Online headline: "Lupe Fiasco, Rapper, Thrown Off Stage At Inaugural
Concert" -- Even liberals can't agree on what's liberal enough.

Senator Ashley Judd..... ? .... That's a balloon that she's floating about.
Has the DUMERatic Party gone so far that it cannot find a candidate that won't
pop up on a Google search for "wardrobe malfunction"?

It's heartening to see Americans unite in providing a "smart home" for one
of its heroes, but is it so 'smart' to make it dependent on computer software
that will become obsolete as soon as the very next day? The computer industry
has not been interested in making older software run on newer platforms.

From a fellow BCer, for enhanced revenue collecting, perhaps it's time to
initiate another poll tax. That should pay big dividends as well as verify
status and make voters pay closer attention to whom they vote.

According to various liberal news sources, there are between 270 & 310
Million non-military issued guns in America, close to 1-for-every-American.
According to the FBI, there are about 200 million privately owned guns. The
average gun enthusiast owns several firearms which includes pistols, shotguns,
and rifles of all makes and models. It is often estimated that about 1 in 4
people own any firearms and on average firearms owners own 4 guns each." --
Dang... I'm one short of average.. guess I need to go by a new one... maybe a
rifle this time for myself.. hmmm, maybe even 2 more since I hate being average
or below at anything.

Federal holidays, you know, like the one 'we' had yesterday...well, there
are 10 this year plus a few extra carry over days depending on when they fall.
Yep, federal holidays ... those times when all but the military take a day off
from complaining to those working on those holidays that we need to pay more in
taxes so they get more holidays.

Online quote source: "Don't let your ego get too close to your
position, so that if your position gets shot down, your ego doesn't go with
it.”― Colin Powell"
-- Personally, I think Colin Powell has committed suicide with his
ego.

Have you seen the photo-op pictures of pot-US Obluster doing volunteer work
this weekend? They certainly paralleled his job as president... he looked
ill-prepared for the job, wasn't sure exactly what he was doing, he doesn't
finish it, then leaves it for someone else to have to clean up after him.
---
Mike Owen really stepped in it yesterday when he made a snide remark about
there not being Postal Communal Box Units (CBU's) in "Green Island". He could
have added that most of "Green Island" doesn't have curbs or storm sewers
either, and get less city services-per-tax-dollar than most of Columbus. He
could have also gotten in his car and driven by some of the highest priced
neighborhoods in Columbus and observed the CBU's at the entrances. Pinosa,
Kintyre, and Highlands on Double Churches Rd, and there's a plethora of such on
both sides of River Road past Spring Harbor. 50 lashes with a wet noodle for
'the Inquirer'.

L-E headline: "Inauguration is a reminder of what we fought for" --
And this is what's wrong with this picture..... the war has been long over, but
the fighters don't want to stop and move forward. It's all they know how to
do.

L-E's "Thought for Today": “Advertising has done more to
cause the social unrest of the 20th century than any other single factor.” —
Clare Boothe Luce, American author, politician and diplomat (1903-1987). " ---
She almost got it right... what she should have said is "Political advertising
has done more to cause the social unrest of the 20th century than any other
single factor.”
---
L-E story: "DEARBORN, Mich. — Mc-Donald’s and one of its
franchise owners agreed to pay $700,000 to members of the Muslim community to
settle allegations a Detroit-area restaurant falsely advertised its food as
being prepared according to Islamic dietary law." -- What's next... someone in
Detroit is going to sue that there's not enough headroom for his to ride his
camel in the drive-thru lane? Kow- oops, kamel-towing to nut cases does not win
much favor for McDonald's with me.

The "Debt Ceiling"
doesn't limit the government's spending; the "Debt Ceiling" is the government's
borrowing limit. The incoming revenue and the budget limit what politicians can
officially spend, but the Senate hasn't passed one during pot-US Obluster's
term.
---
Chuck Williams
probably hit on something when questioning the forthrightness of the AFLAC
public relations spinmeister. That's good; it's what an investigative journalist
should be doing. Just wish he's do that with pot-US Obluster's, the Mayor's, and
the Whitewater Project's.
---
L-E story: "WAYNESBORO, Ga. — A study has found that Plant
Vogtle’s emergency evacuation plan for people within 10 miles of the nuclear
site is adequate." -- "adequate"? Is anyone reassured hearing the government's
readiness is 'adequate'? This may be the scariest phrase than, "I'm from the
government, and I'm here to help."
---
L-E headline: "Crowd gathers at Alabama Capitol for King Day" --
Oooops, my bad.. Thought it meant pot-US Obluster's
pseudo-coronation.
---
L-E headline:
"5 hurt in shooting after King parade" --
Combined with shootings in Little Rock, Arkansas, Jackson, MS, and Long Beach,
CA, things were not so Mr
Rogers-ery.
---
L-E story: "Columbus Council will be asked this
afternoon to accept the deed to the old Claflin School from the Muscogee County
School District so the city can investigate the building's suitability to use as
a multi-purpose homeless resource center, according to council's agenda." --
Looks like something could have been done by the MCSD to maintain this building
better even though it abandoned using it decades ago. What will be the
pitfalls of making the building even 'adequate' for a new use. Remember BaKer
High School? When the MCSD board finally got around to talking about doing
something else with it, it was going to be cheaper to tear it down and build
'new' than restore it to a useful
state.
---
L-E story: "BALI, Indonesia — An Indonesian court sentenced a British
grandmother to death on Tuesday for smuggling cocaine worth $2.5 million in her
suitcase onto the resort island of Bali - even though prosecutors had sought
only a 15-year sentence." -- Hey, is there in way we can outsource our criminal
prosecutions to Bali! Sure would save time and tax dollars, and drug/gun crimes
might dry up altogether!
---
It appears that we have
two whitewater projects going on... one with a 'waveshaper' and one without at
the P&E dam site. One thing now it that a section of the dam not breached
has been torn out. What will be the damages if that site gets flooded by an
unpredictable flooding this Spring?
