Online headline: "Sister of Boston bombing suspect arrested" -- Hmmm, guess the family that PREYS together, SLAYS together.... either that or they bought "Preyer", rather than prayer rugs with them.
---
Seems Souther Cal football star and captain Josh Shaw has been outed from a lie he told as an "I-witness" (as opposed to an actual eye-witness) to his ankle injuries he claimed he received when he was rescuing his nephew. Rumor has it his teammates have given him a new nickname..."Ferguson".
----
Online story: "Legal sales of recreational marijuana in Washington state kicked off in July. But edible pot products like cookies and oils didn’t hit the shelves until earlier this month because of more strict regulations. * Now, “drinkables,” or cannabis-infused beverages, are reaching stores." -- Brings a whole new side to DUI, and "Open container" laws.
---
From above story: "Mirth Provisions also has plans to sell a line of cold-brewed coffees infused with cannabis * if the infused coffee does hit the market, though, the company says it will allow customers to “swim off into a day of work or play filled to the brim with pure joy." -- Hmmm, Guess "Casual Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday" will make Friday the "Hey, Dude, Where's my Car Day"
---
Did you know about the EB-5 visa program? Seems there's a U.S. government residency plan that allows foreigners who "invest" $500,000.00 in American businesses to jump to the front of the immigration line. Well, 300 Chinese "investors" or so were doing just this but "invested" in a scam business with a man from Chicago. -- Ooops my bad.. though this was about Chinese purchasers of Obamageddon's National Debt bonds.
---
Seriously.. did you know about the EB-5 visa program? Bet those who took that deal are kicking themselves for not knowing they could just walk across the border from Mexico for free.
---
HuffPost headline: "ISIS Says It's Burning Marijuana Fields In Syria" -- Hmmm.. rumors have it that Colorado has offered to trade 5 domestic terrorists...Obamageddon, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, and Holder to them if they stop.
---
HuffPost story: "A new study released Wednesday finds that increasing San Francisco's minimum wage would give raises to 23 percent of the city's workforce, helping to reduce the city's growing income inequality.
* San Francisco voters this fall are set to consider a ballot measure that would raise the local minimum wage from $10.74 to $15 an hour by 2018." -- Hmmm...a "ballot measure" on what private businesses must pay workers... about 200 years ago, this concept was so noted : "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship." Though this quote has been attributed to both Alexander Tytler (1747-1813) and Alexis de Tocqueville (1805-1859), never has it become so well illustrated as it has since LBJ created the "Great Society", and Obamageddon dotted the "i"s and crossed the "t"s.
---
HuffPost "story": "A new poll from Marquette Law School finds Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) narrowly trailing his Democratic opponent, Mary Burke. * Forty-nine percent of individuals considered likely to vote in November said they would support Burke, compared to 47 percent who plan to vote for Walker * The Marquette Law School Poll surveyed 815 registered voters, 609 of whom were considered likely to vote, by phone from Aug. 21 to 24." -- Hmmm... "story" because the chart printed with the HuffPost take shows Walker with a 1.6% lead on August 27th!
---
HuffPost "headlie": "Democrats Warn GOP About Risking Another Government Shutdown" -- Despite House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) specifically... unequivocally stating House Republicans would not shut down the government, the HuffPost promotes the Democrat "wish" for an "October Surprise" campaign issue.
---
Quote passed along by a fellow BCer: "“A liberal paradise would be a place where everybody has guaranteed employment, free comprehensive healthcare, free education, free food, free housing, free clothing, free utilities, and only law enforcement has guns." "And believe it or not, such a place does, indeed, exist. It's called prison." - Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Maricopa County Sheriff's" -- Hmmm, maybe if we scrapped "prison" from the marquis, and substituted "Utopia", the libs would get behind the program...
---
Online headline: "Saudi Foreign Minister: Time for Islamic World to Recognize Israel" -- "recognize Israel"? I think the Islamic world has recognized Israel for quite a while.. what the Islamic world needs to do is "accept" Israel.
---
Online story: "Last other night’s Emmys was pretty tame, but one liberal comedian tried to make it more entertaining. On the red carpet beforehand, Sarah Silverman pulled out a pen and showed it to E!’s Giuliana Rancic bragging, “This is my pot, liquid pot.” -- Hmmm... since the Awards were held in California.. as opposed.. say..Colorado or Washington...why didn't some of the scores of police/security forces make an arrest? Since it was shown on NBC, why hasn't the FCC shut NBC down?
---
It's known that US Corporations have $2.1 TRILLION socked away in foreign accounts. You know, corporate tax reform could bring that money back quickly, but where's the liberals' concern about the $7 TRILLION Obamageddon has swapped out in debt since he took office?
---
You know, as many rounds of golf Obamageddon plays, you'd think he'd walk as a good example for good health, and..and so he could create a new White House staff position as Caddymaster.

Online story: "Appearing with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and California Governor Jerry Brown in Los Angeles, Peña Nieto called for amnesty legislation and more open borders while blasting governors who have taken a tough stance on illegal immigration. * Mexico President Enrique Peña Nieto called on other states to "evolve" like California so the United States can be more like his home country. Moonbeam Brown has already given illegal immigrants driver's licenses, made California a sanctuary state, and signed the California DREAM Act. * Peña Nieto thanked Brown for his generosity toward illegal immigrants and called on other governors to follow suit, chastising those who are against open borders as unethical.* "This is the other Mexico," Peña Nieto reportedly "said of the United States, which is property to an estimated 11 million Mexican immigrants," according to the Los Angeles Times." -- One of two things need to happen.. Sgt Tahmooressi should be released since the Mexicam president says technically that there was no border so Tahmooressi didn't violate a border-crossing law, or, and my favorite.. the US should "gift" California to Mexico which would enable the US to get back to it's roots.

State rights ... they are under fire by OObamaCRAP and Common Core.. the same goes with federal hiway funding. How can the federal government make rules about funding/not funding federal projects that should be individual state's choices. Threats to withhold funding are a common tool/practice, but it's really not the federal government's money. The money was taken from the citizens of the individual states.

I've waited a day so I could "study" the report on the forum headed up by Jerry Vollmer before responding. Motivationist Jerry Vollmer, author of "Schools Cannot Do It Alone" was in town Tuesday. He was wowed by a "crowd" of 400 (I do wish there was a breakdown by profession included.. my guess is the bulk were from the MCSD school system). An L-E quote: "Vollmer used to insist the problems in schools could be fixed if they just ran like a business. But a teacher prompted him to rethink that idea. Vollmer’s ice cream company could return unsatisfactory blueberries to the supplier; the teacher must teach every child she receives.
* “Can we graft certain practices and procedures from the private sector onto the rarefied culture of preK-12? Yes. But it does not make it a business,” Vollmer said. “Your schools have no control over the quality of the raw material. They take what the parents send." -- ""your schools... take what the parents send"????Good grief.. does Vollmer and the MCSD system think 4, 4, 5 year olds are lost cause on the first day they enter a classroom? If so, this is probably the best explanation of why students are floundering. THe school system's JOB is to take, as Rush Limbaugh so accurately describes, "minds full of mush", and fill it with what the children need to know to successfully navigate through the world.

Either a LIV's or Mayor Obamalinson staffer's L-E "soundoff": "The trails, whitewater, zip line, etc., used minimal public finding. But if it will make you happy, we can eliminate it all and return to the days when our kids couldn’t wait to leave Columbus." -- Good grief.. Millions of tax dollars have gone it all these "ventures", and none of them will produce positive cash revenue through fees or sales taxes. It's not just what has already been spent out of public coffers, but the amounts that will come out of such in progressive years.
---
Another LIV or Mayor Obamalinson staffer's L-E "soundoff": " Kudos to Sam Wellborn. Money for good roads doesn’t just fall from the sky. Georgia politicians from both parties need to get some guts and make at least a small increase in the gas tax." -- Revenues are not the problem.. proper expense management and planning are the problem. How about finding a way to put fees on bicycles and electric chargers for hybid vehicles.
---
Questioning L-E "soundoff": " As I recall, the premise for creating rapids was to restore the river to its natural state. Did they have zip lines in the 1800s?" -- An even better question is why weren't the dams fully removed as part of the restoration, and why were manmade "wave-shapers" included in what was initiated as a restoration-back-to-the-1850s project?
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “The man who views the world at fifty the same as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life.” — Muhammad Ali, American boxing champion (1942- ).-- Hmmm,, same can be said for those who voted for Democratic Party candidates in their first few election opportunities.
---
From L-E editorial commentary: " Council voted unanimously for a plan to construct a tunnel under the troublesome intersection, using money earmarked in the regional sales tax for transportation. * The tunnel is the most expensive of the options presented to council." -- First I am shocked that tunneling is the most expensive option, but not surprised since Council, most of it, anyway, thinks $244,000,00 for a public outhouse is a bargain. Now as to the total costs.. these cannot be summed up on an engineer's table. With the tunnel system in one of our most crime ridden areas, a new crime opportunity has arisen. Lookouts can be stationed at either end and an awaiting accomplice(s) can be alerted by cellphone when a pedestrian or target car enters the tunnel, and whether the "coast is clear" of police at the time.
