Online headline/story: "Pentagon's Tiny New Spy Drone Mimics Hummingbird * The hummingbird drone is being developed by AeroVironment with funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the far-out research and development arm of the Pentagon * The Air Force Research Laboratory is also working on drones that can mimic birds and has plans for a pigeon-sized UAV that can recharge while perching on power lines. " -- Brilliant..NOT! In a world of reality, who doesn't notice and focus on the unique abilities of hummingbirds when they flit into one's viewing area, and what pigeon would be safe from being thought to be 'dinner' in any 3rd World country where such spying abilities would be used? Here are 2 items that can be cut from the budget...today!

Online story: "A New Jersey woman who sued the Century 21 department store for $5 million for allegedly depriving her of 80 cents on a coupon has decided not to go to court after all. * The suit wasn't the first time that Gerson's family has taken on big retailers in court over coupons. Her lawyer father, Harry Katz, has sued retailers including Dick's Sporting Goods, Casual Male and The Children's Place, The New York Post said" -- Once again, it's that 99% of lawyers that give the other 1% a bad reputation.

Online headline: "Wisconsin Democrats Could Stay Away for Weeks" -- And let's hope they do! It's about time for non-government working voters to see how unnecessary and how useless the DUMB&DUMBERat Party 'ideals' are.

Speaking of budget cuts that can be made in GA that will have an impact: There's an innocuous building on the corner of 5th Ave and 12th Street that has 18+/- vans with government plates and C.T.S marked on the sides of the vans. It took a while to get any of our local Representatives to respond (Thanks, Richard Smith), but as it turns out, C.T.S. is basically a taxpayer paid taxi service for New Horizons ( and I'm sure there are C.T.S. offices in all of our bigger cities). Why not close those offices which would save millions, and then let state government service operations who need such taxiing service contract with local private cab companies (or Metra) to transport the patients. Better yet, make those agencies investigate the patient situations and make families (when reasonable) be responsible for getting such patients to New Horizons (et al).

From the "suspicions confirmed" department: A Chrysler ad: "Have you seen the New Chrysler 200 - Imported from Detroit" -- Who among us hasn't thought of Detroit as a 3rd World Country. Guess that's why Emporer Obama could justify the Chrysler & GM bailouts...he considers the money as "Foreign Aid".
---
L-E headline: "Harvey Updyke, accused in Toomer's Corner tree poisoning, released on bond" -- I hope one of the conditions was/is that he has to stay in "outhouse arrest".

L-E story: "A Columbus teen once charged with forcibly raping a 12-year-old girl pleaded guilty this week in juvenile court to statutory rape. * The 15-year-old was sentenced to three to five years behind bars, but defense attorneys said his sentence will be rescinded soon due to confusion about the severity of the charge. * Public defender Robert Wadkins called the sentence “a mistake,” adding the teen likely will receive a sentence of one to two months at a hearing later this month. * At the December hearing, defense attorneys pounced on the (12 year old) girl’s testimony, questioning her about why she concealed her pregnancy from her mother and failed to notify the authorities sooner. “Do you think you'd be in more trouble if you told your mother there wasn't any holding down” and that the sexual intercourse was consensual, defense attorney Frank Martin asked the girl during the hearing. -- Chances are that the 12 year old didn't even understand the signs she might be pregnant. 2 more of the 99% who give the other 1% of lawyers a bad rep.

L-E headline/story: "Stocking Strangler case: Prosecutors say DNA test on early rape would delay case * Prosecutors say testing in Miller’s case is unlikely to affect Gary’s convictions as required by Georgia’s post-conviction DNA testing law, which prohibits seeking testing just to delay an execution. * The motion filed Friday by District Attorney Julia Slater in part says, “it is apparent that such testing will not produce evidence which would create a ‘reasonable probability’ that defendant would be acquitted and would only result in further unnecessary delay in these proceedings.” -- This probably seems like piling on, but it also raises doubt as to whether a full 1% of lawyers still remain above the other 99%.

Last fall, Columbus (and other area) drivers were ticketed for parking along the 100 block median on Broadway as they participated in the UPtown Market Day activities. They were informed that that part of the street is a 'loading zone'. Yesterday, I saw 2 CPD cars park along the same median, and go to a restaurant to order/get take out lunches. I have utmost respect for our Police officers, but this in this case it would be proper for the City to refund all the parking ticket revenues that were taken from "regular' citizens for doing the same thing.

L-E story: " ACAPULCO, Mexico — Four men with their hands and feet tied and heads covered in duct tape were thrown 600 feet to their deaths from a bridge Friday, authorities said as Mexico’s increasingly bloody drug battles reached a new level of cruelty and intimidation." -- For all those "clear thinking" advocates for either legalizing drugs or relaxing drug law enforcement, this could be the scenario here in the US if we stop being diligent in stopping the spread. Of course, locking down our borders would help in this endeavor.
---
L-E story: " PARIS — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Friday urged countries with large trade surpluses, like China, to let their currencies rise in value to help prevent another global financial crisis. " -- Brilliant....NOT! It's embarrassing for the head of the Fed to ask for other governments to devalue their money to make our dollar look less weak. This is just a blatant example of the moral of the cobbler who's children had no shoes. Man up, Bernanke!
