Online headline: "Legal Battle Over Tucson Defendant Jared Loughner's 'Real' Mug Shot" -- How sick is the legal system? Loughner's lawyers are trying to release his "official" mug shots because they think it will 'sensationalize' Loughner's heinous act now when the 'interest' is 'waning', and it will hurt his chances of getting a fair trial. DOH! Where do theses lawyers get their degrees? Why haven't their law schools been shut down?

Since there are several of the legal 'industry' getting this, and none have spoken up as yet, can one explain how a 21 year old caught with an AK-47 knock-off weapon on a school campus (an probably a high risk of flight) can post/get a $10,000.00 bond, and still be appointed a taxpayer paid attorney?

In a February issue of an important Golf magazine, one of our fellow BCers is recognized as one of the top 100 club fitters in the country. That's pretty impressive.

Online headline: "Boy Without a Cerebellum Baffles Doctors" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought this was a biography of Nancy Pelosi's husband.

Nokia's new president is adopting Windows 7 OS for it's phones. Excuse me, as much as Nokia phones over the years have been my favorites, I'm not about to buy any phone with a Microsoft OS. I need to know my phone want crash when I'm calling tech support trying to revive my current notebook crash.

Online headline/story: "Obama may limit tax breaks for rich * In the president's past two budget requests, he called for limits on the value of itemized deductions for those in the top two tax brackets. That would include deductions for mortgage interest and charitable contributions." -- Oh, potUS Imam-a wants to limit upper income deductions to the already over-excessive taxes the high end wealthy pay to more "contributions" to the IRS. Wonder if that Huffington 'babe' has seen what her next year taxes are going to be on $315 Million?

L-E headline: "Woman charged with posing as dead sister wants to withdraw guilty plea" -- Just another case of 99% of lawyers making the other 1% look like ambulance chasers. Only one person benefits from this, and that's the court appointed attorney who will milk the available funding for indigent defendants. How about a law that says, when a person pleads guilty, their court appointed attorney can only negotiate the terms of the defendants sentence?

L-E headline: "Superintendent Andrews: This summer, air condition our elementary gyms" -- With the tightness of funds, why not spend the money on something needed. I'm not even sure which (or why) elementary schools have gyms since recess/PE is basically optional, but the simple way to address hot gyms in the summer is to go back to the post-Labor Day openings for schools. Just the saving on keeping the AC on 80 degrees or so in the summer months rather than normal household temps would be a great savings in itself.

The only issue about "Sunday sales" is really whether the drinker is responsible or not. Face, the only time you really need to buy liquor on one day, is that you drank too much and ran out the day before. Now, if the ballot issue could be one of eliminating the law that allows liquor stores to sell cold beer out of a drive-thru window versus being able to get out of your vehicle and walk soberly into such establishment, I could vote for it.

Was wondering when the L-E would notice that one of the furniture stores "going out of business" was in violation of state laws governing that issue, but what's the state going to do, get a court order (which would take months) to shut them down? The best way to do so would be to penalize newspapers and TV/Radio stations for taking ads from going-out-of-business businesses after the prescribed 90 day window. Yeah, that's gonna happen.

I'm beginning to have 'some' sympathy for 'some' of the red-light-runners after driving up Veterans Parkway last night and watching every traffic light I approached turnred as I got close. Didn't then-Mayor Martin pay millions for the synchronized traffic light system years ago?
