Online story: "NEW YORK — A new $12 million television ad campaign from Mayors Against Illegal Guns will push senators in key states to back gun control efforts, including comprehensive background checks. * "These ads bring the voices of Americans – who overwhelmingly support comprehensive and enforceable background checks – into the discussion to move senators to immediately take action to prevent gun violence," Bloomberg said in a statement issued by the group he co-founded in 2006." -- Mayor Bloom(ing idiot)berg keeps on earning his new name. Who doesn't want to prevent gun violence? If liberals are sincere in their desire to do this, then they should put their efforts and money into a campaign to end the 20+ years of appeals for death sentences.

Another advertiser has gone politically correct... Star-kist Tuna. We grew up with the announcer berated "Charlie" by saying , "Sorry, Charlie, Star-Kist wants tuna that tastes good, not with good taste. Now, a group of kids say, "Thanks, Charlie", and I haven't figured what for.

Passed on by a fellow BCer: "President Obama’s approval ratings are so low now that Kenyans are accusing him of being born in the United States !!" -- q;-)

I'm looking at a charitable solicitation that came in the mail yesterday. There was no outside printing so I applaud the frugality of the organization, but what got my attention most was that the Post Office charged only 12.1¢ postage. With the troubles that plague the Postal Service, why is the PO giving away service at a loss?

---

This is a repeat of something I wrote yesterday in Part Deux of the BC.. It deserves printing as often as I can remember to do so: Online headline: "Georgia Baby Dead: 13-Month-Old Antonio Shot By Young Boy In Front Of Mother, Sherry West, Police Say * A Georgia woman said Friday a teenager trying to rob her at gunpoint asked "Do you want me to kill your baby?" before he fatally shot her 13-month-old son in the head." -- Where the hell is the ACLU (and Southern Poverty Law Center, and Mayor Bloom-ing idiot-berg, Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson) demanding the all the teens not only be charged as adults, but with an absolute HATE crime. No amount of prison time will 'rehab' these, so forget the trial. take straight to the death chamber!

Online headline/story: "Dem official to students: ‘Stomp on Jesus’ * Florida Atlantic University professor Deandre Poole instructed his intercultural communications class earlier this month to write the name “Jesus” on a piece of paper, then drop it on the floor and stomp on it. * One student, a devout Mormon, was so disturbed by the exercise that he complained to school officials, saying Poole had offended his religious convictions. The school responded by suspending the student from the class. * While the incident has made the news, the media has failed to report a key component of Poole’s resume: He is vice-chairman of the Palm Beach County Democratic Party." -- Hmmm, maybe we should spread the rumor that Professor was going to ask his students to write "Muhammed", and step on it next. You know how Muslims feel about soles of shoes.

Miss Alabama, what's her name, you know, the one that dates that Alabama quarterback fellow, is diving on "Splash". Well, it's more like "dying" on "Splash". She had to win a "dive-off" in order to continue, and comedian Louie Anderson didn't.

"Color Me Rad" was held here in Columbus, GA yesterday. A fun event that raised mega bucks for the Children's Miracle Network. Estimates say that 4,400 actually participated. Today, the L-E published 4 pictures of that event. On the other hand, Miss Alabama, who had to win a "dive-off" to continue on "Splash", had 5 (3 in swim wear) pictures in today's L-E. What does that tell us about the L-E business plan?

---

Low-info voter's L-E "soundoff": "More selective outrage * George W. Bush spent over one-third of his time in office on vacation. Obama has spent less than 10 percent of his administration on vacation, and you are complaining." -- Even Bill Clinton couldn't pull figures out of the air like these, and make them seen factual,, no matter how he asked they be 'defined'..

---

L-E story: " A 16-year-old girl at the Early College Academic Center told police Friday that she was improperly touched in a classroom at the 2701 11th Ave. school, Columbus police said. * Police have no suspect and the case remains under investigation" -- Huh? I was already shaking my head in disbelief... then I got to the byline... sure enough, it was written up by Hasn't Ever Ben Wright. Does the L-E just keep him on staff to make the other reporters look educated?

---

L-E story: "TUSKEGEE, Ala. — Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan said Friday that the Montgomery-based Southern Poverty Law Center is wrong when it says he leads a hate organization." -- There is finally one thing I can agree with Louis Farrakhan about... the Southern Poverty Law Center is usually wrong, not in hios particular case, but usually wrong. BTW, why hasn't the Southern Poverty Law Center labeled the Palm Beach County Democratic Party a "hate group". Not only was the Florida Atlantic U, professor who had students write "Jesus" on paper then stomp it a member of it, but previous PB County Democratic officers have even more hateful events they eventuall had to resign over.

Dusty Nix column in the L-E: "I own a couple of firearms. If I should ever have to move to Nelson, Ga. (and surely a merciful God would not demand such a dire penance from me), at least I’ll be in compliance with the law. * Nelson, you might remember, is the little north Georgia burg with a proposed mandatory gun ownership law. That’s right — under a city council motion that could be decided within the next couple of weeks, homeowners would HAVE to own a gun. " -- Hmmm... that would mean every citizen calling Nelson "home" would have to undergo an extended background check, and that would mean there would be no criminals at all who live in nelson,,, Sounds like we all should demand that Columbus, GA enact the same law. That would free up most of the tax dollars spent on law enforcement, and maybe get Mayor Obamalinson off our backs on the tax freeze issue.

---

L-E editorial crap: "Interim Superintendent John Phillips says it’s time for corporal punishment in schools to be a thing of the past, and we couldn’t agree more. * “You teach kids the very thing we don’t want to teach, violence,” Phillips said at a school board work session. “… if I’m bigger than you I can handle it in a barbaric way. When you look at urban school districts, who do you think that gets spanked more often? It’s minority children, poor children, boys and special-education students.” -- The school board's aim is to eliminate all forms of what consequences are, in hopes none of the students will understand who screwed up their understanding the relationships of hard work-to-success ratio versus the slackard-to-poverty ratio.
