It's a Friday the 13th... rare enough, but even rarer tonight as there will
also be a "full moon". Take a gander as there won't be another convergence of a
"Friday the 13th" and a "full moon" until 2049. In other words, this is the last
chance to actually see this rare occurrence for the majority of us BCers.

Online story: "Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton engaged in an
awkward exchange with NPR's Terry Gross on Thursday when the radio host pushed
her on her evolving stance on gay marriage * Clinton responded vaguely to Gross'
attempts to clarify whether the likely 2016 candidate's position on gay marriage
changed at any point, making general points like "just because you’re a
politician doesn’t mean you’re not a thinking human being," -- "evolving
stance"? "just because you’re a politician doesn’t mean you’re not a thinking
human being,"? Hmmm, altogether, boys and girls, can we say
"F-l-i-p-f-l-o-p....

Online story: "TAOS, N.M. – (Kit) Carson, who died in 1868, is buried in
the cemetery at the park and his name is all over Taos. He largely is known as
an explorer, trapper, soldier and American Indian agent. * Carson was ordered by
the U.S. Army to relocate around 8,000 Navajo men, women and children 300 miles
from Arizona to Fort Sumner, New Mexico, on what's called the "Long Walk." An
estimated 200 Navajos died from cold and starvation after traveling in brutal
and harsh winter conditions for almost two months. * A northern New Mexico town
council has voted to change the name of Kit Carson Park over concerns by critics
that the famed scout and explorer was cruel to American Indians." -- Good
grief.. "concerns by critics"? How about "proof"... to boot, if there is
something to go on a "war party" about, it's against the US government, not Kit
Carson nor his burial grounds.
---
Online headline: "Rick Perry reportedly compares homosexuality to
alcoholism at San Francisco event" -- Good grief... to begin with, what in hell
was Rick Perry doing at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco?
---
Online story: "Less than three years after pulling American forces out of
Iraq, President Barack Obama is weighing a range of short-term military options,
including airstrikes, to quell an al-Qaida inspired insurgency that has captured
two Iraqi cities and threatened to press toward Baghdad." -- Huh? How can this
be.. Judas 00-Barnum previously announced the US no longer had al-Qaida or
al-Qaida issues?
---
Online headline: "Americans being evacuated from Iraqi air base as
militants advance" -- You know, it's going to be the Taliban which flies the
next "Mission Accomplished" banner .
---
From above story: "For more than a year, the Iraqi government has been
pleading with the U.S. for additional help to combat the insurgency, which has
been fueled by the civil war in neighboring Syria." -- Hmmm... ignoring pleas
for help seems to be a pattern of Judas 00-Barnum whether it is from American
citizens or Benghazi diplomats....."Baghdazi"?
---
During all this turmoil, Judas 00-Barnum has declared that the world is
less violent than it has been.. Who is this "mosqued man"?
---
Hmmm... the resurgence of al Qaida in Iraq (and everywhere else) is sorta
reminding me of a local issue.. Our Mayor Obamalinson announced before the
election that we don't have any gangs or gang issues here in Columbus, too
---
Random thought: You know.. while I do not plan on watching any of it, I
wouldn't mind if the Spurs took the NBA title.

From the "it must be a California thing, we cannot understand" department -
Online story: "A burglary defendant who won his freedom because of a jury's
mistake lost his life a few hours later when he was stabbed to death in a fight.
* The jury in the trial of Bobby Lee Pearson, 37, mistakenly signed a not-guilty
form Wednesday, and the flabbergasted judge said he had no choice but to order
him to be released from jail because the verdict had already been put on the
record. * It was too late when the judge finally learned that the jury was
unable to reach a verdict, stalling on an 8-4 vote in favor of guilt.
Prosecutors might have had an opportunity to retry Pearson, but by then,
changing the verdict form would have exposed Pearson to double jeopardy." --
Good grief... don't even go there.. there meaning he deserved to die because
there is no "death sentence" for burglary, but... BUT this does draw attention
to how our jury system no longer seems to understand its role in protecting the
public.
---
Online headline: "No one fired after outing of CIA station chief in
Afghanistan" -- Hmmm.. not that this is any surprise since Judas 00-Barnum only
fires high ranking US military officers, but does the name, the situation, of
Valerie Plame come back to mind?
---
Online story: "The installation of 20-foot-tall letters spelling out
T-R-U-M-P on the side of the billionaire's gleaming Chicago skyscraper has
triggered a war of words between Donald Trump and Rahm Emanuel — with the city's
mayor saying he's looking for a way to undo the "architecturally tasteless"
sign, and the developer in no mood to take anything down." -- Wow... what a
natural political skirmish for the streets of Chicago.. a person who's
"politically tasteless" accusing someone of who's "societally tasteless" of
being "architectually tasteless" in a town that's devoid of taste.
---
Online story: "A targeting memo sent to the State Department by the Defense
Department’s Africa Command two days after the Benghazi attack listed 11
suspects with ties to Al Qaeda and other groups, counter-terrorism and
congressional sources confirmed to Fox News. * This is significant because it
arrived two days before then-UN ambassador Susan Rice appeared on television
shows blaming the assault on an inflammatory video. It also came nearly a day
before presidential aide Ben Rhodes sent an email also suggesting the video –
and not a policy failure – was to blame for the Sep, 11, 2012 attack that
claimed four American lives." -- it's a shame this won't send a "tingle" up
Chris M(_*_)tthews' leg...
---
"We Made This".... That's the latest ad slogan of Chrysler.. How come a
company " we" bailed out can say "We Made This", but Judas 00-Barnum told us
that we didn't build our businesses?
---
L-E headline: "Riverfront splash pad closed for repairs" -- And Uptown
wants a $244K bathroom to maintain?
---
Why is it our DOT has an unmarked-for-use $195,000.00 sitting around to
spend on a bathroom? I've got a list of potholes I'd rather see fixed, and if
there's some left over, I'm sure our schools could use it.

Online story: "On the second day of her Hard Choices book tour, Hillary
Clinton compared the 2008 Democratic primary to the 1860 primary between "a
senator from Illinois named Lincoln and a senator from New York named Seward."
But Abraham Lincoln actually lost his Senate campaign to Stephen A. Douglas." --
You know.. Monica taught us Hillary was emotionally and morally "broke", Hillary
then told us when she left the White House financially "broke", then her
Benghazi actions showed us she's compassion :broke", and now we find out she's
historically "broke". Let's face it... Hillary is the 20th/21st Century "Humpty
Dumpty"...and I doubt Judas 00-Barnum wants to put her back together
again...

The latest from www.barackobama/organizingforaction.com:
"Yesterday, a group of Senate Republicans blocked a common-sense proposal to
help Americans reduce the burden of student loan debt. * It's depressing --
student loan debt is spiraling out of control in our country, totaling nearly
$1.2 trillion and surpassing both credit card and auto loan debt in size. * This
bill simply would have allowed folks to refinance their loans at today's rates"
-- Good grief! Since when does "refinancing" actually REDUCE a debt? It may
change a payment schedule, but the debt is still there. The only thing common
sense will show is that Judas 00-Barnum has none.

Another random thought: I tell you what, the US Open in HD on a 60" TV is
wunnerful! I just saw a bug crawling across a green as a camera zoomed in on a
ball going into a cup.

From the "is it just coincidence that California comes up when weird things
are reported" department - Online story: "Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) would like
America to come to terms with the prisoner swap in which the United States
recovered Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in exchange for five Taliban commanders. Even
thoughAmerican intelligence officials believe four of the five Taliban
commanders will rejoin the fight against the United States and the friendly
Afghan government, Speier said that their release from Guantanamo was
inevitable. * The California congresswoman went on to observe that the language
used when talking about this deal is unhelpful. Contradicting the White House,
which conceded last week that members of the Taliban were added to the list of
Specially Designated Global Terrorists in 2002, Speier expressed concern with
the use of the term “terrorists.” She added that the Taliban, a group which the
United States has fought the longest war in its history to overthrow, is “part
of the fabric of Afghanistan.” -- Why can't we simply vote California "off the
island"?
---
One more comment about the liberals' "good intention" thoughts about
providing $1,000.00 armored blankets to every school kid to protect against
shooters: You know, if every child at Sandy Hook had one of these stuffed in
his/her "cubby hole", the chances of any of them being able to retrieve, then
put on, then successfully attain a safe position would have been near zero.
Thousands of dollars would have been wasted, but a trained and armed person
could have taken out the (_*_) when he entered the school. In fact, such cowards
probably would not have entered the school knowing someone was inside capable of
firing back.
---
Online headline: "After Declaring the Tea Party Dead, Liberals Scramble to
Anti-Semitism as Reason for Cantor Defeat" -- Hmmm, the libs can't backtrack on
their first assumptions, so they toss out 1 of their three trump cards. This
time, the Anti-Semite card was thrown as the "race card" and "women's issues"
ones weren't up their sleeves at the moment.
---
L-E story: " A U.S. defense official says released captive Army Sgt. Bowe
Bergdahl is scheduled to arrive at a military medical center in Texas today." --
Hmmm, don't you know there are thousands of families wishing their
spouse/parent/friend/sibling who actually fought for the US was arriving home
safely in Texas today?
---
L-E's "Looking back | Fifty years ago today, June 13, 1964" feature: "The
Columbus Ledger has won a coveted first place award in community service for
articles written by its editor, Carlton M. Johnson, on the school dropout
problem." -- Hmmm, and there's still no solution in the MCSD system. Taking a
second look, John Wells has been serving on the school board more than half of
this time frame, and he wants us to re-elect him? Good grief! Do not forget to
vote in the runoff on July 22nd!
---
L-E story: "Jobless claims rose modestly last week but remained low,
indicating that the labor market is continuing to grow at a solid pace. * The
number of people filing for first-time unemployment benefits increased to
317,000 in the week ended Saturday, up from the previous week’s revised figure
of 313,000, the Labor Department said Thursday." -- Good grief... 317.000 filed
for 1st time unemployment benefits and someone in the Judas 00-Barnum fold can
find "good" in this? This is one week... there are 52/53 weeks in a year..,This
is an annual figure of over 16 MILLION 1st time filers per year...It's almost
like the government hires someone one week, fires them the next week so they can
file unemployment, and while this is going on, hires someone else in that job
slot to claim another job was created for that report.

One of our BCers brought up a very good point the other day... Why are
government giveaway programs called "entitlements"? An "entitlement" is
something you've earned, something yuou've worked hard to get access to... We
work and contribute, well most do, to fund our Social Security and MediCare
accounts, so we are "entitled" to draw against them when we get older. What have
people "worked for" to get all the giveaways that our government offers. I don't
think crossing illegal in our country qualifies, and I don't think offering your
vote to a candidate that promises you something for nothing qualifies, either.
