I know Dr Lewis had been applauded for altering the area breakdown into 3 districts versus the straight North/South division of the past, but it sure sounds like he's going to be beating the old drum hard to get a decisive/devisive vote result on the SPLOST vote.

After watching the latest MCSD board meeting replay, Frank Myer hit the nail on the head that raising the SPLOST issue now is not popular with the man on the street. Unfortunately, the school system knows this, and is counting on a low turnout, heavily weighted with school system employees voting for their own , interests to carry the vote. There are 6,000 employees..add another 6,000 spouses, throw in employee parents/parents-in-laws, so, in effect, there's a self-serving voter base of close to 25,000 people.

Can I call'em..before the 2009 SPLOST was voted on, I challenged the absurdity of there being $223 MILLION being submitted since 5 years of the previous record 1 year collection ($36M) would only bring in about $180 Million, and that was not going to happen under the current economic conditions. I predicted that the total collected would probably be $45-$50 million short. At the last board meeting it was revealed that the SPLOST brought in a total of $174 MILLION, $49,000,000.00 SHORT of the goal of $223,000,000.00
