Of course the excessive delays are "cruel and unusual punishment"... for law abiding citizens and the families of the victims of those capital crimes!

 

Two suggestion that will work.. 1 - Have a maximum 2 or 3 year time period following sentencing for one appeal to be made/completed with the burden on the criminal (and non-state-paid lawyers) to get it to and through the court system, or 2 - If an appeal is made, and the courts deny such appeal, then the lawyer(s) who file on behalf of the criminals be executed as well as the criminal

Oh.. just thought of a third suggestion for the above: 3 - If an appeal is made, then the criminal be prepared for the immediate carrying out of the sentence, and if the appeal fails, death be carried out the same day as the decision.

The case involves a particularly heinous crime. * Paroled rapist Ernest DeWayne Jones raped and murdered his girlfriend's mother in 1992. The body of Julia Miller was bound, gagged and had been stabbed 14 times, including a chest wound that penetrated to her spine. Two kitchen knives were sticking out of her neck and pieces of three other knives were on or around her body. * Jones, led police on a chase the next morning in Miller's station wagon and then shot himself in the chest with a rifle, though he survived.
His DNA connected him to the rape, and he admitted stabbing Miller.* He's been in prison for 20 years.

Oh.. filled up with gas at $2.199 a gallon yesterday.. didn't even feel bad when I saw another station with it at $2.189 a gallon.. Then my brother called.. he was on the way to Opelika, and got gas in Smith Station, AL for $1.899 a gallon. Btween the local distribution quasi-monopoly and the 53-cent a gallon taxes, we are getting screwed here in Columbus.

First what game are we talking about.. I think it's volleyball, but it could be a number of sports.. (ping-pong, ice hockey, lacrosse, even a new scoring system for tennis) et al) Secondly.. (this really sums it up) ..
