pot-US 00-Bama was down in Florida this week taking golf lessons. Too bad
he didn't go to Harvard and take business and economic lessons.

Online story: "LOS ANGELES — Dozens of protesters rallied outside Los
Angeles police headquarters in support of Christopher Dorner, the ex-LAPD
officer and suspected killer of four who died after a shootout and fire this
week at a mountain cabin." -- "Dozens of protesters"? How does this constitute a
news worthy mention? Haven't the true racists thrown the racist trump card way
more times than Peter cried "Wolf!"?
---
Onther online California story: "Four California high-school students were
reportedly suspended for chanting “U.S.A! U.S.A!” and wearing American flag
bandanas during a basketball game. While their punishment has since been
rescinded, school administrators said “the incident is far from over.” * “We
wanted to make sure [their actions weren't] racially motivated, and I told the
kids I just want to be sensitive to the feelings of everybody,” *Principal)
Lipman said. “If we’re doing it for patriotism, that’s fine. But if we’re doing
it for something else that’s racially motivated, I’m not going to allow that.”
-- When you look at the video, there's a student section of about 200+ students
of every color/nationality you can think of chanting "USA" in unison. Next time
I hope those students chant "C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A" (Can't Accept Life Is For
Obeying Radical Naysayers In America).

Online headline: "Titanic Replica Drawing Strong Interest" -- Whew...
thought for a second pot-US 00-Bama had announced new plans for his
latest economic 'Stim-You-Lie' program.
---
At 3:00 PM, CBS was to start coverage of a PGA golf event , but there was a
Tenn vs KY basketball game with 5 minutes left so CBS stayed with the game. Tenn
was up 35 points. Was there anyone who doubted the outcome at that point?
Between unnecessary fouls and called time outs and the TV ad time outs, this
awful game, awful "5 minutes" lasted until 3:20. Final score TN 88, KY 58. uh,

Still looking for the answer to the whereabouts of a couple of Columbus
landmarks. One is an old cast iron fountain near the Heritage Plaza that
all-of-sudden-was-missing, and Boris the Stegosaurus. Boris started at the
Museum, then became a median fixture on Broadway, and then it just wasn't.
Anyone have any clues/ideas?

It's nice to see that the GBI is investigating the efficiency of our Fire
Department, but as long as they are investigating a certain event, I hope they
also inquire as to what agency failed to inspect the non-compliant daycare
center. Surely infractions such as more children than authorized, and storing
flammables near a heat source should have been corrected AND reported to the
Fire Marshall at a minimum.

From a L-E story concerning possible safety laxness in our schools:
"Monthly fire drills are also required by the state and those records are
maintained and reported by the principals in the state digital system.” --
Aren't "monthly" fire drills a bit too much? Growing up, we had one, maybe a
second drill each school year (usually one practice drill everyone knew of in
advance, and another with a 'surprise' bell), but then. again. we also had
'nuclear attack' drills where we ducked under our desks. Yeah, like that was
gonna work.
---
Low-info liberal's L-E "soundoff": "If
Ted Nugent were running for president I wouldn’t vote for him because I’m not
that dumb. " -- Oh, there are degrees of 'dumbness' that are OK with you,
including re-electing pot-US 00-Bama?
---
L-E story: "MOBILE, Ala. — An Alabama appeals court has thrown
out the 2009 conviction and death sentence of a man tried for killing four small
children by tossing them off a coastal bridge, ruling that publicity surrounding
the case made it impossible for the suspect to have a fair trial in Mobile where
the crime occurred. " -- Good grief! What a waste of taxpayer resources! This
trial could be delayed 30 years while a special jury was selected from newborn
babies taken away from their families, sequestered in an informational vacuum in
Antarctica, and when the evidence and circumstance were given the jury, the jury
would have ruled tying concrete blocks on the mans legs/arms and throwing him
off that bridge was a suitable sentence.

L-E
headline: "Replacing BTW units could revive Liberty area" -- Maybe, maybe not,
but it sure would revive Veterans Parkway and the Columbus Civic
Center.
---
L-E
headline/story: "Parent-trigger laws pushed in
Georgia, other states * The idea is to allow
parents — and in some cases, teachers — at poorly performing schools to vote on
whether to fire principals, convert a traditional public school to a charter
school or, in some cases, close a school altogether. Typically, a local school
board has final say over changes, but the concept is dubbed the “parent-trigger”
law." -- While I do not think parents should have the ability to 'fire a
principal', I do think the school board should get input from parents. In
reality, parents already have a 'parent trigger' law... it's called "Election
Day". Unfortunately, school board members get re-elected based on politics
rather than community good.

L-E
headline/story: "WAFFLE HOUSE IN ATLANTA ADDS
SECURITY SURCHARGE * Waffle House spokesman
Pat Warner confirmed the fee was added to pay for security. * A sign on the door says all orders will include “a
20 percent property management surcharge” in addition to local sales taxes." --
Hmm, looks to me that the employees are the ones who should be concerned about
'security'... the 'security' of there being a job there the next time they try
to clock in.
---
L-E story: "VERNON
— An Alabama man is suing the city of Vernon and the local police department
months after a jury acquitted him of attempted murder. * The lawsuit says a police officer wrote in an arrest
report that Carr said of the man, “I tried to run over him because I wanted to
kill him,” but the officer later testified in court that wasn’t true." -- Hmmm,
seems like the city of Vernon better investigate the police officer for
collusion or the man's attorney for witness
tampering.
---
L-E-McClatchy exclusive: "As VA struggles, delays and errors greet returning
warriors *
Processing speed jumped from 188 days to complete a
claim to 262 in ’12 * WASHINGTON — The
processing time for disability claims at the Department of Veterans Affairs
worsened in a majority of its regional offices last year, and the VA has
struggled with its much-anticipated plan to correct its problems, according to
two recent audits and a review of department data. " -- Hmmm..................
omen/precursor for 00-BamaCare.....?

When is the
Columbus L-E going to come forth that columnist Karl Douglass is a part
of Congressman Sanford Bishop's campaign staff, and reflects such
biases?
---
Government Agency
ad in the Sunday L-E: "Last year, CCSP (Community Care Services Program from
Medicaid) helped River Valley residents stay independent by providing almost
70,000 meals in Americus and Columbus." -- Good grief! Tax dollars that actually
could be used to help people have been spent on a full page in Columbus (and
probably elsewhere). Having a taxpayer funded agency patting itself on its own
back is the epitome of wasted and totally unnecessary government waste. Besides,
when is providing something at taxpayer expense considered keeping recipients
'independent'?

The state
wrestling championships are in and Columbus's Spencer High wrestler Darren
Sampson was one of the champions. Congrats... but also, what will be the future
in college wresting since the Olympics has eliminated wrestling from the 2020
slate of events? Without an ultimate goal, what will spur development of college
wrestling programs?

Repeat: I, too,
would hate to see charitable donations scrapped as tax deductions, but I do feel
most donors do so out of concern and compassion for their causes, and the effect
would be minimal, but I do not see where the local United Way director needs to
spend/waste donated funds on a trip to Washington. The local United Way is a
dues paying member of a national organization which can carry this torch to
Washington.
---
Repeat: Monday is "Presidents Day" honoring Presidents
Washington and Lincoln. Banks, Federal Government offices/services, and the
Stock Market will be closed. That's appropriate. After all, Presidents Day
honors the honesty of George "I cannot tell a lie" Washington, and Honest Abe
Lincoln.
