Online story: "A former employee at a Christian college has enlisted the
help of high-profile attorney Gloria Allred to sue a California school that
allegedly fired her for engaging in premarital sex, NBC's "Today" reports. In a
bizarre twist, the school reportedly went on to offer the pregnant woman's job
to her then-fiance. * Teri James, 29, told the news outlet that she did sign a
two-page contract with San Diego Christian College that included a provision
agreeing not to engage in "sexually immoral behavior including premarital sex."
* During a news conference featured in a KTLA report, James said she felt she
was treated unfairly. * "I was unmarried, pregnant and they took away my
livelihood," James said. -- A work contract for specific situations must be a
tool an employer should have at its disposal. Shouldn't a Christian based
school be able to demand its teachers to teach personal values by example as
well as text? It's obvious the school wasn't on a 'witch hunt', and the teachers
obvious "whatever attitude" about showing up at work obviously pregnant was a
flagrant disregard for her job responsibilities.

Watching Golden Park idle away could have been avoided back around 20 years
ago when Council was challenged to build a new baseball/concert facility out
Veterans Parkway instead of band-aiding Golden Park. Hindsight has 20-20 vision,
but this is one time Council needed to look forward 20 years ago.

Online story: "WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's top fundraisers
brought in at least $186 million for the president's re-election campaign. *
Nearly 250 campaign bundlers each raised at least $500,000 for the president.
Those donors included actors Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Eva
Longoria, Wendell Pierce and film producer Harvey Weinstein. * Other top donors
included musician Gwen Stefani, fashion editor Anna Wintour, Maryland Gov.
Martin O'Malley and Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe." --
"Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley"? No elected official should be able to campaign
or donate for another politician, period, under any circumstance! A photo-op
meeting to welcome a current visiting politician is one thing, but accompanying
one to a campaign event, even showing up at a fundraiser dinner should not be
allowed, and certainly actually donating from one campaign account to another
should be strictly prohibited as is essentially allows donors to funnel illicit
amounts of funds to a candidate.

Online headline/story: "Sequestration News Spurs Calls To Congress From
Irate Constituents * The president on Friday said of the cuts, "This is not a
win for anybody. This is a loss for the American people." -- On day one, potUS
00-Bama declares budget cuts a loss to the American people..... hmmm, seems a
little short sighted to me... sorta like declaring the winner of the opening
tip-off to be the winner at the buzzer.

Why is the City bothering to still work on changing 10th St. to two-way
traffic? With most of the traffic generating government services being moved to
Columbus Square, not many folks will need a westerly traffic lane in the day
time, and a host of parking spaces will be lost for Springer and RiverCenter
events. That, and there won't be as many parking spaces for Mayor Obamalinson to
charge $1.00 per hour.

A fellow BCer has supplied me with some information I have been unable to
personally verify because the government does not want people to have easy
access to specific information like this. The number may be wrong (either upward
or downward) but at this point I am relying on the source as it is very
honorable. There are "11000 plus USDA field offices, at least in places where
there have not been farms in more than a century--like New York City." I
collected the following budget figures for the USDA though I cannot verify this
is the total of all agencies or just the main tier:
2011 enacted 2012 estimate 2013 budget
$140,677,000,000
$147,534,000,000 $154,666,000,000
Further more, the USDA has recently announced "it will close 259 domestic
offices, make other changes to save $150 Million per year." -- Wow... saving
$150 Million seems like that would be a big sacrifice, BUT that's less than .001
percent, less that 1/1000th of the budget, In a department like this, that could
be saved just by buying toilet paper when it goes on sale.

L-E story: "In an appeal to the Georgia
Supreme Court, Public Defender Robert Wadkins accused Muscogee Superior Court
Judge Bobby Peters of threatening a witness in the trial of
Andrew Solomon, convicted of murder in one of Columbus’ four killings over Labor
Day weekend 2010. " -- Aren't there enough cases for the Public
Defendant's office to handle without trying to get a new trial every time it
loses a case?
---
From L-E commentary by undesignated Sanford Bishop campaign staffer: "On March 7, 1965, 600 activists, including John
Lewis, set out to march from Selma, Ala., to the state capitol in Montgomery to
draw attention to the need for African Americans to have full voting rights. "
-- Wouldn't it be nice... appropriate to see John Lewis stand up on the steps of
the Capitol in Washington and declare that there have been a great many
improvements, changes, and a great future is ahead, and that we should look
foirward rather than to the rewar?

We should all applaud the future of the
Urban League.... the past... not so much.

L-E headline: "Who will get job of fixing Detroit’s finances?" --
Well. obviously not Government Motors... a recent speech by a GM executive to
Chinese officials stated proudly that 7 out of 10 GM vehicles are being made
outside the USA.
---
L-E
headline: "U.S. SUPREME COURT * Public opinion could sway
court’s ruling on gay marriage " -- This is exactly what's wrong with the
mainstream media... The MSM does not understand what the role of the US Supreme
Court is. It's sole purpose is to compare bits of enacted legislation with the
The US Constitution written by our founders and occasionally amended along the
way by our ancestors to make sure such enacted legislation falls into those
parameters. It is not a trendy or popularity contest, nor one dependent on the
glibness of a petitioner.

L-E headline: "Kerry: Divided Egypt needs political compromise " -
DOH! When something is divided, that is a compromise, but since Kerry's a
lifetime DUMBERat, he will never be comfortable trying to convince divided
parties that both will have to concede a
bit.

From an online quote source..."Effort only fully releases its
reward after a person refuses to quit. - Napoleon Hill" -- Bet you want
see this adage hanging on the wall behind any unemployment entitlement office
worker's desk.
