Another of the failed "stim-YOU-LIE"/job creation program of the DIM/DUMBorats:

How can teachers who live out-of-county/state complain about having to pay for their children to attend MCSD schools? Most of Columbus households do not even have children attending public schools, but they have to pay MCSD property taxes 'forever'. Personally, the taxpayers should stop paying their school property taxes until the MCSD adopts a policy requiring its teachers/administrators to live within the county or be fired.
---
L-E headline/story: "Local leaders say AYP reports don't paint a complete picture of school's achievement * Twelve schools in Muscogee County need improvement, according to state standards." -- Well, the MCSD should be using LOCAL STANDARDS, and there are very few schools meeting those standards!
---
From above story: "Susan Walker, the director of policy and research at the Georgia Partnership for Excellence and Education, said if one subgroup doesn’t make AYP, the whole school can fail to make AYP. * “High schools are at a disadvantage because they are usually larger, and there is the issue of subgroups. A high school is more likely to have subgroups,” Walker said. -- "Subgroups"? Can she not speak English?
---
Reading the above article showed me one thing for sure...the MCSD has a lot of excuses, and even has people designated to be 'excuse distributors', and things won't improve if the first response of the MCSD administration is to think of more things to blame things on.
---
You know, unless there are set standards, even 100% graduation doesn't mean a school is making AYP.

L-E headline/story (from AJC): "Bond set for Georgia man in officer shooting * Frye is charged with aggravated battery in the shooting. He's also charged with two counts of aggravated assault in connection with bullets fired into two occupied vehicles nearby.
* He also faces charges of forgery, theft by taking involving a stolen truck and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. * Frye's lawyer, Careton Matthews, says he intends to seek a reduction in bond" -- What's wrong with this scenario? I'll tell yo3u! The judge who set bail, and the lawyer wanting to reduce that bail should both be put in an adjoining cell, and when the prisoner makes bail, give him back his gun, and make him exit through the cell containing the judge and lawyer!!!
---
L-E story: "
ATLANTA -- State lawmakers are gathering in Atlanta to begin hammering out a plan to save the programs that get money from the Georgia Lottery from going broke. *Leaders from the state's university system, prekindergarten program, technical college system and others will testify before a joint meeting of the House and Senate Higher Education Committees on Monday. Demand for the programs - particularly the HOPE scholarship - have far outpaced lottery ticket sales." -- You know, the original plan was to fund only "HOPE" scholarships for inspired high school graduates; it's been the politicians drooling over the political power of spending money from, basically, a slush fund on other aspects to get themselves re-elected that have stretched any good of the program to exhaution. Another prime drain on the funds is school systems that make sure every graduate is 'hope eligible', and the state colleges having to go into the remedial education business.

A worthy L-E "soundoff": The ideal location for the mosque should be next to the White House, not Ground Zero. -- Amen, but with a 'sunset clause' for 2012.

---

L-E headline/story: "R E A LLY ? * Family puts 378-year-old farm on market * On Tuesday, the Tuttle Farm (in Dover, NH) went on the market. Asking price: $3.35 million. Under a deed restriction that came with its 2006 designation as conservation land, it can’t be developed into strip malls or condos. * “The farm is operating until we find a buyer who loves this land almost as much as we do,” said Will Tuttle, 63." -- Liberals! They cannot make a go at it being a farm, so they are trying to sell it, but have limited the uses left to interest any buyers ((and eliminated most!) into wanting to developing it.

From the increase in early morning shootings, the Crime Prevention Committee might entertain one of two new programs: "Midnight Curfew" or "Midnight Target Practice".

---

L-E story: "Fox News Channel has been granted a much-coveted frontrow seat in the White House briefing room." -- Aha! The Rahm Emanuel practice of keeping your friends close, but keeping your enemy even closer is more important.

---

From Dana Milbank's commentary: " As lawmakers engaged in this wikidebate, the only solid conclusion to emerge was that President Obama had lost whatever limited control he had over congressional Democrats." -- "Had lost"? potUS Nero-bama has had about as much control over the DIM/DUMB majorities in Congress as Jimmy Carter did.

---

L-E story: "DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The United Arab Emirates outlined plans Sunday to block BlackBerry e-mail, messaging and Web browsing services in a crackdown that could jeopardize efforts to establish the country as an international business hub." -- Excuse me, but isn't that what Congress has done by giving potUS Nero-bama the power to shut down the internet? Must be a socialist-Muslim thing; I don't understand.

Remember hitting wiffle golf balls around your house as a kid, and dreaming that you were having the round of your life, and you needed to sink one last put to win the golf tournament? Stuart Appleby just did that! It was probably a better round than the priest's in "Caddyshack"!
