Remember when Mitt Romney said Russia was our biggest global concern? Remember how Factless Shrugged pooh-poohed that and how the mainstream media cackled like a pack of hyenas? Well, how come none of them have apologized to Romney, and why wasn't Romney offered the job given Hillsbury DOUGHgirl/John Karney?

Omega Watch ads featuring Rory McIlroy were pretty concentrated on the PGA coverage. They would have been a lot more effective if Rory was wearing a watch while actually playing.

---
Speaking of golf...Is not the PGA Championship the best TV golf this season? The Number 1 player in the world leads by 1 stroke, but Phil Mickelson is lurking strong.

Online quote source: " “The essence of optimism is that it takes no account of the present, but it is a source of inspiration, of vitality and hope where others have resigned; it enables a man to hold his head high, to claim the future for himself and not to abandon it to his enemy.” - Dietrich Bonhoeffer" -- Right in our face...this is the essence of difference in the Democratic and Republican campaign strategies..The Democrats promise "Hope & Change" for the future to those who don't have it today; the Republicans are focused on reality, and "Hope & Change". Smoke and mirrors political promises that never have to be kept sound better to those who don't know how to accomplish that on their own.
---
Additional comment for above item: As ineffective as the current entitlement funds are (and will always be) at helping people out of poverty, those programs are "proof" that Democrats highlight as their efforts, and it's Republicans who are restraining Democrats from being successful.

Online headline/story: "John Kerry Tells Starving Africans Not to Farm Because it Contributes to Global Warming * During the “Resilience and Food Security in a Changing Climate” panel, Kerry noted that Africa faces a starvation problem. With thousands going to bed hungry each night, it’s undeniable that one of Africa’s largest problems is starvation. * Kerry claimed that “8,000 children die every day” and that one in four children face chronic hunger. However, just minutes later, Kerry rang the alarm bell over the left’s favorite fictitious problem: climate change- the term liberals use to describe any weather variance no matter how minute. * Kerry reminded the crowd that despite the starving children in Africa, they ought to refrain from creating new farms because it contributes to “climate change.” -- " refrain from creating new farms because it contributes to “climate change.”? Good grief.. of course if the conference was being held where John Karney could have gotten there via his yacht, he'd have told them to stop fishing so their nets wouldn't get entangled in his propellers.

HuffPost story: "CHILMARK, Mass. (AP) - President Barack Obama on Saturday fled Washington for his familiar spot on Martha's Vineyard for a two-week summer vacation, which comes as the U.S. is engaged in airstrikes against Islamic militant targets in Iraq." -- "fled Washington"? Hmmm.. even the HuffPost looks like it has stopped putting Kool-Aid in the Water Bottle stations. A couple of years ago, the HuffPost would have announced that Factless Shrugged was off on a well deserved two-week R&R.

L-E story: "The total number of instances of homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny and auto theft rose less than one percent, from 6,201 in the first half of 2013, to 6,247 in the first half of this year. Among those, rape, robbery and auto theft showed the sharpest increases. There were 25 reported rapes this year compared to 16 last year (up 56 percent), 225 robberies this year as opposed to 200 last year (up 12 percent) and 549 auto thefts this year, compared to 496 last year (up 10 percent), the report shows. * Burglaries, aggravated assaults and larceny were within a percentage point or two of last year’s numbers. * At the six-month mark, homicide and larceny were the only two categories that showed a decrease over last year. Homicides were down by one before last week’s three homicides. Larceny was down from 3,742 last year to 3,686 this year, about 1.5 percent." -- Only in the mind of the L-E are homicides "down" 1 from last year's first 6 months.. the guy killed on CSU property didn't count in the L-E records. As for the rest... whether increases or very slight "dips", what's missing from the analysis is that you would think that with the over crowding of our jails, these violent/property crimes would be substantially down just by getting previous criminals off the streets.
---
From above story: " Two recent shootings at a Baker Plaza Drive apartment complex that left one person dead and four others injured have sparked concerns for Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson and police. *
Patrols already have been beefed up and awareness heightened in the area after the two shootings. * “When they are investigating a crime or a couple of crimes, you can bet there is going to be increased patrols and they are looking for patterns and behavior or similar people that may be people of interest they may want to talk to,” Tomlinson said. “The other thing that they are going to have, because this has been a trouble spot, is they are going to have increased patrols as police respond and the criminal intelligence unit gets a better feel of what’s going on.” -- "patrols already have been beefed up"? After the fact really helps...NOT.. but sounds like Mayor Obamalinson is "on top of it".. Truth is.. increased patrols after the fact means reduced patrols elsewhere, and criminals will soon know the spots vacated by police patrols and will move their "business" elsewhere.
---
You know, the $700,000.00 "award" money given out by the Crime Prevention Committee via Council could have put 10 to15 more policemen on the streets.
---
L-E story of murder charge for revolving around a bank robbery: "They used a Chevy Cavalier rented from the owner in exchange for crack cocaine, and Marshall stayed in the car while he and Castille went into the bank, Mars said. He wore an all-black Dickie’s outfit and a multicolored cap with puzzle pieces on it, and he got cash from the bank vault while Castille kept watch over the tellers and ordered customers to lie on the floor, he said." -- "(a car) rented from the owner in exchange for cocaine"? Hmmm, has the IRS audited the car owner's taxes to see if he declared the cocaine as earned income on his 2008 taxes?
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " The doctor with Ebola came here because he is an American, and if he dies, he’d rather be at home. Wouldn’t you?" -- WRONG! Despite mainstream media's insistence our healthcare system 'sucks' compared to other countries, the doctor came here because he knows we have the BEST healthcare services on Earth.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " They used to place signs at road projects saying “Your tax dollars at work.” They should place signs at gun crime scenes saying “Your NRA dollars at work.” -- We know why the
Your Tax Dollars At Work" signs disappeared ... because the people standing around were not working, but the nonfactual dig at the NRA does spark an idea that may be ripe for implementing.. When a legal gun carrying citizen prevents a crime at his/her home or on the streets, then place a sign of notification that the NRA was indeed "working" at that spot.
---
More stupid than most LIV's L-E "soundoff": " It seems a double standard that unions are required to disclose all political spending, while corporations have no similar federal obligations." -- Cut this guys Kool-Aid supply off before he ODs on it!
---
Probably from the same LIV as above's L-E "soundoff": "Speaker of the House Boehner says everything is bad because of Obama. Employment is up, the economy looks good and Obama is still president. No bills passed by House — blame Boehner." -- Hmmm, then how does Harry Reid explain the stack of House bills stacked unopened in his chambers?
---
L-E story: "ROMULUS, Mich. — A 78-year-old Florida woman tried to fly on an international trip from Detroit Metropolitan Airport with almost $41,000 in cash hidden inside her girdle, bra and carry-on bag, federal authorities said." -- Wow.. who'da thought there was still $41,000.00 cash still in Detroit? One thing does stand out: The TSA catching 78 year old women with $41,000.00 in cash - 1; TSA catching the Boston Bomber Brothers traveling out of then back to America - 0.
---
L-E story: "Officials with the Atlanta VA Medical Center are reporting improvements to wait times and care, following a national audit two months ago that identified problems at the facility and prompted further federal review." -- "Officials with the Atlanta VA"? Hmm.. and we are to believe them now because...? This would have been better if a few VA patients had spoken up about it.
---
There was a story in the L-E today about the life. efforst and successes of Columbus' Calvin Smyre. It reminded us of the first GA Lottery.. First opened in 1993, but can we say GA education has really benefited from it? Millions, perhaps billions, of dollars have left the pockets of primarily low income earners to buy tickets with astronomical odds against winning. Graduation rates are still sorrowfully low, college testing companies have "dumbed down" their tests, and colleges have to have remedial course in English and math to get college freshmen up-to-minimum-speed to cope with college level course. Oh...and has the lottery eased the poverty crisis?

Be pulling for Jimmy Beck in the US Amateur starting Monday at the Atlanta Athletic Club's "Highlands Course". Jimmy is a Columbus man currently making collegiate waves at Kennesaw State U. Of course, he grew up learning on the links of Godwin Creek under the programs offered by Fore Kids Columbus.
