Online headline: "N. Korea offers to suspend nuclear testing * North Korean officials announced Saturday they would be willing to halt their controversial nuclear tests under one condition." -- Hmmm.. all Kim Jomg Un wants is for Obamageddon to suspend some joint US-South Korea drills. Kim Jong Un is negoiating with the wrong person..The American people would gladly exchange Obamageddon and both Clintons for Kim Jong Un's nuclear plans.

Online headline:"Katy Perry reveals Lenny Kravitz will perform with her at the 2015 Super Bowl Halftime show" -- Who is Lenny Kravitz? The only Kravitz I know was the snoopy neighbor who spied in Samantha in "Bewitched"..possibly her son?
---
Online story: "General Motors (GM) is expected to take the wraps off an all-new Chevy Volt in Detroit next week. * The new Volt will replace a car that was touted as a symbol of GM's post-bankruptcy renaissance" -- Good grief... it's unnamed as we speak, but.. after the 2014 election, I'm sure GM is trying to capture some interest of moderate libs and independents.. how about "Re-Volt".

HuffPOO headline: "French Prime Minister Manuel Valls: We Are At War Against Terrorism And Radical Islam": --- Hmmm,, can we send Bomber Brother 2 to France for trial? Maybe Hollande will dust off a retired guillotine.. dull the blades, and put BB2 in face up so he can see the blade coming.

Went to Atlanta yesterday to have a b'day lunch with our daughter from Athens. You'd think with dropping gas prices that there'd be lotsa traffic but there wasn't. In fact, you think that the billboard Industry would be perking again as well, but saw as many , or more, empty billboards as well as active ones. Low gas prices.. empty billboards... the economy is not recovering..
---
Thinking about all those empty billboards..reading them is sorta "natural".. "instinctive'... but when you read billboards that aren't advertising something other than "Available for Rent" by the dozens, you get the picture that other Ad Agencies don't think billboards offer their clients much "bang for the buck".

L-E headline/story: "Columbus State University plans ‘transformational’ expansion on Ledger-Enquirer property * At the historic and architectural board, CSU will be seeking approval for a project that will retain the Mediterranean-style portion of the Ledger-Enquirer property. The structure is on the National Register of Historic Buildings. * But the rest of the newspaper’s 160,000-square-foot complex — built and expanded on two acres since 1930 — will be torn down to make way for a three-story structure that will house classrooms, meeting space and administrative offices for faculty and students studying to become nurses, teachers, principals and counselors." -- You know.. the Ledger-Enquirer was praised for keeping the existing architecture when it expanded its facility.. why is there not architectural backlash for wanting to demolishing that portion?
---
Went to a basketball game at CSU on January 3rd.. a combination to welcome back a close friend, and to applaud anoither. I understand why students are given "free admission" ("free"? parents pay a ton for a pass to athletic events AND ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS) for their children), but there was a sign outside the Lumpkin Center that read, "Free Admission for Faculty and Staff"... Why? The faculty and staff are paid.. why do they get "free admission"? And since they do get "free admission", has IRS cracked down of the faculty and staff for hiding income? Sorta like the City's policy of the Civic Center giving "free tickets" coerced from promoters to City employees.

Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " You have to enjoy the predictability of Republicans. As long as they can find some way to vilify a sitting Democrat, they’ll never let the truth get in their way." --- "Republicans..never let truth get in their way"? How about "Democrats.. never let truth get into their campaign promises"?
---
L-E "soundoff" from a savvy voter: "Apparently several businesses, including garden centers, have not gotten the message that the sales tax has dropped from 8 to 7 cents. Please check your receipts to make sure you’re not overcharged." -- Technically.. businesses who are collecting an unauthorized tax are committing a "crime". The MCSD 2009 SPLOST authority ceased at midnight on December 31st. It's a local tax that businesses collect and send to the state who, in turn, return it to MCSD system. Now that it's no longer a viable tax, taxes collected will not be returned to the MCSD system..by law...Then where does the money end up? It's not the state's and it's not the MCSD system's, and it's not owned by the business owner who collected it. In fact, it's YOUR money. Demand to keep your money! Make the business owner adjust your bill if he's still trying to steal it from your pocket.

L-E story: " A Columbus man was shot in the left thigh during a dispute Friday, police said.
The man, 28, was taken to Midtown Medical Center, where he was in good condition after the 12:35 p.m. shooting in the 100 block of 20th Street" -- "100 block of 20th Street" ..couldn't the L-E just have said "on the RiverWalk"? Apparently not...

Haven't seen it..yet, but the movie "Selma" is out, and I'm sure, like the movie "Glory Road" historical accuracy will be in question.. to address such now is important. Here's a quick recap of the original bill:
"The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was introduced in Congress on March 17, 1965 as S. 1564, and it was jointly sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield (D-MT) and Senate Minority Leader Everett Dirksen (R-IL), both of whom had worked with Attorney General Katzenbach to draft the bill's language. Although Democrats held two-thirds of the seats in both chambers of Congress after the 1964 Senate elections, Johnson worried that Southern Democrats would filibuster the legislation, and therefore he enlisted Dirksen to help gain Republican support. * On May 26, the Senate passed the bill by a 77-19 vote (Democrats 47-16, Republicans 30-2); only Senators representing Southern states voted against it."
Hmmm Democrats held 2/3rds majorities in both Congressional bodies, and LBJ was a Democrat.. yet the 1965 Voting Rights bill couldn't get passed (even though both Houses had veto-proof majorities had LBJ vetoed this bill) without the Republicans. Hey, Southern Black Bloc voters.. only 47 Democrats wanted Civil Rights voter reform, yet you still vote Democrat!
---
Of note.. of the two Republicans who voted against the 1965 Voters Rights bill.. one was Texas Senator John Tower, who, earlier in his life, he passed out handbills for the campaign of liberal Democrat and future U.S. Senator Ralph Yarborough and the other was SC Senator Strom Thurmond.. who at best was a RINO. Of course you know Democrat Senator Robert Byrd of WV voted a resounding "NO!"

From the "it didn't take long before lib regain their senses" department - L-E commentary headline of Mary Sanchez: "Charlie Hebdo victims martyrs, but no saints" -- Libs can only sustain grief for a few moments when it involves non-liberal ideals...less than a week for Ms Sanchez on this massacre of free speech in France... I wonder if she made it for more during the aftermath of 9-01-11.
