Why is the US Supreme Court hearing the California Prop 8 case? SCOTUS has already ruled that marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman. Yep, a long time ago when it outlawed polygamy.

---

Online headline: "Student Debt Nearly Tripled In 8 Years, New York Federal Reserve Reports" -- Too bad the headline cannot say, "Student jobs after college tripled in 8 years".

---

Online story: "CHICAGO (AP/Huffington Post) — Struggling online deals pioneer Groupon said Thursday that it ousted founder and CEO Andrew Mason amid worries that people are tiring of the myriad of online restaurant, spa and Botox deals that Groupon built its business on." -- Guess he'll now run for Congress on a Group Food Stamps discount package platform.

Wanna know the real reason DUMBERats are anti-gun? Name me one thief who wants their target to be armed when rifling through his wallet.

---

The market is soaring... not because of prosperity or economic recovery, but because Bernanke more or less said he was revving up the treasury printing presses. In other words, the market is soaring to keep stock prices in step with inflation that potUS 00-Bama says doesn't exist. Just be ready to be a market timer and get out before the Emporer finally confesses he's got no new clothes at all.

---

Online story: "WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Senate voted down opposing plans to avert the across-the-board budget cuts known as sequestration on Thursday, just a day before the spending reductions start to take effect." -- The DUMBERat Senate couldn't even muster up full support of it's own party, but you know it will be the Republicans' fault.

WRBL3 headline/story: "News 3 investigates absence of 3 high schools in state honors program * Eight Columbus high school students this week earned honors in a state program that recognizes students with the highest SAT scores. * But three south Columbus high schools, Carver, Spencer, and Kendrick did not have any students who qualified by the December deadline * The District's chief academic officer, Roni Collins, said it's because most of the students take the ACT and not the required SAT. * To be eligible for the student teacher achievement recognition program, or STAR, students need to meet or exceed the latest national average SAT scores during one test. * This year they would have needed to score at least a 496 in critical reading, 514 in math and 488 in writing. That totals 1489 out of a possible 1600." -- Questions run amok! To begin with, Georgia universities and colleges require (at least use to require) the SAT scores, and if students are going to qualify for HOPE scholarships, they would need SAT scores, not ACT ones, but there's a real flaw in the WRBL facts. Was it a WRBL error or a school system error that this story says STAR students have to have a 1489 of 1600 to qualify? Since the SATs total points are now 2400 (3 test segments X 800), scoring 1489 points means a student only has to have a 62% efficiency on the SATs to be considered for state honors. Having 3 schools that don't have a qualifier is a serious problem, and changes need to be made starting with those 3 school principals and student advisors.

---

From above story, also: "The average 2012 total SAT score in Muscogee County is 1426. At Carver the SAT mean is 1202, Kendrick it is 1251 and at Spencer it is 1199." -- Let's see... we have 8 public high schools. If the average SAT scores are 1426, then the other 5 public schools are averaging 1551+. MCSD has a real serious problem in its South Columbus schools, and whatever is going on is not working.

---

Nothing good is going to come out of the MCSD programs until the school system stops lying to the students about what standards are acceptable, and raise student goals accordingly.

---

I think it's wonderful that the Kendrick High girls basketball team has reached a 30-0 record for the 2012-13 school year, and I wish them to finish out the year undefeated. Of course, I'd be even prouder if one of those players qualified for consideratrtyion as a Star Student in the classroom. 1 or more of the girls may get offered a scholarship, but all could get one with HOPE scholarships if the same effort were made.

---

The DAR Good Citizen Awards were just announced. It was up to each school to select its DAR Good Citizen. Columbus, Carver, Shaw,Northside, and Kendrick High Schools

named students for recognition... Hardaway, Carver, nor Jordan did so... musta been an SAT problem... NOT! Just a smoldering, rotting, failure to get acts together within the school system.

I thought Mr BIG (&LOUD) Volume was gone, but obviously he's been reborn as Carl Gregory. Thank goodness for the new volume restriction laws!

If the American voter percentage the voted for potUS 00-Bama was reduced the 2.3% that sequester does for potUS 00-Obama's spending plans, then Mitt Romney would have won the popular vote. There is no mandate as potUS 00-Bama mistakenly operates on.

---

Now potUS 00-Bama is now singing a different tune about sequester being a fiscal Armageddon. Now it's a "tumble downward". Guess when the New York Times and Bob Woodward pointed out he is lying and the sequester is his own directive , 00-Bama is out admitting problems with his assessment to the more conservative aspect of mainstream media knowing the low-info voters will ignore it.

---

Now the potUS 00-Bama is challenging his own directive one when sequester starts. It's pretty clear that March 1st is Friday, 00-Bama now thinks he can declare Saturday as the 1st. Guess it's a"White House" thing.

---

Just made another discovery about the subterfuge involving WWW.barackobama.com. In a word... deception. Now, I can't log in by my e-mail/password to respond to their emails. Now I have to login on Facebook which is something I will not do. Of course, I can still donate via the website.

---

Listening to a California DUMBERepresentative describing how many programs would be shut down in the next 10 months got me thinking... Hmmm, if that 2.3% of spending could run that much government programming, we are really getting shafted when they spend the other 97.7% of our tax dollars.

---

Online headline/story: "Chicago to Teach Sex Ed to Kindergartners * The city’s school leaders have decided that kindergarten is not too young to learn about sex." -- Hmmm, guess when Chicago learned California 4 & 5 year olds were performing sex acts that the school board figured Chicago 4 & 5 years olds were lagging in their street smarts. God... California and Chicago have got to go!

---

Online story: "A Texas high school student has filed a federal lawsuit against her school and her teachers after she was punished for refusing to salute and recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance. * The Thomas More Law Center filed the suit on behalf of Brenda Brinsdon alleging the McAllen Independent School District violated the 15-year-old girl’s constitutional rights when she was forced to recite the Mexican pledge and sing the Mexican national anthem. * Brinsdon, who is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant and an American father, refused. She believed it was un-American to pledge a loyalty oath to another country.* Ironically, the school district has a policy that prohibits a school from compelling students to recite the American Pledge of Allegiance." -- "Ironically...policy prohibits...compelling stidents to recite the American Pledge of Allegiance"? Thank God we have courageous students like Brenda Brinsdon who have been taught at home not to kowtow to school policy! Governor Perry needs to lead a siege against the McAllen Independent School District!

---

More school agenda crap - Online story: " The controversial imam of a prominent mosque in Arlington, Va., has urged immigrant Muslims in the United States to wage war for Islam. * “The enemies of Allah are lining up. The question for us is, are we lining [up] or are we afraid because they may call us terrorists?” Shaker Elsayed told a crowd of Ethiopian Muslims during a lecture at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va." -- These school issues have to have approval of at least the schools' principals, and probably the systems' boards. Does the name "T.C. Williams High School" ring a bell.. it should, it was the focus of that great movie, "Remember the Titans". Obviously the area has digressed in its problem solving.

---

Now it's revealed that prior to his National Prayer Day speech, potUS 00-Bama's staff badgered Dr Ben Carson for a copy of his speech before he was to deliver it. Dr Cook told them he didn't write out his speeches, but he did provide them with the Bible verses he would use to construct his message. Way to go, Dr Carson! That's leadership.. and 00-Bama's staff isn't aware of what that is.
---

L-E headline: "PROSECUTOR APPEALS RULING ON BLOOD TEST IN HUGHES CASE" -- Good! Let's just pray it's for the right reason, and not political.

---

L-E's Today in History" feature: "In 1971, a bomb went off inside a men’s room at the U.S. Capitol; the radical group Weather Underground claimed responsibility for the predawn blast. " -- Hmmm, isn't that the organization Bill Ayers' belonged to.. you know the guy, the one that's a personal friend and advisor of potUS 00-Bama?

---

For Congress to have any effective way to keep mentally ill/mentally challenged wackos from gaining access to guns owned by 'normal' people, 'normal people' must be informed of the problems. Unfortunatelty, Congress prohibits mental institutions, hospitals, psychiatrists & psycologists from spreading the word.

---

L-E Editorial headline: "Sequestration will have wide economic impact " -- Well, the L-E should have thought about that before supporting potUS 00-Bama and Sanford Bishop... again.

---

L-E headline: "City to propose returning two-way traffic to 10th Street downtown" -- Somebody could stop this real quick by passing a note to Mayor Obamlinson that doing so will eliminate parking spaces on which she could get $1.00 per hour revenue.

---

It's bad enough we have low-info voters like L-E letter writer John Studstill, but it's worse that the L-E prints obviously wrong information he's passing along.

---

Once the City moves the departments that draw citizens downtown out to Columbus Square, Mayor Obamalinson is going to be begging people to come down and use all the vacant parking spots. Guess she'll have to flush Government Center employees out of the garages to use the street spaces again. BTW, how is the Court system going to get anyone who has a car to serve on jury duty?

---

Random question: Why does Hollywood give animated movies talking parts to hiogh paid 'celebrity' stars? If a stars voice is 'important, advertising agencies learned a long time ago that there are people with similar voice traits that will work for a lot less money. Producers could make children's movie for less money, and theaters could charge less for animated pictures. Families might even enjoy going to the movies again.

Picture in L-E:

-- Excuse me. but is there a reason, a point, that Adidas intentionally did not have a diversity of models wearing basketball uniforms?
