L-E story: "Defense attorneys (for Sticarlo L. Vanderson) have cried foul. William Kendrick, the Columbus defense attorney who brokered the plea deal for Vanderson, said he never anticipated federal interest in the case, and that he failed to inform his client that a guilty plea could be used against him. * “In my experience, I have never had federal prosecution initiated against a client after the resolution of the case,” Kendrick, 28, said in court filings." -- The 28 year attorney is arguing based on his experience as an attorney? Is he talking about how many months or days he's been an attorney? Fortunately, for the rest of us, he'll 'never' be able to say he's 'never had federal prosecution initiated against a client after the resolution of the case' again.

L-E story: "The discussion Tuesday will more likely dwell on the way Cielinski conducts Recorder’s Court business. How well he does that depends on who’s talking. * “He’s rude,” said one defense attorney who would speak only on condition of anonymity. “It’s been my experience that he is rude and disrespectful much of the time -- to defendants, lawyers and police.” -- Anyone who will only demean another from the shadows of anonymity is simply, in a word, a coward. "Mr/Ms anonymous defense (well, actually, kinda offensive) attorney" is upset that Judge Cielinski is not politically correct to him/her. Considering the anonymous circumstances, Judge Cielinski is right on target for the rights of the community to feel safe, and that justice is being cared for.

Hear about the Iowa teenaged wrestler who forfeited his match because the Politically Correct Police decided to let teenaged girls wrestle in the boy's competition? Not only is this another example of illogical (I don't like to use the word stupid) decision making for School Boards, it also put the referee association in an unintended consequences situation... were the referees expected to identify and throw out yellow penalty flags for "illegal use of hands"?

Prince William...the poster child for welfare gone wild.

There was a rumored story out that OJ Simpson was brutally beaten up in his Nevada jail (sorry, no truth in the matter), but it does ask me to wonder that since OJ is serving a 33 year sentence for armed robbery, what happens to the NFL pension ($320K annually, I believe) he receives?

Why is it that the Council is going to authorize $17 Million dollars for an out-of-town construction company to correct the flooding situation around 6th Avenue? Wasn't that supposed to be fixed in the early-mid 1990's by our own Columbus Water Works when we were blackmailed in to passing a huge amount of bond issues to correct the whole water/sewer system?
---
Did anyone from the Council ask if anyone actually analyzed this contract: "COLOR PHOTOCOPIER FOR PRINT SHOP AND GIS DIVISIONS (ANNUAL CONTRACT): It is requested that council approve the contract for the rental of five color photocopiers: one unit for the Planning Department, two units for the Print Shop, and two units for the GIS Divisions, from The Overby Company, (Columbus) at a lease cost of $.0709 cents per color copy and $.007 cents per black/white copy. The estimated combined copy volume will be approximately 250,913 color copies, and 305,938 black/ white copies per year." ? -- Knowing the higher cost of color ink consumables, shouldn't there be a significant difference in the prices between color and black/white copy costs?

L-E headline/story: "Many services would cease during shutdown * Lawmakers are in the midst of a deepening budget standoff with just two weeks to go before a stop-gap funding measure expires. House Republicans said they would not approve another stop-gap measure without deep cuts, and approved $61 billion in reductions Saturday to this year’s budget. President Obama and the Democrats who control the Senate strongly oppose the House GOP approach. * The Constitution and U.S. statutes prohibit agencies from operating without an express appropriation from Congress, meaning a lapse in funding would trigger layoffs and fractures in services. * President Barack Obama and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., each said last week that a shutdown today would delay Social Security checks and disrupt services considered vital to millions of Americans." -- Oh, so the DUMB&DUMBERat position is that we have to blindly waste more money to spend more wasted money? Can the House Republican defund the Oval Office... FAST?
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — Strong winds have toppled the National Christmas Tree. * The Washington, D.C., Fire and EMS department reports that the tree fell over Saturday morning. There were no injuries or other damage. * The National Christmas Tree is a Colorado blue spruce that was planted on the Ellipse, near the White House, in 1978. It was 15 years old and 30 feet tall when it was planted. Now it’s 47 years old and stood about 42 feet." -- First it was the National Day of Prayer snub by Emporer Obama; now it's the National Christmas Tree that has tumbled under his watch. Are their any other symbols of Christianity in/at the White House that are in jeopardy for the next 2 years?

Did anyone see an apology/correction concerning Paunchy-Tummy Tim Chitwood's Groundhog's Day gaffe, or Hasn't Ben Wright's demotion of Major General Brown to Col. Brown?
