I know how to shut down the government's desire to confiscate all guns.... tax them ... Put an annual property tax on guns, and the government will not only back off its efforts to confiscate them, the government would probably start subsidizing the gun manufacturers. Another good feature would be that the government would try to recover guns stolen from you so that you could resume paying taxes on them.
