From the "we are not alone" department: "TERESOPOLIS, Brazil (AP) -- Go ahead, FIFA, stop the music if you want. Fans will keep singing anyway. * FIFA limits anthems to 90 seconds so they can get the World Cup games going quickly. * Brazil's anthem normally lasts almost four minutes and has an introduction of nearly 20 seconds before the lyrics start. FIFA said the Brazilian federation provided a 60-second version.
After the music ends, Brazilian players and fans continue singing even louder for nearly a minute, belting out the lyrics, which include a reference to "the resounding cry of a heroic people." The sing-a-along ignites the crowd and motivates the team." -- Doesn't matter what liberals conjure up... patriotism will rise. long live the Tea Party movement... everywhere!

---
What are the Republicans "thinking" in electing Kevin McCarthy, a California 'republican' at that, and giving mainstream media and Democratic Party strategists free range to refer to any Republican action as "McCarthyism"... again?

---
Online headline: "Harley-Davidson introduces electric motorcycle" -- Hmmm.. I guess calling it a 'hog' will be out.. perhaps it'll be known as "oinker" or "l'il squealer".Me.. I'm selling "the stock".

---
What is Mexico's problem? Numerous Mexican soldiers have been caught, armed to the teeth, on our side if the border where there was no driving error to account for, and "we" just sent/took them back. Why are they holding our Marine Sgt Tahmooressi?

---
Retired General David Patraeus says Iraqi's deserves a government all its people can trust..hmmm..I agree...and so do all Americans.

---
How come mainstream media sees wisdom in not taking sides between Sunnis, Kurds, and Shiites, yet coldfastedly grasps onto liberals against Republicans & Tea Party movement groups?

---
If it's a "slur word" when used to describe the Washington Redskins football team/players/fans, why are mainstream media reporters so comfortable repeating it (versus "R-word") over the airwaves? I do believe I've heard "Redskins" voiced more times this week than I heard over the last 3 or 4 football seasons.

From the "how come I didn't see this 3 months ago" department - March 7, 2014 story: "Jeri Wright was found guilty of a fraud scheme that siphoned thousands of taxpayer dollars intended for a not-for-profit work and education program known as We Are Our Brother's Keeper. * Prosecutor Timothy Bass said Jeri Wright lied "over and over" and went on a "spending spree" that included traveling to Las Vegas, buying vehicles, and remodeling her basement with cash from the money laundering scheme. * She was found guilty on all counts. * "If you take and misuse government money, and then lie about it, you will be held accountable in a court of law," said U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois, Jim Lewis." -- Yes, she's Jeremiah Wright's daughter..Of interest at that same time, mainstream media reported that:
1 - According to Jesse Jackson, Congressman Issa is a racist because he's white, and because he argued with Congressman Cummings who is black. Hmmm, Mr Jackson, what do you call the white Rutgers' professors who said former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice wasn't fit to address graduates at commencement?
2 - Following Judas 00-Barnum's "rspect" dis of Aretha Franklin, rumor has it she addressed him as "mr. resident".
3 - Rutgers professors petitioned for the dismissal of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as a commencement speaker

-- Hmmm, It's interesting how mainstream media can cherry-pick what it wants to report to distract most of America from the real news of the period.

---
Why would Native Americans object to being honored by the Washington Redskins? Think about it..The NFL affiliation has a much better history and track record than the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of this government.

---
Did you hear Sen. Lindsey Graham speaking yesterday AM? I heard him reference our "Director of Intelligence". You know, I can " see" Sen Graham actually believing there is a Director of Intelligence Office, but I suggest it'd been an unfilled job for the past 10+ years.

---
I saw an ad yesterday that really affected me.. It was an anti-David Perdue ad featuring "Obama" hoping Perdue would win. I first thought that it was one of those independent PAC ads where candidates cannot control the content, but at the end of the ad, there was a Kingston "I approve this ad" tag. I voted fro Perdue in the primary, but had changed my mind and WAS going to vote for Kingston in the runoff...

Online story: "Only one state has jacked up tuition and fee costs for college students more than Georgia did in the five-year period from 2008 to 2013, according to a recent study conducted by the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association. * Only in New Mexico, where net tuition and fees rose a remarkable 188 percent, did state officials shift the cost of college from government to students more than legislators in Georgia. Here, net tuition revenue per student went up by 93 percent as legislators cut education appropriations and reduced the value of the HOPE Scholarship many students depend on for college expenses." -- Hmmm, in effect, the Hope Scholarship no longer cuts the cost of college for the student/family. The lottery funds have basically gone straight into teacher salaries/benefits, and students and their families' are paying for the rest of the experience. It's time to shut down the lottery and eliminate this self-imposed tax.

HuffPost story: "In New York City, robberies involving Apple products fell 19 percent during the first five months of this year compared with the same period the year before, officials said. Meanwhile, violent robberies targeting people with Samsung smartphones, many of which do not have a kill switch, increased more than 40 percent in the city during that same period." -- Hmmm, what the article left out is that this wasn't happening at all when "stop&frisk" was the street rule in NYC before now Mayor de Blasio stopped it.

---
HuffPost story: "The District of Columbia public school system, one of the first in the country to evaluate teachers using student test scores, announced Thursday that it would suspend the practice while students adjust to new tests based on Common Core standards. * Chancellor Kaya Henderson announced the decision, saying officials are concerned it wouldn't be fair to use the new tests until a baseline is established and any complications are worked out." -- Huh? How do you establish a "baseline" WITHOUT keeping score?
---
Online story: "Republicans slammed a Democrat's television ad on Thursday that compares Iowa Senate candidate Joni Ernst to a chick. * "Let's not forget that national Democrats have made claims of misogyny and unfair attacks against women the centerpiece of their electoral strategy, * Does anyone doubt that if a male Republican candidate ran an ad comparing a female Democratic candidate to a chick, reporters' inboxes would be filled with outraged press releases demanding that the ad be condemned and taken down? Of course not." -- Hmm.. guess all I need to add to this is the exclamation point.....!
---
HuffPost story: "If you want Americans to like Obamacare, giving them some money seems to help. A new poll reveals that previously uninsured people and those who received subsidies to buy health care under the Affordable Care Act are much happier with the new law than those who were forced to switch health care plans." -- Hmmm all these lib polls abound, but have you seen one that shows how many people are now independently insured versus how many were independently insured BEFORE OObamaCRAP?
--
Online story: "Most people who signed up under President Barack Obama's health care law rate their new insurance highly, but a substantial number are struggling with the cost, according to a poll released Thursday. * The survey from the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation provides findings that both sides in the health care debate can seize on. It's an ambitious look at people who buy their coverage individually; they're the ones most affected by the Affordable Care Act. * The poll found that Obama's law is achieving one of its main goals by covering the uninsured. Fifty-seven percent of the 8 million people who bought a plan through the new insurance exchanges were previously uninsured." -- Whoa.. Actually found some ""nonpartisan" info.. 57% of 8,000,000 is about 4,560,000. Wasn't the "number" for success (in the Mosqued Man's mind ...and words) to get 7,000,000 of 47,000,000 previously uninsured signed up?

L-E story: "Whitewater Express owner Dan Gilbert met earlier this week with Phenix City Manager Wallace Hunter, Economic Development Director Shaun Culligan and Finance Director Steve Smith. The meeting came after Phenix City questioned Whitewater Express’ hours of operation and commitment to its Phenix Plaza store. Last year, it was the base of operation as nearly 17,000 people went down the river in the first year of the whitewater course. * This year, Whitewater Express has a new riverfront store in downtown Columbus. Almost all of the rafting trips are being booked at that store. What’s at stake is a 3.5 percent per trip fee that goes to the city where the trip is purchased. Trip prices range from about $34 to $50 per person. * The plan last year when the course opened was to have two outfitters, one on each side of the river. Nantahala Outdoor Center was selected by Uptown Whitewater Management Inc., to run the Columbus store and Whitewater Express was picked for the Alabama side. NOC pulled out of Columbus a month before the course opened, leaving Whitewater Express as the lone operator on both sides of the river. * Last year, the Columbus store on Bay Avenue was not complete, forcing Whitewater Express to run all of its operations on the Phenix City side. * One of the plans is to run instructional programs out of the Phenix Plaza store. That will include fly fishing and kayak schools, Gilbert said. It also will offer rafting trips. Gilbert called the Columbus store a “lifestyle” store with clothing and other merchandise. * “We don’t want the same store on both sides of the river,” Gilbert said" -- "we don't want the same store on both sides of the river"? Heh heh heh... truth is it only wants one store and one set of expenses, and somehow, Whitewater Express has decided it wants a Columbus address rather than the city that it contracted with's address. The truth is that neither city is going to really benefit from the fee schedule when compared to the preliminary expenses each digested in start up costs, and the ongoing maintenance will never be made from future fee collections, and when you split that between two city entities, both will suffer.

Let's do some figures.. say all 17,000 first year rafters paid $50.00's a run: 17000 x $50.00 = $850,000.00 in revenue) -- 3.5% of that would generate $29,750.00. Let's generate figures on a more successful number of riders.. say 50,000... -- 50000 x $50.00 = $2,500,000.00 in revenues which would generate $87,500.00 in "fees" -- Shoot, Mayor Obamalinson has already spent $1.900,000.00 (on top of the City funds that built the course) repairing the river bank damages (most probably caused by redirecting the Chattahoochee to begin with). If Columbus collected ALL those fees for the next 20 years.. 20 X $87,500 = $1,750,000.00 which would mean we will still be in the whole for the first repair, and not completely reimbursed. Split that with Phenix City, and Columbus is talking about being in the hole 40 years from now... and that's if the rafters triple in quantity from the first grand-opening surge year.
---
Hmmm, can you imagine how much better off Columbus would be financially if only the original plan to restore the Chattahoochee was adhered to? We'd have rapids, natural ones at that, and rafters and kayakers, and canoeists, and nature lovers walking the RiverWalk.. all for about $2,000,000.00, and minimum ongoing expenses.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Republicans won’t address the global warming crisis because their special interests are more important than humanity." -- Hmmm.. The way I see is that conservatives don't have as big an ego as liberals. Liberals seem to be full of their bigger than God capability to exude enough "hot air" to create global climate change.
---
L-E's " Thought for Today, “A man’s errors are his portals of discovery.” — James Joyce, Irish poet (1882-1941)." -- Hmmm...unless the man's errors are from Democrat computers and are deemed crashed/lost in spite of what the truth is.
---
L-E story: "Increasing numbers of French Jews are leaving for Israel, citing dim economic prospects and a sense of being caught between an increasingly influential far right and militant Islam. More than 5,000 are on track to leave this year, the most since after the Six-Day War in 1967. * Israel, seeing the influx as a success, is doubling down on its efforts to attract Europeans, planning to dedicate $29 million over two years to bring in new immigrants." -- Hmmm, wonder when NYC & Miami will experience their 21st Century "exodus"?
---
L-E story: " The Obama administration wants colleges and universities to compile more thorough statistics on stalking, dating violence and domestic violence." -- Wanna bet the hard drives in the administrative offices "crashed" in 2011 like the IRS ones?
---
L-E story: " DENVER — Hundreds of pounds of industrial hemp seeds bound from Canada to Colorado have been seized by federal authorities in North Dakota, marking the latest bump along the road to legalization of marijuana’s non-intoxicating cousin." -- Heh heh heh.. Hey Colorado. Washington State... marijuana is still illegal in the other 48. Well, actually, marijuana is illegal, federally, in your states, but you can't import illegal substances from other countries, either.

After looking at pictures of masked and armed terrorists in the Middle-East, do the undercover terrorists eliminate their masks to blend in with their enivornment?
---
L-E story: "ALBANY, N.Y. — Dominique Mayfield makes $8.25 an hour washing dishes and busing tables at a Syracuse brewpub. Shantel Walker makes $8.50 an hour at her pizzeria in New York City, where the rent is more than double what it is in Syracuse. Two very different cities, but nearly the same wage." -- For 50 cents an hour more, worker "B" lives in a city where rent is double that of worker "A". Seems worker "A" is smarter than worker "B".
---
Inane Letter to the L-E editor: " As a native Georgian, the death penalty frightens me because I feel no government should be able to end a human life no matter what the accused was convicted of. * I prefer the United Nations Declarations of Human Rights as a goal for New Georgia. * WALTER THORNE * New York, N.Y. -- "native Georgian? Maybe from another planet, but what's even sadder is that this is not the first letter the Columbus L-E has published from this looney.
---
L-E headline: "(GA) JOBLESS RATE HITS 7.2 PERCENT IN MAY * Labor chief says increase due to college grads, high school students seeking work" -- Hmmm, maybe Chelsea Clinton-Whatever, and Michelle Nunn-Martin can find them some volunteer work to distract them while they mooch off their parents a few more years.
---
From a L-E story on Mayor Obamalinson's quarterly "Teresa Talks, and Talks, and Talks" forums: " (A woman) who lives near the intersection of Green Island Drive and River Road, wanted to know if the proposed roundabout at that intersection is a “sure thing.” * “The best part of that would be slowing down the log trucks coming down River Road,” she said." -- Hmmm the only "sure thing" is the diminished value of her and other intersection neighbors' homes. More noises, less yards, more lights shining through their windows all night long.
---
L-E headline/story: "Eastwood’s ‘Jersey Boys’ is out of tune * BY ROGER MOORE McClatchy-Tribune News Service * Whatever charms turned the musical “Jersey Boys” into a Tony-winning Broadway hit are sorely missed in Clint Eastwood’s tone-deaf corpse of a movie.* Late to the game, blandly cast and scripted with every Italian-American cliche, it is Eastwood’s worst film as a director." -- Besides being a general purpose McClatchy hit job on Clint.. the writer is not very knowledgeable of Eastwood Productions.. Everyone knows "Bronco Billy" was his worse movie.
---
L-E story: "Fans of the Kansas City Chiefs, Cleveland Indians and Atlanta Braves probably shouldn’t be concerned about their teams’ nicknames. * Those franchises probably wouldn’t lose their trademark protection as the Washington Redskins did because “Chiefs,” “Indians” and “Braves” are probably seen as more generic than offensive" -- Wait a minute.. IS a personal grudge against the Washington Redskins owner! "Indians" hasn't been an acceptable name since political correctness reared it's racist head. We've been chastised as insensitive for not referring to "indigenous" people as "Native Americans" (even though they came here from elsewhere).
