Online headline: Frein charged with murder, could face death" -- "could"? And we wonder why our crime rate climbs....at a minimum, even in the world of political correctness, the (_*_) SHOULD face death!
---
Frein is a coward.. why didn't he die with his beliefs rather than drag his miserable life out.
---
Was glad to see the San Francisco Giants win. It gives me hope that San Francisco voters might take that euphoria to the polls and give us something in return..a replacement for Pelosi.
---
You know.. I'm willing to bet that there were Democrats out registering voters in the riotous aftermath in San Francisco after the Giants won the World Series.
---
The retired co-founder of The Weather Channel went on Fox News and literally announced that the "climate change/global warming" being caused by man a "myth".. of course the current active management quickly countered with rebuttal.. DOH! The Weather Channel has it's future based on alarmist weathercasting bringing in more audience and ad revenues.. it's actually biased to promote such.
---
HuffPost headline: "Woody Harrelson Wants You To Go Vote For Climate Action" -- You know.. it is about time we take "climate action".. let's "globally cool" any movies/entertainment of these self-appointed experts.
---
HuffPost headline: "Ginsburg Was Right: Texas' Extreme Voter ID Law Is Stopping People From Voting" -- Good grief! That's the purpose of photo-IDs! To stop people who aren't able to prove they have the privilege to vote! The fact that it's stopping people, not voters, just shows how needed better voter ID laws are needed.
---
From above HuffPost story: " A disabled woman in Travis County was turned away from voting because she couldn’t afford to pay her parking tickets. An IHOP dishwasher from Mercedes can’t afford the cost of getting a new birth certificate, which he would need to obtain the special photo ID card required for voting. A student at a historically black college in Marshall, who registered some of her fellow students to vote, won't be able to cast a ballot herself because her driver's license isn't from Texas and the state wouldn't accept her student identification card." -- If these are the best examples of Texas people being denied the privilege to vote.. then the law is protecting the votes of those who are voting. What I want to know is how a person with an out of state driver's license could even be expected to be able to register to, much less actually vote in Texas elections.
---
This brings up another contention I've mentioned in the past.. How is it states, and particularly cities in those states that have colleges/universities, allow out-of-state students to register to vote, yet demand they pay out-of-state tuition charges.
---
Yesterday, I posted that the fed stopping it's purchase program on long term bonds would likely negatively affect the rate of selling the bonds the Redevelopment Referendum would issue. Straight from the "Revitalizing Columbus" answer person.. comes this response: "Revitalizing Columbus Communities Hal - That is why investors will line up for the bonds - - they are "junk bonds" and the investors know that. They have higher interest rates and are very marketable." Good grief, you better check on whether any bond funds your account manager is buying with your money include these. The basic purpose of buying "junk bonds" is to "average up" what the bond manager claims as your ROI, but that's only on paper.. the "junk bonds" will probably decrease in redemption value wiping out any paper gains on interest.
---
Know Nothing Nunn's ads seem to have a pattern to them. All the whiners about Perdue's management are women..The Dollar General ad was pathetic as was the Pillowtex one. I really wonder if those women were not paid actresses, and wonder why she didn't have any men in her ads...does she have something against men?
---
Oh, as if there's the necessity of another reason to vote for Perdue, remember, a vote for Perdue is a vote against Harry Reid.
---
It's only Friday and the winner of the ugly football uniforms is already determined..Louisville ought to be embarrassed with what Adidas sent them. You know.. ugly uniforms are one thing, but wearing ugly uniforms for a "home game" is a completely different story. Combined with a loss, think about the shock of alumni leaving with a picture of those ugly uniforms tacked onto the memory of a loss.
---
Online story: "A trend seen by prolife activists that frequently engage college students on campuses nationwide is the growing acceptance of post-birth abortion, or killing the infant after he or she is born, campus prolife outreach leaders tell The College Fix." -- Hmmm.. in a way, a very LIMITED way, I actually agree with the college students who think killing an infant after birth is OK for parents.. in fact, I think the parents of the college students who think this owe it to the world to kill their college children. Today would be good.
---
WTVM9 story: " The death of a local father of five shows the power of social media, with multiple comments on Facebook, including one from Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson. * The Mayor responded, saying: "an outrageous murder that appears to be drug related. The first murder in 60 days. May it be the last and may people realize that participating in or even being remotely connected to a drug culture is a deadly business. I am sorry for your loss * We reached out to the Mayor's office, she declined to comment any more on Monday's murder because it is an ongoing investigation." -- Good grief.. Mayor Obamalinson thinks it's "OK" to comment on Facebook, but not to news reporters because it's "an ongoing investigation"? Next she'll be telling us her Facebook account was "hacked" by some right-wing militia nut.
---
Soapbox moment: L-E story: "For the second straight year, the Muscogee County School District improved its high school graduation rate * Carver is the only Muscogee high school whose graduation rate dropped this year, from 61.3 percent in 2013 to 58.6 percent in 2014, now ranking last in the county." -- This is enough to make any new SPLOST request by the MCSD system/board an outrage. Carver has had more money spent on it in the last 22 years than any other school, and is the most educationally modern facility in the system, yet we taxpayers get nothing in return for our money. You would think the MCSD would have made whatever necessary efforts it took to make the results of rebuilding Carver an example of what throwing "more money" into education can do.. well, if this is an example of what we're getting, the MCSD should be cutoff from getting more.
---
You know...why aren't politicians REQUIRED to put their party affiliation in/on ads/signs? With the shenanigans and scandals we have come to expect, we should be warned as to what candidates are likely to do in office if we give'em our vote.
---
I hate when Democratic politicians campaign on "evil special interests" when there is no more "evil" a "special interest" as a Democrat politician trying to convince voters that he/she cares about anything but getting elected/reelected.
---
Online story: "As many as 20 to 30 former Guantanamo Bay detainees released within the last two to three years are suspected by intelligence and Defense officials of having joined forces with the Islamic State and other militant groups inside Syria" -- "20 to 30"? If that's all that can be accounted for, does Obamageddon know where any of the other "parolees" are?
---
I really am opposed to allowing voting on Sundays... but it's not based on any religious aspect.. I just think that during any campaign season, there ought to be one day a week to "give it a rest".
---
L-E story: "When Calvin “Teddy” Grimes died in the hospital 10 months after he was gunned down at Third Avenue and Sixth Street in Columbus, his body was sent not to a crime lab, but to a funeral home. * By the time forensic pathologist Steven Atkinson got Grimes’ corpse, it already had been embalmed," -- Forget the obvious ineptness, I want to know if the hospital also sent the bill to the funeral home or did it send the bill to the taxpayers?
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " To the person responsible for the ridiculous, slanderous sign at the intersection of Miller and Warm Springs Road, please take it down. That kind of bitterness will kill you." -- I guess Forrest Gump was right.. "Stupid is as stupid does". Chances are I would not see this sign or know what's on it. Chances are that most people would never see this sign or know what's on it. Now, the sign will reach more people simply because they are curious enough to drive by and see for themselves. Nice move, Forrest, Jr.
---
L-E story: " CHICAGO — A man whose confession had helped free a death row inmate has been released from an Illinois prison after he recanted and a judge vacated his conviction." -- Good grief.. is there anything the Democrats in Chicago won't do to get out the vote?
---
L-E headline: "Columbus police: Serious crimes up to highest level since 2009" -- See.. if our local elections for Mayor/Council and School Board weren't held until November, we'd have all this info to make choices with. Mayor Obamalinson couldn't lie about crime and gangs, and the School Board incumbents would have to explain the wasteful expenditures associated with Carver.

Online headline: "Jeb Bush: Obama handling of Ebola 'incompetent'" -- And.. his point? Or as Obamageddon's caddy might say,, that's par for the course.
---
Rumor has it a reporter asked Tim Hudson, "Now that you've won the World Series, what are you going to do next?", and he answered "Going to Phenix City". Of course, that recording is on the floor of the editing room.
---
Recent jihadist events have the government beefing up security at hundreds of federal buildings. Wouldn't more citizens be better protected if the government beefed up border and airports/ports that have foreigners trying to get into America?
---
When her lips are moving....you know.. Mayor Obamalinson is the quintessential liberal... she's a politician, a lawyer, and a Democrat.. and a victim of a bad economy and being a woman... she would be the perfect spokesperson to have taken over Jay Carney's White House job.
---
You know.. it's an absolute travesty that the best Mayor Obamalinson can do to alleviate taxpayers on the Redeployment Referendum issue is to "assure" (lips moving) us we are protected by the "tax freeze" while it has been her number goal to eliminate the "tax freeze".
---
A new Fox Poll says 83% of Americans are concerned about the future. Guess that means 17% are only concerned with today. Hmmm, 17% of 300,000,000 is 51,000,000 which about sums up the food stamp and non-reachable voters Romney was crucified for stating.
---
Online story: "FORT KENT, Maine - K(_*_)ci Hickox, a nurse who treated Ebola patients in West Africa, broke her quarantine by stepping outside with her boyfriend and speaking briefly to reporters Wednesday night. * State and local police could only watch from across the street because a judge hadn't signed off on a court order sought by state health officials. * "I remain appalled by these home quarantine policies that have been forced upon me even though I am in perfectly good health," Hickox said" -- You know.. what kind of person would risk the health of others by arrogantly exposing people she knows to unknown health risks. She should be arrested/charged the same as an active AIDS victim who intentional has relationships without informing partners of such.
---
Online story: "Two bears fought in a rural New Jersey neighborhood, and a brave bystander caught all the exciting action." -- "brave bystander"?...hmmm... wonder if he would have been so "brave" if he'd known they were fighting over who was going to have him for dinner?
---
Online story: " Long Island man beheaded his mother, played with her severed head and then jumped in front of a train, police said." -- Good grief... now California's Senator Feinstein and Representative Pelosi will introduce new laws to ban knives... and trains, then call for an investigation as to what victimized the son.
---
Forget OObamaCRAP, even immigration and education as issues, what Republicans should focus on is whether voters want change, or do they want the continued foreign policy fiascos like ISIS, Iraq, Afghanistan, Benghazi, Ebola, Gitmo, Taliban swaps, and Sgt Tahmooressi's Mexican incarceration to continue.
---
Online story: "North Korean strongman Kim Jong-Un reportedly had 10 senior government officials executed –- for watching South Korean soap operas.* All 10 were killed by firing squad * They were accused of blasphemous crimes like illegally watching the soap operas, graft and other various charges." -- Rumors have it that MSNBC has hired Kim Jong-Un to reenact this for a reality show... only in Washington where the Senate is a soap opera and graft abounds.
---
HuffPost headline/story: "Tensions Flare In Illinois After School Board Member Tells Parents To 'Shut Up' * The meeting ended soon after that, putting further strain on a situation that has kept about 17,000 students in one of Illinois’ largest communities out of school for weeks." -- Yeah.. those teachers are really in it "for the children".....
---
Online story: "A Texas man who unexpectedly pleaded guilty to killing his two adopted stepsons in 1986 after years of claiming his innocence was released from prison Wednesday and headed for a halfway house and strict parole supervision for likely the rest of his life." -- "killing adopted stepsons"? Justice here should include his having a GPS chip installed in his brain, and every blood relative of the two boys be given a GPS locator watch, and a "00" carry permit.
---
HuffPost story: "African-Americans in Minneapolis are far more likely to be arrested for minor offenses than white residents, according to a new report. * The ACLU of Minnesota released a report this week showing that a black person is 8.86 times more likely to be arrested than a white person for disorderly conduct, 7.54 times more likely to be arrested for vagrancy and 11.5 times more likely to be arrested for marijuana possession * These same types of disparities have cropped up in other cities like New York. When confronted with these statistics, police often say they are simply arresting the people who are committing crimes, regardless of their race." -- The ACLU is probably right.. so is the New York police response. Nothing will alter these statistics until the cultural decay is reversed, and crime, major or petty, is not a first alternative to life on the streets.
---
Online story: "STOCKHOLM (AP) - Sweden's new government says it has recognized a Palestinian state, a move declared by the prime minister as a priority for the left-leaning minority coalition." -- You know.. why does the Jewish community support leftist politics? Israel is really our only ally in the Mid-East when you get down to it.
---
Online story: "The White House on Wednesday sought to tamp down the controversy over a magazine piece that detailed deep tensions between the U.S. and Israel – and quoted an unnamed senior Obama administration official calling the Israeli leader a “ch*ckensh*t.” * Administration officials, including White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, did not deny the quote. They also did not signal there would be any robust effort to find out who said it. * But Alistair B(_*_)skey, spokesman for the National Security Council, said the criticism does not reflect how the rest of the administration views Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. " -- "did not deny the quote"? No "robust effort to find out who said it"? "does not reflect how the the rest of the administration views Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu"? GOOD GRIEF! What a slaap in the face of America's Jewish community as well as Netanyahu! Somebody.. and the person who hired/appointed him/her should be out on their (_*_)sses. This also explains why Obamageddon prefers to use ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant ) versus ISIS.. ISIS is correct, but ISIL includes Israel rather than separates it.
---
Online headline: "More than 90% of Fortune 500 companies use Red Hat technologies" -- Oooops, my bad.. Thought "casual Friday" was going to become "purple dress" day.
---
I posted a story here and on "Revitalizing Columbus Commuities" about another government involved, bond backed redevelopment project failure ( http://broadlandproperty.com/bond-backed-projects-offer-no-guarantees/ ). "Revitalizing Columbus Communities"'s response: "Revitalizing Columbus Communities These aren't TADs." My response: " They are government assisted redevelopments. Not a nickles worth of difference ."
---
How scuzzy can TV law suit solicitations get than for a law firm to try to get clients based on them getting cancer BECAUSE of hysterectomies? Obviously, the bottom has not been reached. Hysterectomies have eased the minds of women with family DNA histories of cancer for decades, and now lawyers want to rip off doctors/insurances companies for caring.

Online story:"Mercer University wants to build a $40 million to $50 million hotel, restaurant and student housing complex just across Mercer University Drive from the entrance to campus, and it wants the Macon-Bibb County government’s help. * Commissioners voted 5-0 in the Operations & Finance Committee to endorse the idea of issuing $23.7 million in bonds. Part of that would help fund the project, and the rest would pay for other work including $10 million to tear down abandoned houses. * The proposal contemplates $8.7 million in bonds for a tax allocation district, or TAD, created in 2012 along the Second Street corridor, which includes the new development area. * Mayor Robert Reichert said the housing is intended to be occupied in the fall 2016 semester. Answering a question from Commissioner Elaine Lucas, Reichert said the student housing wouldn’t pay property taxes and wouldn’t pay into the tax allocation district that’s intended to repay the bond issue, but the hotel and other business space would. * The resolution approved in committee says that if future tax revenue from the TAD isn’t enough to make bond payments, the difference will have to come from Macon-Bibb government’s general fund." -- "if future tax revenue from the TAD isn’t enough to make bond payments, the difference will have to come from Macon-Bibb government’s general fund"? Look familiar?
---
Soapbox moment: While Mercer is a private school, the University System of GA has 33 member institutions. There's a statewide referendum issue on the ballot that "Allows property owned by the University System of Georgia and operated by providers of student housing and OTHER FACILITIES to remain exempt from taxation" The initiative parameters are a shade different... "Shall property owned by the University System of Georgia and utilized by providers of college and university student housing and OTHER FACILITIES continue to be exempt from taxation to keep costs affordable?" "keep costs affordable?" Good grief.. the juniversity system facilities are already parasites on out roads, and police and fire protection, and heaven knows the university system members' ability to add "mandated fees" to tuition costs belie any university system wanting to keep "costs affordable". This is the first time I've even known we have voice in curtailing wasteful university spending habits, and at the same time, we can alleviate the extra burden of taxpayers paying the universities share of basic government expenses. Vote NO!
---
I'd really like to see proof of whether the women ( note no men were involved) used in Know Nothing Nunn's "Pillowtex" ad berating David Perdue worked there and are representative of workers there.... Looking at them, if they are even representative of Pillowtex workers , then Pillowtex was in worst shape than even Perdue thought when he accepted the job of trying to turn Pillowtex around. At least "outsourcing" allowed those women to be downsized with dignity than being outright fired.
---
How biased can a liberal media get? The Charlotte Observer endorsed Incumbent Democrat Senator Kay Hagan in spite of her being "a disappointment" and doing but "minimum" during her term. There seems to be no bottom to the depths liberals will accept ineptness among themselves.
---
Deal nails Carter: "“When I say I’ve added money for education, he says I cut. That’s Washington math. I was in Congress. I know they only understand addition,” he said of Democrats. “The only way they understand subtraction is the funding of the military.”
---
Online story: "Acting one week before Election Day in a state with closely contested races for governor and a seat in the United States Senate, a Georgia judge on Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit that accused election officials of failing to fully process thousands of pending voter registration applications. * Judge Christopher S. Brasher, of the Fulton County Superior Court, said in a 14-page ruling that he believed state and county officials were complying with the Georgia elections standards that govern voter registration. * Judge Brasher, who sits in Atlanta, issued his decision four days after he heard oral arguments in the litigation filed by the NAACP and the New Georgia Project, an officially nonpartisan group founded by the state House’s Democratic leader, Stacey Abrams." -- "New Georgia Project, an officially nonpartisan group founded by the state House’s Democratic leader, Stacey Abrams"? There wasn't anything non=partisan about the New Georgia Project registration drive in Columbus.. I'm a witness to that. The literature was decided partisan and appearing to comply with the Secretary of State's criteria for such a drive was purely an ethics. if not criminal, violation.
---
Online story: " The Federal Reserve plans to keep a key interest rate at a record low to support a job market that’s improving but still isn’t fully healthy and help lift inflation from unusually low levels. As expected, it’s also ending a bond purchase program that was intended to keep long-term rates low." -- "ending a bond purchase program that was intended to keep long-term rates low" Wow! Another nail in the TAD referendum coffin.. selling bonds at lower rates just got "tased", and if bond buyers hesitate.. believe... the Mayor's contention that the City has no responsibility for their integrity.. the bonds may become categorized as "Junk Bonds".
---
Online story: "Attorney General Eric Holder says he has one regret: his department's court order for Fox News reporter James Rosen's emails labeling him a criminal "co-conspirator." -- Good grief.. how inanely revealing... a man of "justice" who literally has no regrets other than getting caught in an act of vengeance. Even Hollywood cannot find a person to play Pric Holder's persona in a movie role.
---
Online story: "The mother of an eight-year-old wants to know why a Tennessee school teacher gave her child a handout from the Nation of Islam that portrayed the presidents on Mount Rushmore as being racists." -- What I want to know is how Disciples of Louis Farrakhan got on a school campus that has been off limits to Christian groups.
---
L-E headline: "Committee members voice traits they seek for CSU president" -- Well.. the most important trait is the trait of the Committee itself.. as it is, there are too many CSU staff ties to pick someone who can actually be effective. The president needs some people skills, of course, in handling liberal egos, but more importantly, the president needs to show he has productive experience in cost management.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Senate Republicans cut America’s health care budget which is now impacting our Ebola response in order to keep the elite, corporate and personal tax cuts and subsidies. Voters understand your priorities." -- Good grief.. not one Republican Senator voted for OObamaCRAP, and Reid hasn't even let a Republican bill to alter such on the floor for a vote. I'm glad we have photo=-ID requirements for voters, but we need to enact minimum IQ parameters as well.
---
L-E's "Quotable": “Never mistake activity for achievement.” - John Wooden American athletic coach (1910-2010)" -- Sadly Coach Wooden has died.. now we can't ask him if he was analyzing basketball or the Obamageddon's California fund raising junkets.
---
A L-E commentary by an Episcopal priest in NY said, "Jesus spent an estimated two-thirds of his teaching time on wealth and power. His message was clear, if radical: Give wealth away rather than build bigger barns. Submit to others rather than seek power. Love your enemies rather than smite them." -- Jesus also taught our action were free will.. meaning we are responsible for what we do. When He said to "give away wealth", He didn't say to give it to the government to do government programs, He said we should want to do others in and with our hearts. No amount of wealth redistribution by government will get the first person into heaven.
---
L-E headline: "Alabama, Georgia officials hold exercise for dam failure" -- Ooops, my bad.. thought the Referendum Committee had met to get its story straight when the next TAD failure happens.
---
L-E story: "OPELIKA, Ala. — Jurors will return to deliberations today in the perjury trial of a lawmaker accused of lying to a special grand jury investigating possible corruption at the Alabama Statehouse. * Rep. Barry Moore faces charges of perjury and giving false statements to law enforcement officials." -- Hmmm.. how come lying politicians are only tried for lying to other elected officials and not for campaign lies to the voters?
---
Hmmm, if Gurley admitted to getting $3,000.00 after originally denying receiving anything, how much did he really get?
---
L-E headline: "Rosy Halloween spending report looks good for Christmas shopping" -- Hmmm.. maybe.. but it may be that parents are just getting dressed up as bogeymen to tell their children that the government has confiscated their Christmas money.

Online headline: "'Things began to go wrong 10 to 12 seconds in'" -- Ooooops, my bad.. thought this was an analysis of Obamageddon's presidency but it was about a space launch.
---
From the "Shakespeare's 21st Century version" department - Online story: "Al-Qaida is using U.S. airstrikes in Syria as a reason to extend olive branches to the renegade Islamic State group, saying the two should stop feuding and join forces to attack Western targets" -- Good grief... What's in a name....an Islamic jihadist is a Islamic jihadist. Sorta like Crips, Bloods, Latin Kings and MS13 in LA... gangs .. just gangs.
---
Soapbox moment: Let's talk about "diversity"... should we force it on people or just let it happen naturally. If we let it happen naturally, everybody wins...the best of our cultures are gleaned.., differences are respected, even glorified..but that's not happening fast enough for liberals. OK..let's talk about " diversity" being forced to happen. Doesn't this require "profiling" and doesn't "profiling" rankle the basic core of liberalism? Natural diversity is good..very good; forced "diversity" is just another name for "affirmative action", and no one wins.
---
Obamageddon made a big issue of appointing an Ebola Tsar who first turned down an opportunity to speak/listen at a Congressional Committee session, and who's seen him since?
---
You know, I have criticized the way Obamageddon focuses on TelePrompTers as he speaks in that he never looks at the camera and speaks to America from his heart. I was wrong.. it's not the TelePrompTers... Yesterday, he spoke on his current Ebola status.. no TelePrompTers, but he still ping-ponged throughout his speech.. not once did he look directly in the camera and make eye contact or heart connection with America.. who is this guy?
---
An early voter in GA was made to remove his NRA hat because precinct managers determined the NRA was associable with the Republican Party, so violated the 150' no-campaigning zone. Now, if a US Postal Service worker came to vote in uniform and hat, would he be made to strip since unions are associable with Democrats? Probably not.
---
One of Veep Bleep Biden's sons was busted for cocaine use, and mainstream media seems to be pretty much ignoring it for some reason. How come he hasn't become the "poster boy" for legalized medicinal/recreational use?
---
Speaking of Maryland.. an online story: "As Marylanders go to the polls, there are concerns that the vote you cast may not be for the candidate you want. * “We’ve heard from scores of citizens in our district and around the state who have had this problem where they hit one button to vote for one person, and when they go to the summary they see that the other person was checked,” said Del Nik Kipke, (R) Anne Arundel County." -- Ooops.. Maryland must have bid higher for the voting machines used in Philadelphia in 2012 when Mitt Romney received 0 - nada - zip - votes in 59 precincts.
---
Obamageddon is going to Wisconsin to speak against Gov Scott Walker's reelection...I'm guessing because of the teachers and government workers unions are calling in their chips, but what makes those unions think Obamageddon really cares about unions for anything but how their bosses throw donations to Democrats? I mean, don't the other unions remember how he threw all the Coal Miners Union members under his bus?
---
In coal states.. it's not whether there's a light at the end of the tunnel... it's more like there is no tunnel since Clinton and Obamageddon basically outlawed coal.
---
You know...when liberals publish lists of other countries healthcare systems they superior to ours, you never see them list West African countries. On the other hand, you also never hear them asking countries other than ours to go combat pandemic problems .
---
Know Nothing Nunn sure wraps her signs in the red, white&blue, but those are not the colors that define Democrats in Washington, DC.
---
From the :poetic justice" department - Online story: "Democratic Michigan gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer registered his gubernatorial campaign staff for non-Obamacare health care plans, * Schauer registered his staff’s plans through the Small Business Association of Michigan, not through Obamacare plans. * Schauer voted for Obamacare as a U.S. congressman. The Democrat currently trails Republican incumbent Gov. Rick Snyder by about five and a half points." -- What can I add....
---
L-E story: "Within hours of his release from the Jackson Correctional Institute, convicted child molester Darzell Thomas Blackmon once again faced charges — this time for molesting a 10-year-old in 2008, according to court testimony. * Officials executed outstanding warrants for aggravated child molestation and child molestation once 30-year-old Blackmon was released from the Jefferson prison on his second child molestation conviction. He served nearly five years of his 20-year sentence before being released Saturday" -- GOOD GRIEF! A court system that would let a second time convicted molester out is sick... a courts system that would let a two time convicted molester out 15 years early is a perverted as the molester.

Referendum update:
In a message dated 10/28/2014 4:43:57 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, TTomlinson@columbusga.org writes:

The new taxes from the new development pay off the bonds, but the taxpayers are never on the hook for the bonds - only the bondholders are.
My response:
You've got to be kidding... or worse.. I don't have... wouldn't have.. a muni-type bond that didn't have a known collectable resource if it was dependent on the success of a tax-based "project" to pay interest.
---
In a nutshell.. do not pass a finance law that is not written in stone. This referendum, if approved, can be amended at the whim of Council by getting the local legislative delegation to submit the changes on a local courtesy basis... in other words.. a rubber stamp.
---
Have you noticed that the logo of the referendum proponents website 'Revitalize Columbus" looks like it was plagiarized from Days Inn... quite appropriate in a way... it let's you know what you're in for...
---
Online headline: "Wealthy Kurd building replica of the White House in northern Iraq" -- What will it be called.. Certainly not "Camp David - East".. perhaps it will be called the "Mid-Eastern retirement White House"
---
Dragging "equal pay" and "minimum wage" into the political arena is purely deceitful politics.. Pay is determined by what one brings to the table.. Companies always have some sort of entry level, but companies are competitive to keep valuable employees content and happy. If you are not happy in your job.. you may want to look at yourself.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Obama dug us out of Bush’s great recession. Provided underemployed, unemployed and those with preexisting conditions with affordable health care and killed bin Laden. Republicans filibustered everything and shut down government." -- Hmmm, how does one see this from under the bus one has been thrown under?
---
L-E story: "(Incumbent Democrat Representative Sanford) Bishop, 67, points to his 22 years in Congress, experience as a lawyer, service in the Georgia House and Senate as a record of producing for residents of the 2nd Congressional District.: -- Record of producing? Producing what.. unemployment? South Columbus South Macon, and Albany.. are three of the worst unemployment areas in the state.. and Bishop is their representative.
---
From L-E's "Today in history" feature: "In 1987, following the confirmation defeat of Robert H. Bork to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, President Ronald Reagan announced his choice of Douglas H. Ginsburg, a nomination that fell apart over revelations of Ginsburg’s previous marijuana use." -- "fell apart....Ginsburg's previous marijuana use"? Don't you know the Democrats of today would like to kick the butts of the 1987 Majority Democratic Senators who ran Ginsburg out of consideration? Familiar Democrat names abound.. Byrd, Kennedy , Biden, Nunn, Kerry, and Gore for a few.
---
Just curiosity.. but how can a committee even fantasize about the final four teams for the NCAA Championship series at this time? The meat of the SEC seasonal meetings between arch rivals hasn't even gotten here. As far as I'm concerned, if Mississippi State beats Alabama and Ole Miss, to go along with earlier wins over three other top 10 (at the time) SEC teams (Auburn, Texas A&M, and LSU", MSU will have beaten 5 top 10 teams just to win the SEC West. The rest of the season will be anticlimactic.
---
L-E "headlie": " HOUSE REPUBLICANS MAKE LIBERAL USE OF OBAMA IN ADS" -- WRONG! It should read, " HOUSE REPUBLICANS MAKE CONSERVATIVE USE OF OBAMA IN ADS". Well, if the Democrats don't want to acknowledge Obamageddon.. it's Obamageddon's fault, but he is still The Story.
---
The hypocrisy of the L-E amazes me.. in the "Life & Taste" section.. all Halloween long the L-E will feature homemade goodies Moms can whip up in their kitchens, yet on Halloween, the L-E will run editorials warning parents to check out their children's goodie bags, and throw out anything that's not commercially packaged.
---
Why is mainstream media so shocked that Fox's "Utopia" is an absolute flop? Because mainstream media has always supported the "utopian" agenda of the Democrats, and can't believe is doesn't work in reality.
---
Rumor has it NBC/MSNBC will revitalize "Utopia" as a mid-season show.. They believe "Utopia"will work but the right people just haven't tried it.

Republicans need to stop pounding how Obamageddon is mishandling the Ebola situation.. just compare it to how he has handled OObamaCRAP, and ask voters if they want someone representing them who approves of that or not, then move on to real issues.
---
Looks like Know Nothing Nunn is spinning the Republican story in hopes of offsetting her Democratic Party connections with Obamageddon and Reid. It just proves Democrats will promise anything for a vote knowing mainstream media is OK with it as long as she doesn't actually vote that way.

---
The Marysville High School in Washington State should be the reason schools make students check their cellphones in at the office each morning and retrieve them on their way out.

---
Online headline: "Accused White House fence jumper declared incompetent" -- Oooops, my bad.. thought Dennis Rodman had rated Obamageddon's fade-away shot.
---
Online story: " A man charged with jumping the White House fence last week was dragged screaming from a courtroom on Monday after a federal judge declared him incompetent to stand trial. * "You can't do this to me! Somebody please help me!" screamed Adesanya, struggling to escape from the grip of court marshals after the judge spoke. * "This is a trap! This is a scheme!" he shouted * Adesanya cannot be arraigned without being found competent to stand trial" -- Hmmm... you know, what he screamed out sounds like he was lucid and competent to me.. but what do I know. Tell you what though, I do know that it sounds like the White House ordered this man's Constitutional right to "due process" stripped from him in order for him not to have an attorney of his own choosing or be able to have his say in a public trial. Ironically, it's not just the 5th Amendment being denied him, but also the 14th Amendment, which guarantees the Citizenship Clause, Privileges or Immunities Clause, Due Process Clause, and Equal Protection Clause. Let it not be missed or forgotten that the 14th Amendment is not being violated by someone wearing a "white hood" .
---
Seems like the latest list of the top selling cars/trucks have one thing in common... all are powered by internal combustion engines. What does that say about all the wasted.. defaulted "loans" Obamageddon dispensed to "green Ideas"?
---
Online headline: "Walmart Renames Its 'Fat Girl' Halloween Costume Section * Walmart quickly changed the name to 'Women's Plus Size Halloween Costumes' but still left an insult" -- Oh, no! Walmart has succumbed to the politically correct police.. Does this mean the Walmart Shoppers Gallery will be pulled from e-mail circulation?
---
Online headline: "Gas prices tumble to lowest in four years * Nationally, drivers haven't seen prices at the pump fall this low since December 17, 2010" -- On the other hand.. this just shows how high gas had become under Obamageddon...
---
That illegal alien who killed the deputies in California had been deported twice, and had changed his name since then. If that's not the number reason for photo IDs for voting, entitlement programs, and citizenship, then we are doomed.
---
From the "poetic justice" department: "Chicago Bears defensive end Lamarr Houston is out for the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while celebrating a sack against the New England Patriots on Sunday," -- Isn't just thumping one's chest enough recognition? It was once in time..
---
This oughta chap the liberals as well.. Steve Ballmer, former Microsoft partner, and $2 BILLION dollar purchaser of the LA Crippers basketball team from boogeyman Don Sterling, is set to get $1 BILLION back in tax credits over the next 15 years as long as he spends 500 hours annually in active management.. not a bad gig for a retired person. Let's see 15 years times 500 hours equals 7,500 hours which makes his time worth $133,333.00 per hour.in tax credits.
---
Online story: "Voter I.D. is one of the most contentious issues in the mid-term elections -- and it's not even on the ballot. * Recent conflicting court decisions have both supported and struck down laws in several states. * "I think that voter I.D. works," declared the Secretary of State of Rhode Island, A. Ralph Mollis. Voter I.D. has been the law in the Ocean State since 2012. * "It protects the voter," he said. * "it has worked tremendously well. Our clerks have told us it helps the lines move easy. You don't have to say your name and repeat the spelling of it. It is right there on the I.D. It has given people some confidence in their election. When they go there, they know that my vote is protected." -- Mollis is a DEMOCRAT! No, this is not an April Fools Day story... but I imagine Mollis will be under attack by Obamageddon until he's replaced.
---
L-E headline: "Chuck Williams: We. Have. A. Homeless. Problem." -- What homeless..Mayor Obamalinson has had a committee to end that in Columbus for the last 4-5 years. It's supposed to be halfway solved. How come the L-E is suddenly concerned now after it endorsed Obamalinson for re-election this past May?
---
L-E story: "Sixty two people, more than half of whom are suspected of gang-related activity in Muscogee, Harris, and Russell counties, were arrested on outstanding warrants as part of an initiative spearheaded by the U.S. Marshals Service, officials announced Monday." -- Wow! Didn't Mayor Obamalinson say we didn't have a gang problem prior to the last election. Now she wants us to believe TADs are going to be good for us. Say, didn't the L-E endorse Obamalinson for re-election because she swore we didn't have a crime/gang problem?
---
L-E headline/story: "Coroner: Man fatally shot at Booker T. Washington Apartments * The deadly shooting is suspected to be the 19th homicide for Columbus this year." -- Hmmm unless you count the guy killed on CSU property...Looks like a potentially record year...something we don't need.
---
Obamageddon wants us to call these suicidal jihadists attacking law enforcement personnel "lone wolves".. Wish he would be " Earnest" with us rather than "JOSHing" us.
---
You know, if DHS and the DOJ believe "lone wolf" terrorists are our #1 problem, then every law enforcement office needs to be able to go back to "profiling" without fear of judicial activism throwing arrests out.
---
Online quote source: "“Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others have labored hard for.” - Socrates" --- Hmmm... how Democrats translate this: "Don't read before you vote on things that will give what others have labored hard for to those who will vote for you."
---
Online story: "Massachusetts Father Mad Just Because Public School Teaches ‘There Is No God But Allah’ -- Hmmm guess the School Board didn't read the entire "scripture".. they must have stopped at, "There is no God"...so that doesn't violate its church/state separation issue.
---
Online story: "A comprehensive review from 2013 shows that the United States is home to 62 high schools that have the Redskins as their athletic mascot. The majority of the students at three of those schools are Native American. * The Washington Post sent an intrepid reporter briefly beyond the Beltway to find out what could possibly motivate students, parents, coaches and school officials at one of the schools: Red Mesa High School in the rural, isolated corner of northeastern Arizona. * Turns out it’s simple: They like their mascot just fine. * “I don’t find it derogatory,” school district superintendent Tommie Yazzie told the Post. “It’s a source of pride.” * Red Mesa student council president Mckenzie Lameman agreed. * “It’s not a racist slur if it originates from a Native American tribe,” the junior told the paper. * At a recent Red Mesa Redskins football, game, the Post reporter found dedicated parents stamping the bleachers and signs in the raucous, festive crowd reading “Redskin Nation” and “Fear the Spear.” -- Heh heh heh.. liberals need to learn not to assume everyone "feels" they need liberals "to save them". The Washington Post needs to learn not to ask such questions when it doesn't already know the answer.
Jimmy Carter was in town campaigning for his grandson.. the grandson was in shirt sleeves... all he neede was a cardigan sweater to complete the picture we still have of Jimmy.. Also, "First Lady Rosalunn (SIC) Carter was on stage with them... are we sure she's not Know Nothing Nunn's mother?
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Perdue says unemployment is caused by policies out of Washington. Under Republican policies, 3.8 million private sector jobs were lost by 2008. Unemployment has decreased 25 percent during Obama’s second term." -- Good grief.. if there's a 25% improvement (the sounoff writers magic figure) in unimployment.. it's compared to Obamageddon's first term before every insurance company, doctor, and hospital had to hire more staff to work on the OObamaCRAP problems.
---
You know.. it's almost comical to watch Mayor Obamalinson calmly tread water on the Redevelopment/TAD Referendum using the tax freeze as her logic for taxes staying low, while her feet are churning 90-to-nothin under the water to end the tax freeze. What does that tell you about her transparancy?

Monday, October 27, 2014

HuffPost headline: "Nobel Peace Prize Winners Urge Obama To Release CIA Torture Report" -- Yeah.. and while Obamageddon is at it, how about releasing the truthful reports of the OObamaCRAP disaster, the IRS e-mails, ...oh.. and his college/scholarship applications... grades, too.
---
Online story: "New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) announced new quarantine guidelines on Sunday evening for patients who may have been exposed to Ebola. * The new guidelines will allow health care workers who have had contact with patients infected with Ebola to stay at home for 21 days, rather than at a medical facility." -- Good grief.. unmonitored at home quarantine..why.. so the exposed can further expose their families.. so they can flush body waste into the sewer systems, so they can put their contaminated trash out on the streets for the enjoyment of garbage collectors and people walking by there?
---
Online headline: "NY, NJ soften Ebola protocol after White House criticism" -- Hmmm.. now we know why Chris Christie is so rotund... there's a Democrat inside of him, and like all Democrats, they are Obamageddon puppets.

There's a Mexican restaurant in Colorado that's being doing business under the name of "Illegal Pete's" for almost 20 years. It been successful, created jobs, and has grown into multiple locations throughout Colorado. Pete is set to open a new site in Ft Collins, CO in about 3 weeks but a group of about 30 people are protesting for Pete to change the store name. Hmmmm, how about "Undocumented Pedros"? Stay the course Pete! Liberal movements have already destroyed the word "gay".
---
Politically correct Halloween Carnivals are the pits. There was a Halloween costume contest without a winner. Yeah...the kids were just asked to line up and walk around, and a name was later pulled out of a hat. I think the winner was "Size 7 3/8s".
---
This years scariest costume idea .. dressing your kid like a Louis Farrankhan Islamic body guard for your kid's school Fall Festival.
---
Random thought: You know, how can the DOJ monitor..keep tabs on aliens who come into our country yet not "profile" them?
---
You know, South Carolina got cheated on the last play of the game. Auburn had 2 players in the last line-up wearing #1. Since the game cannot end on a defensive penalty ( unless the other team is winning or refuses the penalty) , the interception should have been overruled, Auburn penalized 5 yards, and South Carolina getting one more snap. Either that, or the refs should have stopped the play before it started, moved the ball up the 5 yards, and made Auburn play without one of the "1s"...

Online story: "The most powerful business group in the country is spending tens of millions of dollars to help Republicans win control of the Senate with one glaring omission — the tight Georgia Senate race. * Rob Engstrom, political director for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said Friday that the organization will stay on the sidelines in the contest between businessman David Perdue and Democrat Michelle Nunn in Georgia as well as the competitive Louisiana race pitting three-term Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu against Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy. * the Chamber has spent heavily in the midterm elections, determined to elect candidates receptive to their pro-business agenda" -- "elect candidates receptive to their pro-business agenda"? Wait a minute.. how can the US Chamber not openly support the Republican Party in the GA and LA races? Surely the Chamber cannot think having either incumbent Senator Landrieu of LA, or newcomer Nunn of GA would benefit the economic growth interests of America...
---
Online story: "A foundation chaired by Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Secretary of State John Kerry is funding a radical anti-Israel, anti-American snack bar near the Carnegie Mellon and Pittsburgh University campuses.
* The restaurant, Conflict Kitchen, which proudly boasts that it serves food only from countries with which the U.S. is in conflict, received a $50,000 grant from the Heinz Endowment in April to assist it in moving locations. * However, the restaurant lately has been serving its hummus and baba ghanoush sandwiches in propaganda wrappers that carry quotes from Palestinians opposing the existence of the state of Israel and has hosted panel discussions featuring pro-Palestinian speakers, in which supporters of the Jewish community and Israel have not been allowed to participate by the restaurant's owners" -- What does this say to the world about Obamageddon's choices for Secretaries of State.. the current one has an anti-Semitic wife, and the first one tolerates an openly philandering husband. ....Wait a minute.. it's becoming clear.. both Secretaries are desirable in Islamic circles, and keep Obamageddon on the party invitation A-List there.

Online story: "On an interview Thursday, ex-NBA all star Charles Barkley responded to the rumors over Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson’s receiving criticism over not being “black enough” from some of his teammates. He then addressed a larger issue within the black community, one Barkley described as a “dirty, dark secret.” * ‘We Are Brainwashed To Think, If You’re Not A Thug Or An Idiot, You’re Not Black Enough’" -- Whatta nutshell encapsulation of why the black community is in total cultural collapse! We saw it locally when the black bloc vote rejected NAACP President Nate Sanderson's run for the school board because he had Republican support. We see it when groups rally for Trayvon, protest for Michael Brown, yet say nothing about the proliferation of black-on-black crime on the streets. Dr King would be more disappointed today at black leaders who promote racial segregation than he was when Democrats promoted racial segregation in the 50s and 60s. He'd be especially disappointed in the bloc vote blacks have for the Democrats.
---
Now Michael Brown "I-witnesses" are crying foul as the truth appears and paints Brown in a bad way. Excuse me, I think Brown painted himself into a bad position.
---
Online story: "With their latest project, Oscar-winning actors Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, will boldly go where they have gone before ... creating films that makes businesses the bad guys." -- Ha-ha-ha!!! They gotta be kidding! Whatta a no-brainer for them as they won't have to stretch their talents. On top of that, their first script is themselves.. no business has been as bad for America than the Hollywood movie industry.. it has undermined the moral of our children, it has glorified drugs and gang life and scumbags, and it has altered history by change the perspectives and ending of classic period pieces.
---
L-E "soundoff": "The only candidate worthy of my vote is the one who solemnly vows to leave me alone and means it." -- Well, we know this guy is not going to vote for any Democrats because they cannot exist without at least one hand trying to pick his wallet out of his pocket.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Before you start blaming Obama for the handling of the Ebola crisis, just remember who voted to cut funding for the CDC and the NIH." -- Good grief.. somebody must have given this giy Kool-Aid to down his Ebola placebo with.
---
Tell you what.. the L-E could do us all a favor by running LIV "soundoff" entries through "Fact Checker" before printing them.

L-E headline/story: "Try these healthier alternatives to Halloween candy this year
Don’t be scared of the scale this Halloween. If you have a monster craving, opt for treats with fewer calories and more nutritional punch. TOPS suggests these alternatives:
• Instead of a milk chocolate bar, choose dark chocolate cocoa-roasted almonds
• Instead of candy corn, choose golden raisins
• Instead of peanut butter and chocolate candy, choose an apple and natural peanut butter
• Instead of a popcorn ball, choose air-popped popcorn
• Instead of fruit-flavored candy, choose grapes
Just remember: If you eat more calories, move more to burn them.---
Good grief.. what's the L-E advocating, closing Party City, Brach's and Hershey?
---
L-E feature: "Online comment of the day
“ ... Such redevelopment would be suitable for many areas of South Columbus, MidTown, downtown, etc. The Liberty District would be a prime spot for a TAD and hopefully the stakeholders there are learning all they can about how this could benefit the district. ...” -- Hmmm.. sorta looks like North Columbus thrives on private development so the powers that be are occluding North Columbus. Now, the fact is that developments in North Columbus are successful is because developers believe in what they are doing, and are willing to risk their own money; the TAD projects will never have the success commitment.
---
From the Columbus City Manager's Agenda in the L-E : "TREE REMOVAL SERVICES (ANNUAL CONTRACT) — It is requested that council approve the execution of a tree removal service contract with Elite Tree Service Inc. (Columbus). The bid price is based on various tree sizes, and the services will be utilized on an “as needed” basis. The Public Works Department budgets approximately $70,000.00 per year for these services." -- Wait a minute.. We taxpayers have been forced to pay for an in house stump grinder and a 100' reach "cherry picker basket tree cutter/trimmer. Why are we outsourcing tree removal services. Has anybody looked into whether there's a personal connection of the recommended contractor and anyone in the City administration?
---
From above story: "30 FOOT LOW FLOOR TROLLEY BUS (ANNUAL CONTRACT) — It is requested that council authorize the annual contract to purchase 30 foot low floor trolley buses from Gillig LLC. (Haywood, Calif.). The unit price, per fiscal year of the contract is $435,847.00." -- $436K buses? It would one thing if METRA paid for itself through paying riders, but that's not the case, nor will be the case. Surely there are less costly bus options that will be more than satisfactoy.
---
Another folly from the Council Agenda: "Nov. 26: Redevelopment Plan for Claflin School — The city of Columbus is requesting proposals from experienced, creative architects, building and real estate development firms or a philanthropic individual or nonprofit group to present a redevelopment , plan for adaptive reuse of the Claflin School building that will be consistent with applicable deed restrictions and preserve the historic site." -- Good grief.. what on earth will comply with property restrictions and be successful next to a cemetery? Is there anyone in the City that actually looks at all the aspects before throwing money away on something? Hey.. how about making it a free standing $244K bathroom with trolley bus service from the 14th Street Bridge and RiverWalk?

Online story: "- A man suspected of killing two deputies during a shooting rampage in Northern California was deported twice to Mexico and had a drug conviction, federal authorities said." -- "twice deported"? You know, deportation should not be an option more than once, and NONE if the deportation option occurred AFTER a felony conviction! What America needs now is for the families of the two KILLED deputies to press for the state of California to file charges against Attorney General Pric Holder for accessory to murder!
---
Online headline: "Marine killed in Iraq in the fight against ISIS * Lance Cpl. Sean P. Neal died during a non-combat incident this week, becoming the second American casualty of the ISIS campaign." -- It's bad enough to be "Boots on the ground" in the mid-east, but to be said to have died in a "non-combat incident" is disgusting on our military's part. Every American soldier is in harms way when assigned to another country under strife.

On amore pleasurable subject: #1 Mississippi State took care of business yesterday! Hail State!

Of all the big plays Dak Prescott made for Mississippi State, two of his best were blocks that decked players trying to tackle his teammates.

What's with those metallic silver mirror-like helmets Kentucky was wearing? Just the possibility of a sun-flash should make them illegal.

Online story: "A 26-year-old Iranian woman convicted of murdering a man she accused of trying to rape her as a teenager was hanged on Saturday, the official news agency IRNA said, despite international pleas for her life to be spared. * Reyhaneh Jabbari walked to the gallows at dawn on Saturday in Tehran's Evin prison after failing to secure a reprieve from the murder victim's relatives within the 10-day deadline set by sharia law in force since the 1979 Islamic Revolution." -- "Sharia law in force since the 1979 Islamic Revolution"? "1979"? Jimmy Carter just cannot shake his incompetency as a president.. what makes anyone in GA think his grandson can handle the governorship?

From the "do we need any more proof someone is stupid" department - HuffPost headline: "Obama Meets With Ebola Survivor Nina Pham At White House" -- No further comment necessary.

One of our fellow BCers was a victim of the GA DOT commandeering his entire business property versus the right-of-way that would allow road improvement. His knowledge and accumulation of examples should make even the biggest Kool-Aid drinkers (especially our Councilors) of the TAD referendum issue on the November ballot shake. This is another story about the power of Eminent Domain that our L-E must have conveniently "forget to remember before endorsing it:
"Ledger Enquirers September 4, 2011

Mayor Teresa Tomlinson threatens legal action against Decatur Court property owners if crime-ridden complex isn't cleaned up. (Headline)

From the article:

The state laws that Tomlinson’s letter cites are Georgia Code 41-3-2, which allows the city to seek an injunction against the property owner and occupants, in effect shutting the place down, and 16-13-49, which allows the city to seize property that is persistently used in drug-related activity.
Anyway you look at it putting more money into politicians hands is a bad idea."
Hmmm.. you know.. once a politician has used.. even threatened to use such destructive power, it becomes a preferred method of operation.
---
From the same "victim": Hal, just a thought. Perhaps the way to explain the TAD is as a funding mechanism. With passage the city will be able to borrow large amounts of money on spurious promises of future successful redevelopment. In the meanwhile they will have the finances to aggressively wield existing eminent domain laws on the poorest and most defenseless property owners amongst us." -- This is a nut-in-a-shell explanation for the need to stop this initiative of the politically connected.
---
You know... I wish I could say without a doubt that the TAD Referendum is the most clandestine campaign Mayor Obamalinson has ever run, but she runs all her "wants" this way. She probably advises Valerie Jarrett at the White House.
---
Straight from the L-E: " On Nov. 4, Columbus voters will decide whether to allow the city government to exercise redevelopment powers to create Tax Allocation Districts in an effort to reduce blight and underutilized property." -- Is this not confirmation that easier Eminent Domain is the goal of the Mayor and Council. Councilor Thomas should be embarrassed by her staunch support of this initiative, Her responses have been totally denying of this.
---
Good grief... the L-E must have noticed that I'm a Mississippi Stater. In the L-E today, Mississippi State, the SEC team that's ranked # 1 (Love it!) in the country had it's win over Kentucky relegated to the "also played" section while the L-E headlined Auburn and LSU wins.. Oh... BTW Mississippi State had already beaten both of those teams earlier in the season.
Very random thought: My cats are aging so I started buying some "mature" cat food. That stuff must be made entirely of diuretics and laxatives. All the seemed to do was eat & drink, pee and poop. They were going through a jug of clumping litter every day. I threw out what I had left today and went back to their old stuff.
---
Online story: "DENVER — Concerns are running high over door-to-door campaign workers asking voters for their mail-in ballots in what is known as “ballot harvesting.” * All-mail voting is the law of the land in Colorado, so the challenge for campaigns is to persuade voters to drop off or mail in their ballots — or hand them to the foot soldiers who turn up on their doorsteps offering to do it for them. * These are totally unauthorized people coming to the door and gathering ballots and doing whatever they want to them,” said Marilyn Marks, president of the Aspen-based Citizen Center, which focuses on election integrity." -- The reason we can't find Jimmy Hoffa is that he isn't dead.. he must have moved to Colorado and become the Democrat Campaign manager! Is Colorado's voting scheme not the most conducive to voter fraud than anywhere else (including Chicago)? What stops a "harvester" from checking party registration lists and just trashing the ballot from an address on the "wrong" list? DOJ.. where are you!
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " “Bad” people voting? You must mean the Republicans who outsourced my real job and left me with three mini-jobs, no health care, no SNAP, no arts, music or literature." -- Mayor Obamalinson must be working as hard on conjuring up "soundoffs" as she is in covering up the real purpose of the TAD referendum. Who but she would join "arts-SNAP-music-literature" with a complaint about outsourcing and healthcare? Oh.. and her "three mini-jobs"... Mayor- Lawyer-Propagandist.
---
It's ironic that the L-E is running a series on marijuana.. Must have been from an in-house story, and now the L-E cannot keep up its "home" and is having to downsize.

You know.. as hard as women and blacks, and naturalized citizens had to fight to get voting rights afforded white men by birth in past centuries, you would think they would cherish having a photo-ID to prove it, and demand everyone else to have one, too.

From the "Top 10 Stupidly Politically Correct HuffPost "headlie" department: "Suspect was Homecoming prince * Details emerged of the chaotic scene in the Wash. high school cafeteria when alleged gunman ****** ******* opened fire on his classmates." -- Good grief! The (_*_) walked into the lunchroom, killed
one and shot several other students, then killed himself, and the HuffPost calls him a "suspect" and "alleged gunman"? The only thing "suspect" or "alleged" is the HuffPost being called a "news service".
---
Fox News online headline: "Gunman arrested after allegedly killing two California deputies, injuring another and bystander" -- What's "alleged" when the police report the capture of the (_*_) who killed two deputies, and wounded another and a California civilian? On the other hand, why was the (_*_) "arrested" while breathing?

Two elementary schools in Newington, CT have canceled Halloween carnivals/parades because they might offend some families that don't celebrate Halloween. Online story: "As the grand jury investigation into the shooting death of Michael Brown by Ferguson, Mo., Police Officer Darren Wilson continues, more information about evidence and witness testimony continues to leak. * Eyewitness (as opposed to "I-witnesses" ) testimony has already confirmed that Brown did not have his hands up when he was shot, and the recently released county autopsy report indicates the same. In addition, forensic tests proved that Michael Brown’s blood was present on Wilson’s gun, uniform, and interior car door panel, corroborating his statement that the two struggled for control of Wilson’s gun in the car. * Now the toxicology report has been released showing tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient in marijuana, and the Post’s sources said the levels in Brown’s body may have been high enough to trigger hallucinations,” -- You know, Brown was a 6'4", 292 pound 18 year old.. and the amount of consumption of marijuana to show such levels would have been way more than simple "recreational use amounts.
---
Online story: "Georgia Democrats are using the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, to rally black voters ahead of the Nov. 4 election, with Republicans calling the move "race-baiting." -- Well, it is "race-baiting", especially after revelations of the testimony in the grand jury investigations..
---
You know there is definitely a difference in what forms leadership in the Republican and Democratic Parties. When a Republican leader takes a stand on an issue , all Republicans stand with him. When a Democratic politician makes a stand on anything but "free something",1 stands in agreement and 99 " boo" until he/she promises them something else in return for their votes.
---
Thought I'd seen the maximum nannyism you could inject into a high school football, but I saw a player kicked out if a game for "taunting" the other teams sideline & fans. In a huge rivalry game, a lineman (who was personally attacked by said school rivals before the same game last year) raised and pumped his arms up following a teammates 30+ yard burst up the middle for a touchdown, and got ejected for unsportsmanlike celebration. Pathetic GHSA!
---
By the way.. game results were Pacelli 41 and B****stone 20.. but the game wasn't that close.
---
I am looking for information explaining possibly one of the worst overturn in the history of football. Homecooking comes to mind, but it's still short of explaining this: Pacelli pooch kicked the opening kickoff. A Brookstone player muffed the catch, and a Pacelli player came up with it. Both teams sent in their respective line-ups for the ensuing play. Before the play was started, another whistle blew, and a referee said it was Brookstone's ball. The teams re-switched their line-ups. What happened!

Correction: In yesterday tribute to Mike Gaymon, I erringly stated Mike was moving from Columbus.. It was an honest mistake on my part.. Several weeks ago when this was announced, I inferred to him that now he would be free to take the reins of the Crime Prevention Committee. I guess he thought I would think he was joking when he told me "NO"! abd that he was moving to Florida. Everything else said/inferred is true.. we'll miss him at the Chamber, but we'll benefit from him staying in our community.

Soapbox moment: After bantering back with the "official: FaceBook page of the proponents of the TAD referendum, one thing is perfectly clear:
Whether this website is going to issue or challenge information, someone of knowledge should be the official responder, and that person should be personally identified.

So far, responses to question/challenges have been typically veiled liberal "nanny-nanny-poo-poo".. devoid of transparency AND truth.

Online story: "From the “you can’t make this stuff up” section of Americana, it seems that all is not peaceful or agreed upon among Michael Brown’s family. * His mother, Leslie McSpadden, has requested that Brown’s image and memory not be used for self-serving business and profit purposes. Brown’s grandmother and at least one cousin disagree. * A police report describes a car pulling up and several people getting out. One of those people, was reported to be Michael Brown`s Mom, Lesley McSpadden. A witness described McSpadden yelling ‘You can`t sell this s%$&” One of the relatives, who was selling, reportedly demanded McSpadden show a document proving she had a patent. * A patent…okay, well, whatever documentation Grandmama and the relatives needed, is beside the point. There was a street brawl that evening that resulted in the cousin, Tony Petty, being hit so hard in the face by McSpadden (Brown’s mother) that he was taken to a local hospital. Then, supposedly McSpadden took off with not just some merchandise and other assorted SWAG, but the cash box" -- Hmmm.. any chance Brown's family is related to Dr King, Jr's family?

Election info for Columbus/Muscogee Cty, GA: There are 4 referendum items on our ballots..
The 1st one is a proposed Constitutional Amendment to prohibit our legislature from increasing the maximum state income tax rate. While it shouldn't be necessary, it might be a smart safeguard should Democrats ever regain power. Vote "YES"!
The 2nd item is another proposed Constitutional Amendment to add penalties to reckless driving tickets. Innocuously, the focus is on putting the extra penalties in a "Brain and Spinal Injury Trust fund lockbox" for rehab and care of such injuries. We know from experience, that special "lockboxes" are as safe as candy placed on an anthill. Look at the "lockboxes" Algore put our Social Security investments in, and the "Hope Scholarship lockbox" Zell Miller put lottery revenues in. Vote "NO"!
The 3rd is a proposed state-wide referendum which allows our universities to forego any property taxes on their dormitory/student housing buildings.. forever. It would one thing if universities kept housing facilities at low rate, but they don't. One of my daughters dorm rate for a typical dorm cubical charged more for 8 months of use as my other daughter's 12 month use of a bigger off-campus apartment owned in the private sector. Our universities are not our friends.. they are doing us no special favors in feeding or housing our children. The cost of school food and housing programs exceed off campus services, and the off campus providers are not exempt from the expense of property taxes. Exempting universities further will add more tax costs to the private sectors expenses. Vote "NO"!
The 4th item is our local "Special Election" giving local politicians increased power of Eminent Domain, and a bypass to increase taxes and cost on lower income housing. It's just a bad deal all around. The "committee" is compose of people who have figured out how such a power will benefit themselves, and more than likely leave taxpayers holding failed projects and tax debt for paying off the bonds. Vote "NO".. and if you plan on voting more than once, Vote "NO" as often as you can.
---
Here's what a vapid local government can do with expanded Eminent Domain powers:
VOTE "NO"!

Online story/link: "In 2007 the school board and the City made the tax allocation district (TAD) agreement in which the school system would give the city its share of increased property tax revenue generated in the downtown section of East Savannah. In return, city officials said they would pay back $10 million to the school board by December 2014 and waive fees for building permits, inspections and water connections. School officials made plans to use the TAD agreement money to help pay to replace the problematic, 50-year-old Spencer Elementary School campus downtown" --
VOTE "NO!
PS - Special thanks to BCers for passing these links to me for distribution.

Online headline: "Ahead of the busiest shopping season of the year, 77 Sears and K-Mart stores are closing, cutting 5,300 jobs. * Most locations will close before the holiday season. So many are holding going out of business sales rather than gearing up for seasonal promotions." -- Hmmm.. let me tell you.. a lot more than 5,300 jobs are being eliminated.. That's just an average of 68 or so per store, and believe, personal knowledge of staffing a department knows this number is fictitious.. at best. Additionally, it does not include the number of traditional part time jobs created during the Christmas selling season. Wanna bet that OObamaCRAP is deeply seeded in the decision to close marginal stores.
---
Online story: "Auburn School District in Washington State is facing intense criticism for a decision that some see as both dangerous and hypocritical. District officials have agreed to allow an elementary school boy of the Sikh faith to carry a dagger to school." -- You know,, Christian kids have been expelled for using "finger guns", nibbling Pop-Tarts into a shape of a gun (as only liberals could determine), and for wearing crosses around their necks. By this school systems' decision makers' "logic", if a child worshipped Satanism and wanted to bring his AK-47 to school, it would be "OK".

Online story: "According to a Winston-Salem Journal report, the State Board of Elections discovered the potential illegal voters Tuesday night when the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles ran a search for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) licenses. The 145 DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients whose names appear on the SBOE’s voting rolls will be sent letters requesting documentation that they are citizens, the report noted. * DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) beneficiaries in North Carolina are able to obtain drivers licenses, but they are not able to vote. * Nearly 10,000 names on the rolls are tagged by the DMV as "legally present," according to elections and transportation officials. " "not able to vote"? Yeah, right.. can't you see what the mainstream media stories and Democratic Party ads are going to be in the time left between today and November 4th?

Online headline/story: "DHS faulted for expired, questionable pandemic response supplies at Ebola hearing * Inspector General John Roth said the department spent $9.5 million starting in 2006 on pandemic protective equipment, as well as nearly $7 million on antiviral drugs for emergency workers. " -- Whoa! Let's back up a moment.. 2006? Hey, Bush43 president then.. How can mainstream media ignore that Bush43 saw the need then, and Obamageddon just let the ball drop.. now.. accidentally or intentionally is what mainstream media has to play with..Pssst... don't expect a mainstream media apologoy.
---
Glad to see a committee to find a replacement for Mescon at CSU has been established.. a rule that should have been part of the elimination process for selecting the new CSU president wasn't. In the future, anyone on a previous search committee that selected Mescon in the first place should not be invited back.

LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Perdue and his NRA buddies are the ones running the most, worst, and most untrue attack ads. I know, because I was planning to vote for him until his attacks changed my mind." -- Nice try, Mayor Obamalinson.. but this is the one area you are transparent as hell on.

Hmmm.. have you noticed the L-E has sorta stopped reporting the number of murders in Columbus? Try to imagine what the number would be if we didn't have indigent ER services for gunshot wounds...

CBS online headline: "Holder "exasperated" about Ferguson investigation leaks" -- "exasperated"? Wait, that's what we taxpaying citizens "feel"... Pric Holder should be feeling "embarrassed" for his actions at Ferguson... and for his inactions everywhere else.

Redevelopment Referendum thought of the day: How are lower income home owners and/or renters going to benefit from this referendum? All I can see is that their payments, whether mortgage or rent will go higher.
---
Special Response from Revitalizing Columbus Communities wrote:
"Lower income homeowners and renters are benefited hugely as Redevelopment Districts increase the stock of high quality llow income housing in the area (usually requiring 20% of any new residential to be low income or subsidized). If any landlord tries to raise the rent, the tenants have many great options of where to go. Homeowners aren't affected at all because of the property tax freeze."
Good grief.. if a landlord improves his property but can't raise rent, then why is a landlord going to do so? And what crap about homeowners not having their taxes raised... improvement are going to be added on to the assessed value and taxes accordingly raised. The "responder" for "Revitalizing Columbus Communiti" does not identify him/herself, but apparently it's a site plan to lie about reality.

HuffPost story: "Marilinda Garcia, a Republican U.S. House candidate from New Hampshire, plagiarized portions of a 2012 speech she gave against same-sex marriage, according to an analysis by the left-leaning group Granite State Progress." -- Whoa! How can you plagiarize something you said/wrote? I guess it's a liberal thing depending on how you define "plagiarize".

Online story: "An emergency room doctor who recently returned to the city after treating Ebola patients in West Africa has tested positive for the virus, becoming the first case in the city and the fourth in the nation.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday urged residents not to be alarmed by the doctor's Ebola diagnosis, even as they described him riding the subway, taking a cab and bowling. De Blasio said all city officials followed "clear and strong" protocols in their handling and treatment of him." -- Good grief.. are there even any Democrat voters left who actually feel relief about an Democratic politician saying "trust me, we've got your back?"

A man attacked 4 police officers on the streets of New York with an axe.. critically striking one in the head before others shot him dead. According to the man's FaceBook page, he's a graduate of the Teachers College of Columbia University, and has Farsi scriptures and Muslim symbols on his "home page", and numerous Muslim named "friends". The Huffington Post had nothing on it in its AOL News line-up today. Is it because it's jihadism in NYC or because hew went to Columbia like Obamageddon?

HuffPost headline: "Ferguson Protester: Things Will 'Never Be The Same' If Darren Wilson Isn't Indicted" -- Oh! so justice is not, or for that matter, never was the object of the protests.

Went to a happy but sad event yesterday..the ED of our Chamber of Commerce is retiring. He's been a great asset and cheerleader for Columbus' growth. While we will miss his dedication and leadership, we're going to miss his presence more as he moves South. In true Mike Gaymon form, he posted this on FaceBook: "I joked about them coming to "view the body"." This self-deprecating sense of humor is what made his so good at his job. Columbus will miss him.. I will miss him.

Online story: "In an interview for the November issue of GQ magazine, Matthew McConaughey–True Detective, Lincoln Lawyer,Dallas Buyers Club–said he understands that Americans have the right to own guns, but it’s time to “forget that right” because some people misuse guns." -- Hmmm.. well so long McConaughy.... was going to buy a new Lincoln but that deal's off the table, too. Seems people also misuse Lincolns, and some actors misuse their access to the media.

Another high school football season just came to a screaming halt after a sexual based hazing was revealed. That's the second school in recent weeks to shut down because of sexual hazing this season. I'm both surprised and glad that this has happened, but also confused because of mainstream media's support of a homosexual Missouri player who dressed and showered with his teammates.

Online story: "Officials are investigating paintings and drawings of eerie faces found on rocks across the West in some of the country's most recognizable national parks. * National Park Service spokesman Jeffrey Olson says the probe stemmed from a post on a California-based hiking blog about a woman who traveled across the West, apparently using acrylic paint to leave images on the rocks." -- Rumor has it that Las Vegas odds makers have placed two-to-one odds that the desecrations were funded by a federal arts grant.

Know Nothing Nunn has been hammering David Perdue about his defense of "outsourcing". Of course Perdue's knowledge of "outsourcing" eminently better qualifies him as a person who knows what needs to be done in changing laws/regulations that have forced American businesses to move work out of this country to be profitable. One thing though and Know Nothing Nunn's attack is her ignorance of the business world. She solicited the CEO of Southwire to chastise Perdue, but she didn't know that the federal government had identified Southwire as an "outsourcing" business as well?
---
If any revisions need to be made to funding our universities and colleges in GA, the best place to look is at the "mandatory fees" colleges tack onto tuition bills. Two are excessively repressing on parents and students with loans. The "University Fee" gives colleges the ability to add copious amounts to the tuition that have no designation as to use, and the "Athletic Fees" which make parents and students with loans pay for scholarships of athletes on top of what parents and students with loans are paying for their own education.
---
Current and outgoing GA State School Superintendent John Barge who challenged Deal as the Republican candidate for Governor is anticipated to endorse the Democrat candidate for School Superintendent. Guess Barge is changing his spots.. now he should change his name.. Barf looks like a perfect fit.
---
There's a question out there asking why the NCAA won't le college athletes have jobs. The answer is easy..unscrupulous coaches and boosters who, in the past, paid huge salaries to athletes for nonexistent or menial jobs. Many used such "jobs" as part of recruiting..even included loaner or demonstrator cars. The NCAA was/is not against athletes working..the NCAA is just against boosters and coaches breaking rules.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": "In a perfect world we would all sit around and focus on leaving a legacy of art, music, and literature. Unfortunately the bad guys get a vote." -- Hmmm.. liberals complain because people who work don't want to support people who don't work who are dreaming of ways for the working people to pay for their leisure time.
---
Extra stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": "How is it possible that Georgia has never elected a woman to the U.S. Senate? Women make up 51% of our population: We have a strong candidate. Vote!" -- Well if the liberal curriculum of our schools was interested in facts and historical first, this lib would have know that
Rebecca Latimer Felton of Georgia, was the first woman to serve in the United States Senate. She took the oath of office on November 21, 1922, over 90 years ago!

L-E story:
Here are the September 2014 unemployment rates for Georgia’s metro areas:

• Atlanta — 7.3 percent
• Augusta — 7.3 percent
• Rome — 7.5 percent
• Valdosta — 7.6 percent
• Macon — 7.8 percent
• Columbus — 8.1 percent
• Hinesville — 8.2 percent
• Albany — 8.3 percent
• Brunswick — 8.3 percent
• Dalton — 9 percent
-- Hmmm... why is Columbus sitting in the same group as Albany.. could it be as simple as both a great portion of Columbus ans all of Albant are represented by Sanford Bishop?

Online headline: "Independent Autopsy Reveals New Details About Michael Brown Shooting" -- Yeah... Officer Wilson was correct in his testimony, and all the "I-witnesses" lied.. and the mainstream media, Obamageddon, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton is guilty of fear mongering, race baiting, and violating Officer Wilson's civil rights of a fair trial and due process.
---
You know, with the factual revealing of information in the death of Michael Brown, don't you think mainstream media ought to apologize for its 'lynch mod mentality reporting'? Especially to those who joined the protests because they believed the crap mainstream media spewed out was truthful?
---
Know Nothing Nunn is using another ad with Bush 41. She's been by requested by Bush41 to stop using it. So far, she's not honoring that request. Hmmm..So much for her claiming to be able to work with both sides of the aisle.

Online story: "Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper told a captive national audience after a shooting at Parliament Hill that Canada will stop at nothing to bring those who threaten his nation to justice. * Harper made the defiant remarks in a short statement Wednesday night after a Muslim gunman shot dead a Canadian soldier and stormed parliament with a loaded gun * The assailant, said to be Michael Zeh(_*_)lf-Bibeau, was gunned down by capitol security. * Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot as he was standing guard over the tomb of the unknown soldier at the Canadian National War Memorial by Zeh(_*_)f-Bibeau, * Zehaf-Bibeau reportedly changed his name from Michael Joseph Hall after recently converting to Islam." -- "after recently converting to Islam"? Good grief.. glad this happened in Canada than the US.. The (_*_) was gunned down rather than sympathized over by the president, Obamageddon would have declared this "workplace violence", and the (_*_) was a victim of Christian intolerance.

Online story: "- A 23-year-old apparently unarmed Maryland man (of Nigerian descent.. student..not ascertained as to American citizenship as yet) was in the custody Wednesday night after he climbed over the White House fence and was swiftly apprehended on the North Lawn by uniformed Secret Service agents and their dogs." -- Other unconfirmed "facts" indicate this is not the first time this man has been accosted for an event at the White House.. but what is apparent is that the fence at the White House is no better defended than the fence on our southern border.

Another political pundit predicts that the 2016 Democratic Presidential candidate will either be Hillewinsky or Indian Princess Warren. I guess the Democratic strategy is to nominate a woman. Will someone please tell me which one of these is the Democratic image of a real woman?

HuffPost headline/story: "UNC Officials Failed To Stop 18-Year Long Student Athlete Academic Fraud: Report * A scandal involving bogus classes and inflated grades at the University of North Carolina was bigger than previously reported, encompassing about 1,500 athletes who got easy A's and B's over a span of nearly two decades, according to an investigation released Wednesday. * Most of the athletes were football players or members of the school's cherished basketball program, which won three of its five national titles during the scandal (1993, 2005, 2009). * what, if anything, the NCAA will do next. Penalties could range from fewer scholarships to vacated wins." -- Whatta condemnation of academic liberalism.. liberal profs participating/looking away for the glory of sports. My Dad, Varsity Captain of UNC's golf team in the 1930's, is rolling over in his grave.

It's estimated that 6 million more people will enroll for next year, bringing the total to about 13 million." -- Whoa.. back step this a moment... didn't Obamageddon say that 8,000,000 had signed up last year? Now he's say that if 6,000,000 sign up this time, that 13,000,000 will be enrolled? Which math is he using, Common Core or Constant Crap?

Online headline/story: "California prisons end segregation policy * California officials agreed Wednesday to end a policy in which it segregated prison inmates after riots based on their race as a way of preventing further violence. * Officers have frequently locked inmates in their cells based on which races were involved in the riot, even if individual inmates of that race were not directly implicated." -- Good grief.. inmates ARE running the asylum!

Online story: "South Miami officials have passed a proposal that would divide Florida into two states, the Sun Sentinel reports. * Vice Mayor Walter Harris said he created the proposal because of growing frustration of northern Florida’s apathy on the effects of climate change in South Florida." -- "apathy on effects of climate change"? Good grief.. why doesn't the Vice Mayor of Miami (there's a joke in here, too) just buy a house in Algore's neighborhood in California where he'll find plenty of sympathy?
---
From above story: "The proposal, which passed at an Oct. 7 city commission meeting, notes the sea level is expected to rise 3 to 6 feet in the next 100 years," -- Good grief.. have any of theses "Chicken Little's" ever done the math on the quantity of water it would take to add 3' to 6' of depth to the existing 25,000 MILE circumference of Earth? Even Common Core math and a lying Obamageddon can't come up with that much icecap.

LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Driving through Atlanta on 75/85, that huge, tall, shiny city within a city that used to be an abandoned steel mill was created with TAD funds. The only losers are those who vote against TADs." -- You know, between the local Public Safety/Infrastructure LOST, the T-SPLOST, and the MCSD SPLOST, we taxpayers already contribute over $75,000,000.00 annually to the things the proponents of the Redevelopment Referendum want in addition to our 'some-of-the-highest-property-taxes-in-the-state'. When is enough enough?
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": "A country's legacy is formed from its art, music and literature; not how many wars it wages and will not win. When will this country learn to put heart and soul into something worth preserving?" -- Hmmm .. It wasn't war that led to Rome's collapse.. it was governmental materialism/greed . Same for England in 1776, France in 1789... and Detroit, among other collapsing American cities. All forms of government deteriorate when politicians learn it can buy votes of the masses with the sweat equity of the industrious.
---
From a L-E "Today in History" feature: "On October 22, 1934, bank robber Charles “Pretty Boy” Floyd was shot to death by federal agents and local police at a farm near East Liverpool, Ohio.: -- You know,, these death anniversaries for infamous criminal pop up with regularity, but there's one thing sorta obvious.. we don't see more modern remembrances of such events.. In the future, we;re more than likely going to see dates where infamous criminals were shot.. saved in surgery, and are still alive in our penitentiary system at taxpayer expense.

WTVM9 story: "A free farmer's market was available to the community Wednesday morning. * Free produce was available on a first come, first serve basis to the first 400 families that arrived, * The market was open on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 8 a.m. to noon and was held in the back parking lot of the Columbus Health Department * Amerigroup sponsored the event * Amerigrouip is a CMO of those who qualify for Medicade Peachcare for kids" -- Huh? There's nothing "free" about this.. to begin with food was either bought.or bartered or some sort of tax credit given, so taxpayers have paid for this.. but doing it on a "first come, first serve basis" doesn't even come close to making sure families that really needed a boost were the ones served. Besides,, who was notified of this "event"... and how?

What's with this claim by Monica Lewinsky that NOW she's a victim.. she was a self-motivated instigator of getting close to Clinton and a willing consort with a married man. Shame on her. Shame on both Clinton's, too!

Online story: "CHICAGO — Early voting in Illinois got off to a rocky start Monday, as votes being cast for Republican candidates were transformed into votes for Democrats. * Republican state representative candidate Jim Moynihan went to vote Monday at the Schaumburg Public Library. * “I tried to cast a vote for myself and instead it cast the vote for my opponent,” Moynihan said. “You could imagine my surprise as the same thing happened with a number of races when I tried to vote for a Republican and the machine registered a vote for a Democrat. * Cook County Board of Elections Deputy Communications Director Jim Scalzitti, told Illinois Watchdog, the machine was taken out of service and tested.” -- "tested"? Yeah ... tested to see why the voter was allowed to see the fraud while still in the booth.. bet that machine ends up in a Cemetery Precinct where none of the voters vote Republican. Hmmm. wonder if it was the same model machine used in Philadelphia in which 59 precincts had ZERO votes for Romney in 2012?

There's a new gas station in town on Veterans Parkway and 22/23rd S. making its presence know.. BP regular gas at $2.829 per gallon.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Jason Carter wants to maximize the number of needy students using the HOPE Scholarship, contrary to the lies Deal is spreading." -- Good grief... the Hope Scholarship was envisioned to reward the students who applied themselves in high school.. those who saw where good effort would result in their ability to advance their education regardless of financial need. The education system has destroyed that concept. High schools began issuing Hope qualifying grades to all students, students without college level training went to college anyway then failed/dropped out after a year, using up value resources. Schools added remedial classes and teachers for those classes that taught what the students were already suppose to know. Those excess teacher are still around and all the raises (at multiples of the inflation rate) have eaten up more valuable resources.
---
You know.. the education system has failed itself in regards to Hope Scholarships.. more students with real useable college degrees has not been the result. Now, the people who are inclined to play the lottery have learned that the odds prohibit any chance of winning, so the lottery revenues continue to decline for Hope Scholarships.. especially in ratio to the costs of college.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Debbie Buckner is proud to be a Democrat who votes for Democrats. She doesn’t owe you an explanation of her choices of candidates in our country’s secret ballot system." -- You know.. what does matter is what a Representative says in public that's not in line with what a Representative says in a Party caucus. The public does have a right to know whether a politician says the same thing in both situations.

On a purely local issue: Read Thomas Orr's "Letter to the Editor" in October 23rd's L-E. It's SPOT ON!
