L-E story: " A few weeks back we wrote about a drainage ditch that runs alongside Booth Street on the other side of town, off of Floyd Road. * Well, I went out there last week and they’d addressed the beejeebers out of the problem. With large rocks and lots of concrete, the city made sure that the erosion wouldn’t return there for 100 years or so." -- Obviously, "Keep Columbus Beautiful" was not called in to help address this problem.. This is worse that putting a band-aid on when major surgery should have been required. Where's Red McDaniel when we need him! Oh, well, guess the saving will make sure the RiverWalk toilets will be better maintained .. yeah, right!

Today is President's Day... I'm thinking NERO-bamageddon might sit this one out.... Hillary and Bernie, too.. I mean, why would a Democrat president or presidential hopeful step out into the sunlight and be compare to "Honest Abe" Lincoln, and George "I cannot tell a lie" Washington?
---
The nation will mourn the passing of Justice Scalia. Many will be concerned about who NERO-bamageddon will appoint as his replacement, but I'm not worried as I don't think the Republican Senate will fold. You know..the U.S. Supreme Court is often described as a 5/4 split between conservatives and liberals...but it's really not that way. What we really have is 5 people who will listen to the presentations, weigh them, then apply the Constitutional tenets to their opinions, and 4 people who we already know how they will vote regardless of fact or conditions.
---
Online story: "Presidential candidate and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) lauded Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia after news of the justice's death broke Saturday, but said President Barack Obama should not be the one to appoint his replacement." -- Cruz.. Rubio, too, should be resolute but calm about going after NERO-bamageddon. NERO-bamageddon just nominates a Justice candidate.. the Senate must approve him/her, but the more Cruz or Rubio speak out about this, the likelihood that NERO-bamageddon names a political football becomes more inevitable. It will be someone, or a series of nominees/withdrawals of extremist selections that Hillary and/or Bernie will use any Republican's objects as an issue for segments of voters.
---
I hope the Republicans remember to honor Justice Scalia's life and input to our nation. Justice Scalia was his own man, and a treasure to our country. Liberals will be dancing in the streets like Muslims following 9-11-01.

Online headline: "Math's link to future locust dispersal" -- Yeah.. I've got a "mathematical" solution, too.. "disperse" every known copy of Common CRAP math books, and let people just swat the Locusts to death!
---
Online story: "A former Obama administration intelligence official says Hillary Clinton should stop campaigning." -- "a former Obama administration intelligence official"? Good grief.. this could be the ultimate oxymoron! The only level above this would be "an honest Obama administration official".
---
Online headline: "Police: Brooklyn teen tries to steal Air Jordans, loses arm in Craigslist robbery gone wrong" -- Hmmm.. how much more appropriate would this be if the robber lost his foot instead?
---
Incredibly misinformed LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Teresa Tomlinson’s record is one of substance and ceremony. Thanks mayor. Carry on. -- "Substance and ceremony"? Maybe fund balance substance "abuse" and Columbus' "funeral" ceremonies...
---
L-E headline: "$60M transformation: City Village master plan to bring jobs, housing, retail" -- Is it just me or do others see the same pattern evolving as the Peabody and BTW complexes? Aside from relocating Chase Homes (as part of the masterplan of convenience to move low income homes/families out of the way), and the GA Power Towers of Doom, how and where do you relocate homeless people from the resources in the area that service their daily needs?
---
I have this to say to Madeleine Albright... "How did Hillary help Monica?"
---
Why is it that Liberals feel the first response to issues is to raise taxes? If the government was efficient, economic and population growth would generate more revenue each year making tax increases unnecessary.
---
Another thing the Homestead exemption is the same amount for $50K home as a $1.Million dollar one..the lower cost home gets the better deduction. That, more than the freeze, is what a number of homes seem to pay "too little"... but that's only in the mind of Mayor TomLYINGson.
---
You would think that there would be a simple tax rate structure for personal homes is Columbus.. but there isn't. A newly purchased home today that cost $50,000.00 will have a homestead exemption tax rate of $743.40. Now, you'd think that if a home bought for 10 times that much would have 10 times more taxes,,say $7,434.00.. but you'd be wrong.. Taxes on a $500,000.00 home with the homestead exemption are going to be $8,177.40... and the homeowner of the $50K home gets the same services as the owner of the $500K home.

Roundabout comment of the day: I assume you probably have seen the "drawing" for the proposed River Road/Bradley Park/Green Island Drive/Cascade Road roundabout.. What you do not see is that the drawing is "flat".. two dimensional.. but that's not the truth. From Bradley Park Dive, there is about a 10" elevation change leading into the River Road intersection, and looking West from 5o yards north of that intersection, there is a 6"-8" upward elevation change as well. Can you not see that the elevay=tion changes are going to create some reverse banked turns that will be unsafe for every tractor trailer rig.. especially logging trucks because their load is top heavy and such turns ceate "load shifts".
---
L-E "headLIE": "SCALIA’S DEATH FLIPS DYNAMICS OF COURT, HURTS CONSERVATIVES" -- Hurts conservatives"? Dang,, it will destroy America, and be the death of liberalism along the way.. Having a conservative Supreme Court is the only safeguard America has at keeping the failed "good intentions" of liberals from eating up all the resources of this great country.

L-E headline/story: "Columbus man to be charged with murder in Saturday shooting" * A Columbus man, who was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following a shooting Saturday, will now be charged with murder, according to Columbus police. * Arrested was 42-year-old Reginald G*****. * Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said 33-year-old Marcus B***** of Columbus was pronounced dead at 5:12 a.m. Sunday at Midtown Medical Center. * police were told the two men have been friends since they were children. * According to the Muscogee County Jail’s website, Glenn has at least 10 booking mugshots since May 2003." -- With the age differences.. it seems "odd" to call them "friends since they were children", but there's another fact that asks for more questions:: "According to the Muscogee County Jail’s website, Glenn has at least 10 booking mugshots since May 2003." ... You know.. when one has been arrested and booked at least 10 different time in 13 years,, dealing with that person should have been out of the question..
---
L-E headline.story: "Presidents Day presidential trivia * " -- Wow..talk about Hillary finding a loophole.. then why doesn't she just confess and save the taxpayers a ton of money? On the other hand.. would you vote for someone who couldn't vote for them selves.. and, of course, she could be arrested for voting for herseld=f as a Senator...
