Online story: "- A man suspected of killing two deputies during a shooting rampage in Northern California was deported twice to Mexico and had a drug conviction, federal authorities said." -- "twice deported"? You know, deportation should not be an option more than once, and NONE if the deportation option occurred AFTER a felony conviction! What America needs now is for the families of the two KILLED deputies to press for the state of California to file charges against Attorney General Pric Holder for accessory to murder!

Online headline: "Marine killed in Iraq in the fight against ISIS * Lance Cpl. Sean P. Neal died during a non-combat incident this week, becoming the second American casualty of the ISIS campaign." -- It's bad enough to be "Boots on the ground" in the mid-east, but to be said to have died in a "non-combat incident" is disgusting on our military's part. Every American soldier is in harms way when assigned to another country under strife.

On amore pleasurable subject: #1 Mississippi State took care of business yesterday! Hail State!
---
Of all the big plays Dak Prescott made for Mississippi State, two of his best were blocks that decked players trying to tackle his teammates.
---
What's with those metallic silver mirror-like helmets Kentucky was wearing? Just the possibility of a sun-flash should make them illegal.
---
Looks like the SEC will have to have two All-Conference teams..one for the East so some of their players can make an All-Conference team.
---
Was one of the better weekends for uniforms, but Utah gets the call this weekend for the ugliest ones.

Online story: "A 26-year-old Iranian woman convicted of murdering a man she accused of trying to rape her as a teenager was hanged on Saturday, the official news agency IRNA said, despite international pleas for her life to be spared. * Reyhaneh Jabbari walked to the gallows at dawn on Saturday in Tehran's Evin prison after failing to secure a reprieve from the murder victim's relatives within the 10-day deadline set by sharia law in force since the 1979 Islamic Revolution." -- "Sharia law in force since the 1979 Islamic Revolution"? "1979"? Jimmy Carter just cannot shake his incompetency as a president.. what makes anyone in GA think his grandson can handle the governorship?
---
From the "do we need any more proof someone is stupid" department - HuffPost headline: "Obama Meets With Ebola Survivor Nina Pham At White House" -- No further comment necessary.

One of our fellow BCers was a victim of the GA DOT commandeering his entire business property versus the right-of-way that would allow road improvement. His knowledge and accumulation of examples should make even the biggest Kool-Aid drinkers (especially our Councilors) of the TAD referendum issue on the November ballot shake. This is another story about the power of Eminent Domain that our L-E must have conveniently "forget to remember before endorsing it:
"Ledger Enquirers September 4, 2011

Mayor Teresa Tomlinson threatens legal action against Decatur Court property owners if crime-ridden complex isn't cleaned up. (Headline)

From the article:

The state laws that Tomlinson’s letter cites are Georgia Code 41-3-2, which allows the city to seek an injunction against the property owner and occupants, in effect shutting the place down, and 16-13-49, which allows the city to seize property that is persistently used in drug-related activity.
Anyway you look at it putting more money into politicians hands is a bad idea."
Hmmm.. you know.. once a politician has used.. even threatened to use such destructive power, it becomes a preferred method of operation.
---
From the same "victim": Hal, just a thought. Perhaps the way to explain the TAD is as a funding mechanism. With passage the city will be able to borrow large amounts of money on spurious promises of future successful redevelopment. In the meanwhile they will have the finances to aggressively wield existing eminent domain laws on the poorest and most defenseless property owners amongst us." -- This is a nut-in-a-shell explanation for the need to stop this initiative of the politically connected.
---
You know... I wish I could say without a doubt that the TAD Referendum is the most clandestine campaign Mayor Obamalinson has ever run, but she runs all her "wants" this way. She probably advises Valerie Jarrett at the White House.
---
Straight from the L-E: " On Nov. 4, Columbus voters will decide whether to allow the city government to exercise redevelopment powers to create Tax Allocation Districts in an effort to reduce blight and underutilized property." -- Is this not confirmation that easier Eminent Domain is the goal of the Mayor and Council. Councilor Thomas should be embarrassed by her staunch support of this initiative, Her responses have been totally denying of this.
---
Good grief... the L-E must have noticed that I'm a Mississippi Stater. In the L-E today, Mississippi State, the SEC team that's ranked # 1 (Love it!) in the country had it's win over Kentucky relegated to the "also played" section while the L-E headlined Auburn and LSU wins.. Oh... BTW Mississippi State had already beaten both of those teams earlier in the season.
Very random thought: My cats are aging so I started buying some "mature" cat food. That stuff must be made entirely of diuretics and laxatives. All the seemed to do was eat & drink, pee and poop. They were going through a jug of clumping litter every day. I threw out what I had left today and went back to their old stuff.
---
Online story: "DENVER — Concerns are running high over door-to-door campaign workers asking voters for their mail-in ballots in what is known as “ballot harvesting.” * All-mail voting is the law of the land in Colorado, so the challenge for campaigns is to persuade voters to drop off or mail in their ballots — or hand them to the foot soldiers who turn up on their doorsteps offering to do it for them. * These are totally unauthorized people coming to the door and gathering ballots and doing whatever they want to them,” said Marilyn Marks, president of the Aspen-based Citizen Center, which focuses on election integrity." -- The reason we can't find Jimmy Hoffa is that he isn't dead.. he must have moved to Colorado and become the Democrat Campaign manager! Is Colorado's voting scheme not the most conducive to voter fraud than anywhere else (including Chicago)? What stops a "harvester" from checking party registration lists and just trashing the ballot from an address on the "wrong" list? DOJ.. where are you!
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " “Bad” people voting? You must mean the Republicans who outsourced my real job and left me with three mini-jobs, no health care, no SNAP, no arts, music or literature." -- Mayor Obamalinson must be working as hard on conjuring up "soundoffs" as she is in covering up the real purpose of the TAD referendum. Who but she would join "arts-SNAP-music-literature" with a complaint about outsourcing and healthcare? Oh.. and her "three mini-jobs"... Mayor- Lawyer-Propagandist.
---
It's ironic that the L-E is running a series on marijuana.. Must have been from an in-house story, and now the L-E cannot keep up its "home" and is having to downsize.
---
You know.. as hard as women and blacks, and naturalized citizens had to fight to get voting rights afforded white men by birth in past centuries, you would think they would cherish having a photo-ID to prove it, and demand everyone else to have one, too.
---
I think I need some of the surgery Richard Hyatt wrote about this morning.. I swear I saw a L-E truck ad from a dealer trying to sell a used 2013 Ford 150 truck for $44,997.00.
