Hagel.... When are Republicans going to realize they are acting like
Pavlov's dogs? pot-US Obluster has set them up to look like nothing he
does/suggests will please them.

McClatchy online story: "The White House has struggled for two years to
strike a balance between its desire to provide free birth control through health
insurance with a need to accommodate the religious freedom of employers who
provide insurance but object to contraception on moral grounds. * Women’s’
groups applauded the move, saying it would ensure that women have access to
contraceptives as part of basic health care coverage. * “The principle is clear
and consistent,” said Cecile Richards, the president of the Planned Parenthood
Federation of America. “This policy makes it clear that your boss does not get
to decide whether you can have birth control.” -- Women have always had a say in
birth control.... "no". Sure, there are violent exceptions, but no woman should
feel she has to be prepared for such.

So Council is going to protest any cutbacks at Ft. Benning. Hope it has
better luck than it did influencing the BRAC to send the full amount that was
hoped for.
---
---
Speaking of such, it seems the numbers of person to be affected by a cut
back are a lot more than Columbus welcomed into the community. The Census
numbers do not reflect this.

Online headline: "Obama: Economic Growth Can Happen In 2013" -- Well, if
you consider growing the debt is growth... you could say that.
---
Online headline: "President Obama Goes Skeet Shooting" -- Skeet? Ooops, my
bad. Thought that was some lesser known slur.
---
Online story: "LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy resigned
Saturday after "breaking the public trust," Gov. Dave Heineman said." -- If only
DUMBERats were as conscientious, the whole country would be better off...we can
wish but there in lies the big difference.

From a fellow BCer:
Maybe it's the hat/helmet thing?

A McClatchy commentator suggest much higher taxes on guns and bullets to
pay for mental health treatments. If liberals want to tax something higher that
kills in spite of government warns to such to pay for mental health treatments,
then tax their cigarettes for that.
---
Do you wonder how much faith you can have in a religion that has decided
that the 10 Commandments are really only recommendations?
---
Are you listening? Auto-manufacturers are suing the EPA for pushing ethanol
fuels for use of engines/fuel systems that were not designed for such, and are
destining the next "clunkers for cash" program. My question is how I can join
the suit to get the value back into my '86 sports car, and my '93 pick-em-up
truck?
---
The L-E had quite an inspirational story of a drug
dealer-turned-college-student/basketball player. Let's pray that the wrong
people don't read it and perpetrate some revenge plan with the knowledge.
---
Liberal's L-E "soundoff": "Sen. Feinstein
just revealed that the crazy Colorado and Connecticut killers fired with fully
automatic guns held at their hips. Why are we only now finding this out? " --
This represents the greatest fear America has to cope with in the future. Up
until now, we've had to deal with the 'low-informed' liberal voter, now a new
subcategory is appearing, the "low MISinformed" liberal voter.
---
You know, I'm proud of the L-E
photography staff... a 1 mile, 5K & 10K race was run downtown yesterday in
barely above freezing weather, and the L-E did not print a picture of a runner
wearing nother but shoes and shorts. There probably were a few (at least one,
anyway), but the L-E refrained from glorifying them.
---
L-E headline/story: " Ike’s playbook *
In dealing with the
Pentagon, Obama should study the lessons from a five-star president *
Once Ike extricated the United States from the Korean War in
1953, he managed to cut the defense budget over his two terms by about a
quarter, from about 70 percent of the federal budget to 60 percent. (Today,
defense is about 20 percent of federal spending.) " -- Let's see.... if pot-US
Obluster wants to study Ike's successes, then he should either triple the
current military budget or cut back the non-military budget by half and get the
country back on the right course.

Hate to hear of the troubles at Westville, but before Columbus Council
commits to supporting Westville, it should re-examine the Confederate Naval
Museum as a tourist draw. It's top-notch but hasn't drawn the numbers dreamed
about.
---
L-E picture of a basketball commemorating CHS's basketball team rolling up
108 points in a game against Willingham in 1964. I remember well as I hit a free
throw for the 100th point which turned the score board totals from 99 to 00 as
there was no provision for any team to score triple digits. Oh, Willingham
scored 90 points in a losing effort. That may be a high school record in itself
for the most points by a losing team.
---
L-E story: "BRUNSWICK, Ga. — On a winter night
nearly 55 years ago, the pilot of a B-47 bomber carrying a nuclear bomb collided
with a F-86 fighter jet at 36,000 feet during a training exercise. * The pilot
was instructed to jettison the nuclear bomb before attempting to land, so he
dropped the weapon into the shallow waters off the Georgia coast, near Tybee
Island, on Feb. 5, 1958. * Despite a search that lasted more than a month, the
bomb, 11 feet long and 3 feet in diameter and weighing more than 7,000 pounds,
was never recovered. The Air Force determined it was "irretrievably lost."--
Feeling something was "irretrievably lost" in 1958 is not "irretrievably lost"
with 2013 technology. New effort should be made to do this now before some
terrorist group or History Channel reality show finds it first.

L-E editorial comment: "The Greater
Columbus Chamber of Commerce warned last week that the post could lose as many
as 7,100 soldiers and civilian employees, along with almost 4,000 spouses and
6,791 children. That could ultimately mean a net loss of almost 9,000 jobs, more
than $342 million in annual income and more than $400 million in annual sales."
-- Losing $400 Million in annual sales would not only immediately effect the
local economy and local employment numbers, but would mean a loss of $8 M to the
City and $4 M to the MCSD in LOST & SPLOST revenues plus our share of the $4
M the T-SPLOST will drain out of the local economy. let's hope Council (and the
GA DOT) has a better grasp of preparation for disappointment than the MCSD board
has shown regarding loss of expected tax revenues.
---
Council wants to spend nearly $2M more on
the 14th Street Bridge for better (?) approach and plaza elements... we can
assume this is mainly for esthetics rather than safety as so many government
construction changes are, but just in case, wouldn't it be cheaper, and more
effective, just for the City to put up a "Watch Your Step" sign?
---
Curiosity makes me ask that since the
rent on the new "City Employees' Health Clinic" is almost $1000.00
cheaper than originally provided for, how does the actual square footage compare
with initially projected needs?
---
L-E story: "ANKARA, Turkey — The suicide
bomber who struck the U.S. Embassy in Ankara spent several years in prison on
terrorism charges but was released on probation after being diagnosed with a
hunger strike-related brain disorder, officials said Saturday." -- So much for
sympathizing with terrorists on health issues. Do we forget that the Lockerbie,
Scotland plane bomber was released by people thinking he had but 3 months to
live? That was in 2009, but he lived until 2012, almost 3 years. Thank heaven he
didn't go out as a suicide bomber.
---
L-E headline: "SUPER BOWL XLVII | 49ers * Culliver to have
sensitivity training" -- Arrggghhhh!!!!! The guy is paid to knock people on
their butts, not to be a politically correct political candidate wannabe. If
"sensitivity training" works, he's gonna be out of a
job...

Hmmm, and what makes pot-US Obluster feel he has the right of office and to pen
Executive Orders?
