You know, we are hearing all sorts of reasons that McDonald's is having revenue problems.. most of the "solutions" seem to be based on menu problems/mistakes. The real problem is that McDonald's strategy use to be focusing on attracting kids so their parents would stop to buy food stuff for the whole family. Now, it seems, that the current strategy is to remodel all the child-appealing aspects into a Starbucks coffee house mentality, but, by doing so.. no children are attracted to them.

Speaking of McDonald's, I stopped in the one on Bradley Park yesterday. Before I ordered, I asked the order person how much tax they were ringing up..8% or 7% (the 2009 MCSD SPLOST tax expired on December 31st at midnight). She went and asked, and her sipervisor said "8%, but we're changing tomorrow". I then left without ordering.. had the same thing happen at Zaxby's, Dunkin Donuts, and IHOP. Technically, retail outlets who have not adjusted their registers to new tax rate are "committing a crime". They are collecting an unauthorized tax. In fact, who's pocket is that tax going into? Legally, neither the state nor the MCSD can accept such revenues. On the other hand, Sam's Club/Walmart and Publix had their registers already reprogrammed.

You know, some businesses will take the tax change and make a windfall profit on it. Places that have a per unit price that includes all taxes for things.. gas stations.. and say, movie houses. Gas should have dropped 2+-cents on January 1st.. but movie houses will be the biggest bandits. Two tickets for $21.00.. add a couples popcorn/drink special for another $20.00, and you're up to $41.00 (tax included).. but on January 1st, there was a 41-cent tax reduction.. think you'll get any of that back?

California Governor Moonbeam Brown says California has redefined what an American is. Besides California not being qualified or authorized to do so, there is one thing pretty obvious.. Governor Brown has raised to definition of government stupidity to new heights..His latest 104 Gubernatorial Pardons include felons who committed crimes with guns.. now, a lot of those will have their conviction blocked from background searches when they go to buy a new gun, or.. if caught with even an illegal one, it won't show up as another gun offense.

Yesterday, I brought up a law in Maryland in which out-of-state vehicles are targeted (Hey Holder.. isn't this "profiling", and are you attacking Maryland with the same disdain you presented concerning other police actions?). the law in Maryland allowing unwarranted searches of out of state cars if a trooper stops you for any reason, asks you if you have a legal gun, and you're honest about it...why is it constitutional? Courts have no problem saying one state must honor another state's same sex marriage laws, yet the same state is not bound to honor the other state's laws on legal possession and transport of guns.

Yesterday, illegal aliens could start applying for driver's licenses in California. You know, I had to provide a certified birth certificate and proof of residence just to renew my GA license which I have had for more than 50 years. How does that work for American citizens in CA? Oh.. and proof of insurance BEFORE I got it renewed!
