my daughter. I don’t know how this story just keeps building, but I need people to leave me alone,” Mele told The Daily Item. “I’m closing my business so I can stop being harassed." * Mele tried to make amends with police after her daughter, Sophie, the store’s manager, wrote on her personal Facebook page last weekend that the business would never host a “Coffee with a Cop” event. * The post started a debate that took a different turn when Sophie called police officers bullies and racists. In turn, social media users called for people to ban the coffeehouse. * Mele fired her daughter and wrote police an apology, calling the remarks “distasteful, biased and hateful.” She invited officers to the shop Monday for coffee. * However, police did not show up, and the regular morning customers did not either. * However, police did not show up, and the regular morning customers did not either. " -- and if you were wondering why millennials are having a hard time getting jobs working for others.. here's your answer.. disrespect for America's past and future.

Online story: "California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters, a leader in the resist-Trump movement, recent told a New York audience that she will “take out” the president, shows a video posted last week online." -- Good grief.. if there is anybody who needs to be "taken out".. it;s Maxine Waters.. she should be taken out of Congress, she should be taken out of Washington, D>C>, she should be taken out of society.. but especially, she should be taken out of her gated community in another Californian Congressperson's District, and "dumped out" into the streets.

Panera Bread was out of chips yesterday at lunch...they should at least be able to substitute some Krispy Kreme donut holes.

Online story: "Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. Army sergeant who pleaded guilty Monday to deserting his post in Afghanistan in 2009, says his Taliban captors were more “honest” with him than the Army has been since his release three years ago." -- "Taliban captors were more “honest” with him than the Army"? Good grief.. the Taliban must be in collusion with the Democrats! Their "campaign strategies" are obviously intended to sway it's followers with what they want to hear...

---
Learned something interesting today.. in a L-E article, Phenix City assistant City Manager over their utilities said, " A resurfaced road, depending on the conditions, weather and traffic, may last eight to 15 years before maintenance is required, according to some estimates." -- Hmm I reckon it's been too much for us in Columbus to expect our streets to have such a maintenance schedule.. I've lived in my neighborhood for 14 years this week, and have not seen a single resurfacing team out here.. I do believe that others in the community must feel we are a neighborhood of "Gator Fans" because our streets are as cracked and bumpy as an old alligator.
---
A hugely defective feeling LIV's "soundoff": "I grew up hunting, but now with all the murder and mayhem caused by guns, I don’t want a gun anymore." -- Idiot! chances are owning a gun has enabled him/her to live this long...

L-E headline/story: "RED RIBBON WEEK * How do children become drug dealers and murderers? * E***** is like a walking encyclopedia when it comes to street culture. So when I began working on this week’s Red Ribbon series, focusing on the connection between drugs and violence in our community, I called on him once again. * This time, I wanted to know why so many young black males turn to drugs for economic empowerment, wreaking havoc in their neighborhoods. Police officials say there have been 27 homicides in Columbus so far this year, I pointed out, and they attribute much of the violence to drugs. * At first, E****** mentioned the vestiges of slavery as a factor, as well as the lack of jobs in many inner-city neighborhoods. Then he said something that really stood out.
* “Nobody was born a criminal,” he said. “When we look at children coming up, in their purest form, they see their momma washing dishes; they want to help. They don’t know that it’s a chore, it’s a task, or something you really don’t like doing." -- What a lazy story... passing on bogus info about a problem that exists.. the main factors are steeped in the broken families promoted by the "rules" of LBJ's "War on Poverty" that still influence the growth of poverty in spite of the $20+ TRILLION dollars poured into these programs over the past 50 years. Children soak in their environment, and seek acceptance wherever they can get it and unfortunately, drugs/gangs need a never-ending supply of "bodies" to keep it growing, and recruiting kids is easy with promises of money and acceptance.. and "safety".
