Online headline: "Joe Biden's Paris Hotel Cost $585,000 For One-Night Vice
Presidential Stay" -- "Nearly $600K for a one night stand....who does Bleep Veep
Biden think he is... Eliot Spitzer?
---
Instant repeat headline: "Joe Biden's Paris Hotel Cost $585,000 For
One-Night Vice Presidential Stay" -- Maybe we should limit travel to the
Presidential level; "vice" costs too much.
---
Instant repeat headline with story: "Joe Biden's Paris Hotel Cost $585,000
For One-Night Vice Presidential Stay" * The costs "are in line with high-level
travel across multiple administrations," explained an unnamed State Department
official to ABC News. " -- "in line"? In line with $1,200.00 hammers and
$3,000.00 toilet seats of renown.
---
Instant repeat headline: "Joe Biden's Paris Hotel Cost $585,000 For
One-Night Vice Presidential Stay" -- Hell, it would have been cheaper and more
productive to send Michele Obama on a vacation/shopping trip.

From the "stories we like to hear" department - Online story: "(Reuters) -
Wal-Mart Stores Inc has sued a major grocery workers union and others who
have protested at its Florida stores, the latest salvo in its legal fight to
stop "disruptive" rallies in and around its stores by groups seeking better pay
and working conditions." -- Yes! Walmart stands up for all businesses under
union attack when the union does not even represent any workers at Walmart. Come
to think of it, the protesters have a better suit against their union employer
for better working conditions than atanding around outside in all sorts of
climate conditions,

Let's look at HeadStart.. Really look at it. It's been around since the
60's, was expanded in the 80's, and hasn't changed anything but the cost of
education. We have 3 high schools in Columbus that could not produce 1 student
who met the minimum requirements of GA's "S.T.A.R. Student" program. No
government program is going to change bad results as long as the targets of such
programs have no family, nieghborhood , church or school support for individual
success of students.

Online headline/story: "Golden Gate Bridge Electronic Tolling Starts
Wednesday * Eliminating toll-takers will save roughly $16 million over eight
years in salaries and benefits. A toll-taker's base annual salary starts at
$48,672 and tops out at $54,080. It is costing the bridge district $3.2 million
to get the all-electronic system up and running. * The move, among other steps,
will help bail the district out of a $66 million budget shortfall over the next
five years." -- $48-to-$54K for a minimum wage job. No wonder California is in
such budget woes. And at $6.00 toll per car, California would probably be better
off eliminating the tollstoll collection costs altogether which would put
cajillions of dollars back in commuters'/vacationers' pockets which they could
spend in the community/state and generate huge sales and income tax windfalls
for the community & state.

And we wonder why we have such a time keeping our children 'of age'.... Why
would Niclelodeon allow Katy Perry to show up at its "Kids' Choices Awards 2013"
dressed like this?

Online headline/story: "Guanarito Virus Vial Missing From Galveston
National Laboratory's Secure Facility * In a statement released March 23,
University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) President David Callender explained
"less than a quarter teaspoon" of the virus was unaccounted for from a locked
freezer * The laboratory's scientific director, Scott Weaver, told The Houston
Chronicle the vial may have become stuck to a glove and fallen onto the
floor, where it would have been destroyed as a part of the lab's normal
cleaning and decontamination process. " -- "may have become stuck to a glove and
fallen onto the floor"? Is this or is it not "dog ate my homework" excuse
updated to the 21st Century?

During the citizenship swearing in ceremony at the White House,
Judas 00-bama pontificated that we need immigration reform to attract the
smartest. No problem with that, we already have student & work related
programs for skilled jobs, but how many illegal aliens crossing over the Mexican
border would otherwise qualify for those?

From "the out of the mouths of children" department: 11 year Grace Evans
got to address the Minnesota legislature, and asked a question none of the
legislature could/would answer. After describing the importance of her mother
and father in her life development, she posed the following question: "Which
parent do I not need?" All were listening so none tried to answer that
one.

Well, news of the US leading the world in its carbon reduction was met with
disdain by the leftist because it's attributable to the increased use of natural
gas, and not wind/solar energy. Liberals, you can't live with them, and you
shouldn't have to live in the same country with them, either.

I see where another layer of asphaltt has been poured over the curb lane
going south on 2nd Avenue.... again. What's it going to take for officials to
understand that simply repaving 2nd Avenue over and over again is insanity as
long as they allow loaded dump trucks to continue driving on it? 2nd Avenue has
an old brick road bed, so the application of asphalt doesn't have a solid road
bed as a base. Ask the City Manager when the last time the City fixed a pot hole
in the Historic District part of Broadway, and ask him "why not"?

So Mayor Obamalinson is playing a game of "I Doubt It" with the residents
of BTW. It was pitiful that the 'names' of the 5 people she points at for going
against her weren't actually revealed, but I guess she thinks she can have her
way and still hold their influence for her re-election plans. Sorta like the
old adage, she wants to eat her cake and have it, too.

L-E headline/story: "School board puts
industrial school up for sale * Seven
years after Columbus’ old Industrial High School celebrated its 100th
anniversary and one year after the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation named
it to a list of 10 “Places in Peril,” the Muscogee County School District is
putting the elaborate 1112 29th St. building on the market, declaring it surplus
and ready to sell." -- "ready to sell"? The MCSD may be ready to sell, but the
building is probably ready-to-be-razed afterr being under the care of the MCSD.
One only has to be reminded of how well the MCSD has taken care of all its
building over the years. Of the worst eyesores in Columbus, MCSD has been in
charge of many of them. Take the building being discussed, and then think about
Baker High, Claflin, the old Fox School, the recently razed old Carver High et
al. Historic stewardship is neither the strong suit, nor in the game plan for
the MCSD board.. that's a shame, an absolute shame.

L-E story: "Growlers may be coming to Columbus. * If Columbus Council approves an ordinance that’s to
be presented at its meeting tonight, specified alcoholic beverage sellers will
be allowed to fill and refill 32- and 64-ounce jugs with draft beer for people
to take with them. * Councilor Skip
Henderson is introducing the ordinance at the behest of
the owners of the Cannon Brew Pub, who want to able to sell their craft beers
for take-home use. * “If you want to take some
home with you, I think you should be able to do it,” Henderson said." -- Hmmm,
how many "growlers" does Councilor Henderson think will actually make it home
versus being consumed (and container toss on the median or end up floating down
the Whitewater course during a 3:00 AM 'race"? Lets not forget our open
container laws as well. And who would have thought true brewmasters would ever
advocate putting their products in to plastic gallon milk jugs? This idea
wreaks.... as much as the beer does.

L-E's "Quotable “Be
thankful we’re not getting all the government we’re paying for.” -Will Rogers American humorist (1879-1935)" --
I'm LMAO, but it sure hurts. Tis true today as well, but ..... but now we're
having to cry about what we're receiving as 'government' as
well.

L-E headline: "NAKED INTRUDER, SHOT WITH TASER, DIES " -- While I
truly don't want to know, one must ask, "Where did they taser
him?".
---
L-E story: "ATHENS
— Police in Athens say a woman found an intruder in her living room using her
laptop computer to browse Facebook. * Authorities say the intruder — an unidentified
18-year-old University of Georgia Student — stammered and apologized to the
woman Sunday afternoon, quickly gathered her belongings and left. * Police tell the Athens Banner-Herald the intruder
had also apparently urinated on the woman’s couch before she returned home. *
Authorities say the intruder left her Facebook
page open in her rush to leave," -- Well, I hope the victim took a picture of
the pissed on cushion, loaded it onto the violator's Facebook page, then change
the password so the victim can't delete
it.
