Misconception about teaching: "Public service is a sacrifice without PERKS"? Pension after 30 years, all weekends off.. summers off.. scheduled seasonal holidays/long weekends... job guarantee... no accountability for results.. those are PERKs no private business offers!

Online story: "The U.S. Justice Department announced last week that it was launching a broad investigation into the Ferguson Police Department, looking for patterns of discrimination. * Ferguson, a city of 21,000, is about 70 percent black. The mayor and five of the six City Council members are white. A 2013 report by the Missouri attorney general's office found that Ferguson police stopped and arrested black drivers nearly twice as often as white motorists, but were less likely to find contraband among the black drivers." -- " 70 percent black"..." Ferguson police stopped and arrested black drivers nearly twice as often as white motorists"? DOH! You know, if 70% of a town is black, that would pretty much indicate that there were 30% who are non-black, and that means that there are more than twice as many blacks as non-blacks, and a record of 2-to-1 black arrests would be taken for granted ... anywhere. Are reporters a victim of "new math" as well?

Good grief.. a Philadelphia Eagle star has been chastised publicly by an overpriced burger joint (4 burgers/drinks/fries for $57.00 + tax) for leaving a 20-cent (versus 20%) for admitted less than good service. The restaurant even "FaceBooked: the receipt. Personally, I think he should challenge the bill with his credit card company and get the 20--cent tip reduced to 2-cents. Anyway.. the publicity should keep reasonable diners from ever going to that restaurant in the future. The PYT (in Philadelphia) will now be known as "the pits".

HuffPost "headlie"story: "World Leaders Condemn Failed Drug War, Call For Global Reform * A coalition of former international leaders gathered in New York City on Tuesday to discuss the release of their new report calling for a complete overhaul of drug policies around the world, including legalization of psychoactive substances like marijuana. * In a discussion moderated by The Huffington Post's Washington bureau chief, Ryan Grim, 10 members of the Global Commission on Drug Policy urged all governments to embrace models that include decriminalization of consumption, legal regulation of drug markets and strategic refocusing of criminal enforcement." -- Good grief ..to begin with, "former international leaders" are not World Leaders.. "former" indicates a disconnect along the way...

Online "headlie": America is running out of jobs. It's time for a universal basic income." -- It's not about jobs per se.. it's about "opportunity", and that is an endless possibility to everyone. Of course, the worst hinderer of possibilities/opportunities are the elected/re-elected Democratic Party enablers who insist individuals are not capable of success.
---
Comment on above: We already have a universal basic income... zero.. It's a starting point all over the world.. what has devalued it is the minimum wage which $7.25 seem like "zero".

Online story: "Two Brooklyn women have been arrested after they robbed and intimidated three tenants out of their apartment at gunpoint, then squatted in the usurped home, because they were reportedly fed up with white people moving to the area. * knocked on the door of an apartment and held two men and a woman at gunpoint demanding they move out or be killed * The women then stole $800, an iPhone and personal information from the tenants and squatted in the apartment for two nights, a law enforcement source told the Daily News. * The police source added the tenants may have been targeted because of their race, as one of the suspects told police she didn’t like “that white people were moving into the area.” -- "she didn’t like “that white people were moving into the area.” "? "may have been targeted because of their race"? Great police work...NOT! Of course, maybe someone should ask those two women what they have done for their neighborhood's desirability as a destination....

A news story just out says there has been a 50% increase in overseas voter registrations this past August. Hmmmm.. just a better participation of Americans working overseas... or.. are illegal aliens just pre-registering before slipping in via the Mexican border?
---
Online headline: "Jason Carter ad warns voters ‘we’re going to reap what we sow’ " -- Hmmm.. well, we have enough peanuts as it is..
---
You know, someone should tell the Department of Education and the Teachers' Unions that better educated students will earn more money and pay more taxes which will better support the teachers' salaries.. and it might be helpful to tell the students and their parents also.
---
L-E's " Thought for Today": “There are years that ask questions and years that answer.” — Zora Neale Hurston, American author (1891-1960)." -- Hmmm.. and after years of questions about Obamageddon, and years of lies as answers, we will now have decades of our children/grandchildren paying the price.
---
L-E story: " President Barack Obama told congressional leaders Tuesday that he has the authority he needs to carry out a broader campaign to root out the violent extremists in Iraq and Syria, a day before outlining his plans to the American people in a prime-time address." -- Hmmm.. well, Congressional leaders can still stop him by drawing a red line at the borders, and Obamageddon won't cross them.
---
L-E story: " A new roundabout on South Lumpkin Road near the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center is more than 50 percent complete, a city official said Tuesday. One side of the roadway is completed and Alexander Construction Co, Inc. is now working on the other side, said Deputy City Manager David Arrington. Work should be completed in about two months. The $1.3 million project includes resurfacing from Walker Street to the south end of South Lumpkin Road. Most of the work is funded from the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant and $500,000 from the city’s 1999 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax." -- "Most of the work is funded from the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant and $500,000 from the city’s 1999 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax"? Hmm.. in other words ALL of the money is coming out of the people's pockets where tax revenues originate. Why do politicians/media folk not realize that "government grant" is just another phrase meaning "confiscated from the people"?
---
L-E story: "The Muscogee County Tax Assessor’s office and Tax Commissioner’s office are asking Columbus Council to spend more than $4.5 million to update a computer system that was installed in 1986. * In introducing the subject to councilors, Mayor Teresa Tomlinson explained that the investment could pay off for the Consolidated Government." -- "investment COULD pay off for the Consolidated Government"? You know, if there's a computer system installed in 1986/upgraded in 1999, the question should be "why hasn't it been upgraded long before now, but.. BUT. good grief.. no business would buy into a project "that COULD pay off". Now, what we should also see is the need for fewer employees to get more and better and faster information. How about a few "cuts" that WILL pay off for the taxpayers.
---
L-E story: "Federal prosecutors say a registered sex offender has been sentenced to prison for receiving child pornography. * U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said Tuesday that 35-year-old Charles Pelts of Marietta was sentenced to 15 years in prison." -- Good grief.. why is this pervert even given the chance to see daylight ever again! Obviously, he didn't rehab himself after the first arrest, so why would anyone think he would do so in the next 15 years?
---
L-E story: " In the world of currencies, the dollar is starting to look like a safe home in a tough neighborhood." -- Good grief.. "Chicken Little" was right.. "the sky is falling!" and Obamageddon will just print more of them...
--
From above story RE: stronger dollar: " It is also good news for American consumers, and not just those who are traveling overseas. Imported goods such as autos and computers will cost less to buy. That could mean more money in shoppers’ pockets." -- How is this "good news"? What it means is more jobs will be created overseas to eliminate people here from having money in their pockets to spend. Wake up,entitled America, your government is taxing America's corporations too much so overseas looks better and better.
---
L-E story: "report showed that employers added a net total of just 142,000 jobs in August, the fewest since December. The unemployment rate fell to 6.1 percent from 6.2 percent, but only because some of those out of work gave up looking. The government doesn’t count people as unemployed unless they are actively searching." -- There are three basic reasons more people are not looking for jobs: 1 - Don't need the income. 2 - Just have given up and are budgeting tighter for spouse's income, 3 - entitlement programs' revenues are better than giving up for a job.. My guess is #1 is not the most frequently guessed answer.
