Online headline: "There's a new No. 1 team in college football * Mississippi State became the first team in the poll's 78-year history to go from unranked to No. 1 in five weeks." -- Please indulge me, but when I attended MSU, our football team was most noted for being the SEC's "Most Likely Team to be Scheduled for Other SEC Team's Homecoming Opponent". Hail State!
---
You know.. Nike must be having a hissy-fit. Adidas, not the "swoop" adorn's State's uniforms.
---
All....every kind of electronic warnings/auto-braking systems available industry wide are converging in a Tesla. Remember when seat belts were made mandatory back in the 60s, and if the passenger seat felt a minimum weight, say a bag of groceries or a woman's pocketbook, and if the seatbelt wasn't buckled, a shrill alarm would sound until you buckled it? Well, remember when you wanted to get a mechanic to de-wire the sensors, but none would because it was against the law? We are going to want a cut-off switch for all the electronic warnings/auto-braking features or we'll go nuts driving in Atlanta rush hour traffic.... but there'll be no "mute" button. Bicycles may become popular again.

---
From the "who'da thunk it" department - Online headline: "Adrian Peterson could face suspension * The embattled Vikings running back may face penalties from the NFL even if he is found not guilty," -- Good grief..can you imagine the WWF "benching" Dolph Ziggler or Sheamus for being "too violent"?
---
HuffPost headline: "Navajo Nation president wears Redskins hat * Controversy erupted after Navajo Nation President Ben Shelly was spotted sporting the team's hat at Sunday's game." -- "controversy"? Hey, if you were of Native American descendancy, would you prefer to be called " indigenous" or "Redskin".
---
Hmmm, wonder how long Al Sharpton would scream if liberals started calling him "African-Indigenous"?
---
Just curious as to why those libs in Washington State want to call Columbus Day "indigenous people" Day....yet wanna welcome masses of illegal aliens.
---
Online news story: "Southwest Airlines (LUV) on Monday will offer nonstop service for the first time from Dallas to Los Angeles; Chicago; Washington's Reagan National; Denver; Las Vegas, Nevada; Baltimore; and Orlando, Florida. And beginning next month it will add direct service to eight destinations: New York's LaGuardia; Atlanta; Phoenix; San Diego; Tampa, Florida; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; and Orange County, California." -- Hmmm... nothing to/from Columbus, GA.. Guess Southwest Airlines heard Columbus' Mayor Obamalinson is trying to convert the Columbus airport into a train depot.
---
The Dallas Cowboys beat the Seahawks at home.. Dallas, 5-1, is for real.. "America's Team" is back.. now Falcon fans have another team they can pull for that's winning. And Southwest Airlines wcan get you there, now.
---
HuffPost headline/link: "17 Times Obama Did Things We Absolutely Do Not Agree With * http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/08/obama-being-the-worst-photos_n_5954752.html " -- Pathetically, HuffPost thinks this is newsworthy... and for the HuffPost, this is "hard hitting" for its standards.
---
Turkey may be its own worst enemy. Turkey is sitting back watching ISIS bludgeon the Kurds because Turkey doesn't like the Kurds. Now, what's going to happen when ISIS is through demolishing the Kurds, and advances towards Ankara, and has to ask Obamageddon, no, Congress, for help?
---
Online quote source: "“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” - Dale Carnegie, author "How to Win Friends and Influence People". -- Obviously not a book/author Obamageddon studied nor taught from at U of Chicago.
---
You know, if the school board and school system really wants public support, they should strive to get the public behind their ideas/plans. Instead, both seem to think they can force it on us with a sledge hammer.
---
From the "pathetic reporting" department - Online story: "A Halloween-themed hay ride careened down a hill in the Maine woods and crashed into a tree, fatally injuring a teenage girl and leaving more than 20 other people hurt, police said Sunday." -- "fatally injuring"? Even Bill Clinton could parse this and come up with a one word replacement, "killing".
---
Online story: "The United States is promising $212 million in immediate assistance to the Palestinians as part of an international effort to rebuild the Gaza Strip after this summer's 50-day war." -- "immediate assistance"? For what.. so the Palestinian Hamas can buy more missiles? Palestine wouldn't NEED our money if it just stopped attacking Israel, and used the money they spent on tunnels and missiles to improve things.
---
Online story: "While campaigning in Des Moines, Iowa Friday for Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Braley, Michelle Obama referred to him multiple times as “Bailey” before she was corrected by someone shouting from the audience." -- Well, at least he wasn't in a wheel chair and asked to "stand up" like Biden did to another Democrat.
---
Online story: "The father of a White House advance team member connected to the Secret Service prostitution scandal was refunded a hefty Obama campaign donation, records show, around the same time additional details about that possible link were made public." -- Hmmm.. isn't this just as scandalous as the act itself?
---
With Auburn's loss and Bama's lackluster performance, promoters may very well change the "Iron Bowl" to the "Rusty Bidette"
---
Online story: "A weekend of peaceful daytime protests and nightly police standoffs is expected to continue Sunday as organizers prepare for a wave of resistance they anticipate will lead to widespread, intentional arrests the following day." -- "peaceful...protests" & "intentional arrests"? Sounds like the Ferguson protesters got Bill Clinton to "define" peaceful for them.
---
L-E story: " The Muscogee County School Board will discuss a one-year extension of the employment contract for superintendent David Lewis at a work session tonight." -- Good grief.. the man hasn't even put any points on the scoreboard, and the MCSD board wants to extend his contract.. why.. so they have another year to look for his replacement?
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": "If I were Gov. Deal, I wouldn’t want anyone to hear the words “dishonest” and “untrustworthy” in any context during an election year." -- Huh? "dishonest" and "untrustworthy" are REQUIREMENTS for running as a Democrat.
---
Looking at the "soundoffs" in recent days that are pointed at still unseated new board members, I might guess the school system has hired a person to monitor and submit countering "soundoffs".
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " President Obama inherited a trillion dollar budget deficit, but in six years his policies have reduced the deficit to $486 billion. We need to vote him more Democrats into office Nov. 4th." -- Good grief.. Obamageddon "inherited" a $10 Trillion dollar deficit built over a 238 year period, and in less than than 6 years has added ANOTHER $7 TRILLION dollars, and entitlement programs are worse off today than when he was elected.
---
Good grief.. 100 years ago, the World Series winner was crowned on this day. Today, we're not even finished with the elimination rounds to decide who plays in the World Series. baseball is looking for ways to speed up the games.. what it needs to do is look for ways to speed up THE SEASON!
---
L-E headline: "Jimmy Carter campaigns for his grandson" -- Hmmm, and like other Democrats we know, his grandson will say he didn't know until he read about it in the newspaper.
Hmmm, wonder if Hillewinsky has asked Carter to campaign for her?
---
L-E's "Looking back | Fifty years ago today, October 13, 1964" feature: " More than 700 Episcopalians, including 10 bishops, today accused the Republican presidential ticket of a “transparent exploitation of racism among white citizens.” * The campaign has “sought to frighten citizens by equating the Negro struggle for freedom with crime and violence in the streets,” the statement said." -- Good grief.. it was the Republicans that got the Civil Rights issues passed, not the Democrats. Democrats stood in school doorways to block integration.. heck Al Gore's dad, Democrat Senator from Tennessee, was a staunchly opposed the Civil Rights issues, and Democrat Senator Byrd of WV wore a KKK hood.
---
You know.. the murder rate for Columbus stands around 20 so far this year.. not sure exactly as the L-E
apparently has stopped noting such as it weakens Mayor Obamalinson's claims of lower crimes rates, but if we didn't have as many ERs in Columbus to patch up knifing and shooting victims, just think about how many more murders there would be.
---
You know, before the City hires its choice of new director of the IT Department away from the school system, I think the City should check with the School System to see whether any hard drives are missing of destroyed. If an audit gets done in the school system, the Lois Lerner defense of IRS hard drives/e-mail losses will be a convenient and attractive ploy for the MCSD board.
---
From the Columbus Council Agenda: " FY15 LOCAL GOVERNMENT & IMPROVEMENT GRANT (LMIG) — RIVER ROAD/ BRADLEY PARK DRIVE ROUNDABOUT: Authorization is requested to accept a Local Government & Improvement Grant for $1.5 million from the Georgia Department of Transportation for the River Road/Bradley Park Drive Improvement Project." -- Good grief.. the DOT in charge of another project, like the Whittlesey Road renovation, that will not be finished on time or for the budgeted amount. Besides, unless a totally new plan has been submitted since I discussed them earlier with Councilman Davis.. we are going to be stuck with a catastrophe ... forever!
---
More from the Council Agenda: "CHARGING STATION GRANT — 11TH STREET AND BROADWAY: Authorization is requested to submit an application and, if awarded, accept a $50,000 grant with a required $5,000, which is 10 percent of the local match from the Georgia Environmental Financial Association for installation costs of a vehicle charging station to be donated by Nissan and to amend the multi-governmental fund by the amount of the award and local match." -- Hmmm $50,000.00 would pay for about 17,000 gallons of gasoline, and the charging station is not costing us $5,000.00 in tax dollars.. taxes are being used to pay for it all!
