HuffPost headline/story: "Justice Dept. Concludes Drone Strikes On Americans Are Legal * WASHINGTON -- A report Monday night on the nature of the administration's drone program has the potential to dramatically revamp the debate over President Barack Obama's foreign policy and the confirmation process for his incoming cabinet. * The report, by Michael Isikoff of NBC News, reveals that the Obama administration believes that high-level administration officials -- not just the president -- may order the killing of “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or an associated force even without evidence they are actively plotting against the U.S. * “A lawful killing in self-defense is not an assassination,” states the Justice Department white paper quoted by Isikoff. * (The 16-page memo) states that the U.S. would be able to kill a U.S. citizen overseas when "an informed, high-level official of the U.S. government" determines the target is an imminent threat, when capture would be infeasible and when the operation is "conducted consistent with applicable law of war principles. * Constitutional experts said the memo's definition doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. Administration critics immediately said the white paper is fresh evidence the president has abandoned his 2008 campaign pledge to recognize and respect the limits of executive power. * Jameel Jaffer of the American Civil Liberties Union called the document "pretty remarkable" and said some of its arguments "don't stand up to even cursory review." He said the paper “only underscores the irresponsible extravagance of the government's central claim.”" -- There are three amazing aspects to this story...NBC broke it, the HuffPost seems to be proud of pot-US Obluster for creating the situation, and the ACLU is not ignoring it.

The Midland, AL hostage situation is resolved.. the child is safe, and the psycho is dead, but here is something I wrote yesterday morning before the actions taken later: You know, with all the espionage and military technology that the general public isn't even aware of, it seems there would be a way, a substance that could put the Midland, AL psycho to sleep that wouldn't harm the child. Surely thermo-heat sensors would let authorities know when the kook is sleeping so some sort of camera could be inserted down the vent pipe to see if booby traps are in play, and whether a plan could made for an extraction type raid through the door.

Back in the mid-80s, Radio Shack had about 7,000 stores. Today, Radio Shack has but 4,400 or so, and 450-550 are scheduled to be closed this year. That's over 10% of its locations which sell desirable & trendy electronics which are on most people's "want" lists. How's that for a positive economic indicator?

---

Payroll taxes up, gas prices up 18 consecutive days, economy contracting, unemployment up, and pot-US Obluster is happy... Why is pot-US Obluster smiling?

---

Seems the investigators into the prostitute scandal surrounding Sen. Menendez couldn't find them in the Dominican Republic. Of course not, they were probably in New Orleans for the Super Bowl season.

Hey, all you middle class taxpayers, grab you wallets and run! pot-US Obluster announced just before the Super Bowl that he needs more revenue. Then he slipped in that "coupled" with smart spending, he could tackle the deficit. pot-US Obluster has no desire to reduce the deficit, so what he wants is more revenue to spend without raising the debt ceiling so soon after the election.

---

Even Chris Wallace has succumbed to the politically correct mentality that has destroyed communication in the media. His chastisement of Wayne LaPierre was a basic kowtow to pot-US Obluster. With all the left-wing hysteria over guns, there was nothing wrong at pointing out the President's hypocrisy of making sure his children went to a school with an armed security staff.

McClatchy headline: "Commentary: Hollywood isn't the place for accurate history, " -- DOH! Even when Hollywood is close to the truth, it will find ways to milk the situation for more money/controversy. Sometimes Hollywood creates alternative endins just in case 'the truth' isn't good enough (attested by many "features" sections on DVDs). Other times it writes in non-events to juice up the message Hollywood wants to make. A great example was "Glory Road". A great story about the 1966 UTEP NCAA champions was injected with severe racial obstacles that never happened because the director wanted it to appear that the team had been severely challenged. Fortunately, a Seattle PI sports writer was a student at the Oregon game depicted, and knew that the movie make up of Oregon's team was wrong. He investigated other incidents, especially the diner bathroom scene and finally got the diorector to admit he made them up. Hollywood didn't care or flinch.

McClatchy commentator finally notices what's going on: "I get it: The national debt of the United States is different from the debt used by the likes of you and me. * Unlike households, businesses, cities and states, the feds can count on a rising stream of tax revenues for interest and principal payments. * The government also guarantees the national debt. So far that’s been ironclad. * And we can — if we have to — print money to pay back our lenders. * Not raising it The National Debt Ceiling)— defaulting and thus ending the debt guarantee — would destroy the special nature of U.S. debt. It would damage the economy and raise borrowing costs for the government and the rest of us. * That’s why the ceiling is always raised, no matter which political party is in power. * Our ever-increasing debt, however, still demands justification. And that burden falls on debt defenders, led intellectually by liberal and left-leaning economists. * To them, the debt is not a moral failing or something to be feared." -- "debt defenders, led by liberal and left-leaning economists...To them the debt is not a moral failing or something to be feared"... You know, if you are gay, even gay supporting (a lot different from being gay tolerant or accepting), you aren't concerned about decisions made today and their long term effects because children and grandchildren are not of concern as is personal gratification. What's important about this commentary is someone a McClatchy has finally opened his eyes.

A fellow BCer alerted me to this yesterday, and everyone needs to express their outrage to our state Reps and Sens. As we speak, this is going on in Athens at the University of Georgia (not an actual function of the school, but staffed by UGA profs, and possibly using university property (but that's hidden): "We've just begun our second academic year! Thanks to our grassroots support, Freedom University defies the Regents' ban on undocumented students, offering rigorous, college-level instruction to all academically qualified students regardless of their immigration status and without fees or tuition. This would not be possible without your help. * Please help us secure our final needs for the fall, and for future classes, by making a monetary or in-kind donation. Please consider ordering a copy of a required textbook from our wishlist. You can also donate online through paypal (links to the right) or mail a check. * Freedom University has 501(c)(3) status under the Economic Justice Coalition, Inc. All donations are tax deductible and will go directly toward course needs.

Online story: "A government lawyer is attempting to get dismissed almost $700 in traffic tickets given to U.S. Postal Service employees in Cleveland, claiming it is immune from state and local regulations, Yahoo! News reported. * Postal Service attorney Jennifer. S. Breslin says the infractions, which include speeding citations and red-light infractions, should be ignored. * “In providing mail service across the country, the Postal Service attempts to work within local and state laws and regulations, when feasible,” she said in a letter responding to a summons for payment, according to Cleveland.com. * “However, as you are probably aware, the Postal Service enjoys federal immunity from state and local regulation,” Breslin wrote." -- What's even sadder than the facts as presented by the USPS attorney is that Fed-Ex and UPS do not have any kind of speeding/red light immunity, and they both beat the socks off the USPS in delivering on time.

Online story: "Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) drew criticism on Monday from a member of his own party when he jokingly compared Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to a monkey in a "tweet". * Ahmadinejad told state media on Monday that he was "ready to be sacrificed by the scientists of my country and go into space," noting that the country plans to send an Iranian astronaut to space within six years. * McCain reacted to the news by citing Iran's recent launch of a monkey into space. * McCain "tweeted": "So Ahmadinejad wants to be first Iranian in space - wasn't he just there last week? "Iran launches monkey into space"" -- Is there a single American who hadn't already thought of that and laughed loudly when Ahmadine-JIHAD said that? This is the evil consequence that extreme political correctness has plagued us with...not being able to have a sense of humor and laugh at a good joke...

Any compromise of moral standards is a win for evil. Once you give an inch to the Devil, the Devil knows he can chip away at your strengths any time he desires. When we compromise, give up a bit of our morals, the other side gives up nothing. Congressional Democrats have chipped away at our morals over the years, and you see what that has created. Write feedback@scouting.org and express yourself.

Liberal's L-E "soundoff": "During the blackout, people at the Super Bowl party I attended had one question: What channel does “Down-ton Abbey” come on? " -- Yeah, and they probably sent someone to the 'frig' to get them another "Ernest&Julius Gallo Lite"
---

L-E's "Today in History" feature: "Ten years ago, Secretary of State Colin Powell urged the U.N. Security Council to move against Saddam Hussein, saying Iraq was harboring terrorists and hiding behind a “web of lies.” -- OH! So it wasn't Bush's Fault after all!

---

L-E headline/story: "Pakistan plans park where bin Laden was killed * PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Pakistani officials say the government plans to build a recreation complex in the town where al-Qaida founder Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S. commandos in 2011. * Syed Aqil Shah, sports and tourism minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said Monday the project in Abbottabad will have a zoo, paragliding club and water sports facilities. It will also have a cultural heritage park. * Shah said the development is part of a revival of recreational and cultural activities in the province. * But Javed Iqbal Abbasi, a lawmaker from the area, hoped the project will improve Abbottabad’s image. *It will cost about $50 million and take five years to build. " -- You can tell Hillary must have been there! The DUMBERat influence has touched Pakistan, and now Pakistan is memorializing a terrorist, with money it'll get from the US, and for something it doesn't need.

---

Now DUMBERats in Congress are hard at work devising laws to legalize marijuana nationally, and establish a $50.00 per ounce tax on it as well as fees for growing, importing, selling it. Yeah, that'll be well accepted by the drug culture. Maybe the DUMBERats will get cigarette manufacturers to gear to make packs for vending machines. I can see the new names now: Winsome, Camel Dung, Tarrylonger, and Benson's Hedge etc.

---

L-E story: "LOS ANGELES — California’s governor has been asked to make the final decision on whether a former Charles Manson follower will be released on parole after serving more than 40 years in prison. * The state’s Board of Parole Hearings submitted to Gov. Jerry Brown its recommendation that Bruce Davis is suitable for parole." -- Personally, I don't think this will happen, because Jerry Brown doesn't want to parole someone who could beat him in the next election....

---

L-E headline: "School lunch’s look changes * Muscogee County School District pushes better nutrition" -- Hmmm, now if we can get the MCSD to push for better grades and graduation rates, students will get something out of their school years.

---

L-E headline: "New UGA president vows active role in athletics " -- That ought to thrill Richt and the football alumni booster club....NOT!
