Online headlines to watch: "Chuck Hagel Nomination For Secretary Of Defense Expected Monday" & "Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Sunday the nation's tax woes are behind it, and that it's time to focus on the real issue." -- Both are true, Hagel will get nominated, and focus on the national debt/spending are the real issues, but pot-US Obluster's nomination of a former Republican Senator will be what the media focus is on because the current Republicans will self-destruct on Hagel's nomination which will make them look like they are just against anything that Obluster wants. Truth is, Obluster wants Hagel in play to derail Republicans now, and then as pot-US Obluster's "excuse" when Afghanistan withdrawals blow up in our face.

Republicans are proposing a list of areas for pot-US Obluster to make sincere, adult decisions as to what to cut to get control of expenditures. What makes Republicans think pot-US Obluster is sincere and adult?

Online story: "Appearing on CBS' "Face the Nation," Pelosi offered her strongest endorsement to-date of the 14th Amendment option, which holds that Congress doesn't have the power to use the debt ceiling as a hostage-taking device because the validity of the debt “shall not be questioned.” -- It ain't the "validity of the debt: that's in question; it's the validity of how we got in such debt, and of accumulating more debt that we've got to stop.

Alabama is making a debit card an option for tax refunds. Reasons sound 'utopian' (no check cashing fees, no mail box thefts, etc), but it mainly means refunds will be used to spend rather than catch up on existing debt. I guess it sounds simple to government because it's how government seems to operate itself. New revenues are to be spent on new stuff rather than paying off old stuff.

Since they've 'legalized' recreational use of marijuana, I'm curious as to how Colorado and Washington state are going to handle 'recreational' backyard marijuana gardens and such. I would guess since it's now legal in their minds, that old cases of 'recreational use' will be need to be expunged on the "recreational user's" records. Now, does that mean that recreational users previously prohibited from buying guns because of marijuana arrests will be able to buy guns AND smoke marijuana, too?

The top 3 insurance providers in CA are jumping premiums 20-26% this year. Aren't we glad all 55 of CA's Electoral votes went to Obluster?

With the purity the ACLU claims is it's basis for existence, why isn't the ACLU defending gun ownership, and defending high income taxpayers from being raped by the government?

Hey, pot-US Obluster, here's solar battery powered project that might work...if you can get politicians out into the light occasionally.

Senators Frank & Franken? As Rhett Butler might muse, frankly, I do give a damn!

Of sad note was the picture in the L-E of a group pf black women who were running in a local half-marathon this past Saturday. They were organized and called "Black Girls Run". I have no real concern for that as organizing a group for health is a good thing, but I'm sure that if another group, say all white, women organized themselves as "White Girls Run", the NAACP would have been up-at-arms about this being "race-ism".

Looks like there will be some semblance of a NHL season after all. NHL, that's the National Hockey League which most of us might be unaware of, but why do you announce something like this onthe day of the Bama-Irish game when it won't be a "Sportspage 1" above-the-fold story?

This trophy looks more like a Rugby ball than a football, but it makes you wonder whether coaches now send in plays via texting or not...

The oldest American citizen died yesterday.... 114... hmmm, wonder what the death panel said about her treatment?

Top two movies of the weekend... "Texas Chainsaw 3D" and "Django Unchained" (Movie line: "getting paid to kill white folks...what's not to like'"). We don't need to ban any weapons, we need to ban Hollywood!

Let's hope pot-US Obluster doesn't see this and loan Juan Veldez a half Billion dollars to develop a latte-diesel fuel cell.
