Online headline: "Top Cabinet Official Warns: Sequester Will Mean Travel Hell" -- Oh... the memo that government official would now have to travel by commercial coach fare and be TSA-ed before boarding nmust have been received.
---
Online story: "On Friday, Senate Bill 33, which would allow undocumented immigrant students who have attended a Colorado high school and have attended at least three years of schooling in Colorado to receive in-state college tuition rates regardless of their legal status, passed the state Senate." -- Hmmm, the Colorado Legislative 'break room' must now be offering 'recreational marijuana', and now we have no doubt as to what 'they' have been smoking.
---
WRBL3 Columbus story headline: "Home Run King Makes Stop in Columbus" -- What's really sad about this headline is that I had to read the story to see which 'home run king" they were referring to. Between steroids and "*'s", it's hard to keep baseball records straight.
---

Online story: "On Jan. 1, Social Security payroll taxes rose 2 percentage points after a temporary tax cut expired. That sliced about $1,000 from the annual take-home pay of a household earning $50,000. * On Thursday Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) said higher taxes, along with rising gas prices and delayed income tax refunds, were also crimping spending by its customers." -- And that 'expired temporary tax reduction' also added 2 percentage points of expenses to businesses matching FICA payments as well which reduced corporate profits which spur the economy. And count on this, that sincew the unions aren't in Walmart, media and the DUMBERats will shift the blame to the Republicans,

---

Online headline: "Te'o Talks to the Media" -- Yeah, probably wanted to express his grief that his former agent and the agent's grandmother had died this past week.

---

Online headline: "Only State Without Human Trafficking Ban Will Finally Outlaw Practice" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought all states already had laws against bring in DUMBERats across state lines to vote.

---

From the 'only in California' department: "SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- California's workers' compensation system has awarded millions of dollars in benefits for job-related injuries to thousands of professional athletes, * Sports leagues and their insurers are working to stop the practice, which has paid an estimated $747 million to about 4,500 players since the early 1980s, * r Broncos running back Terrell Davis, a former Super Bowl Most Valuable Player, got a $199,000 settlement for injuries related to football. * Among other sports stars receiving settlements were NBA star Moses Malone, who was awarded $155,000, and Dallas Cowboys great Michael Irvin, who received $249,000. * Players, their lawyers and their unions plan to fight to protect these payouts. " -- And 62% of Californians voted for 55 Electoral College votes for potUS 00-BamaCare.

---

Repeat of a couple of days ago: "YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) -- Six underground tanks that hold a brew of radioactive and toxic waste at the nation's most contaminated nuclear site are leaking, federal and state officials said Friday, prompting calls for an investigation from a key senator. * Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said the leaking material poses no immediate risk to public safety or the environment because it would take a while -- perhaps years -- to reach groundwater." -- "perhaps tears"? That's OK in the Governor's eyes? Shoot, and just last week Gov Inslee was boasting about the bumper apple crop this year when other places were having major problems... must be something in the water...

---

An investigation has been ordered to look into the monitoring system of the 6 leaky nuclear refuge tanks in Washington state. Are you as weary, leery, as I am about DUMBERats investigating DUMBERat appointees/program?

I'm going on record, and we should all go on record, for a strong background check to buy guns and ammo. On top of that, that background check should include proof of citizenship, proof of mental stability, and proof of voter authenticity, and car insurance, and be a universal driver's license, and social security number. And along with all the proof of variable aspects of our adult lives, not having one of these lifestyle cards and being caught with while in possession or using a gun should be an automatic death sentence. Just think, 1 card could keep non-citizens, and mentally ill citizens, from owning a gun... and voting.

---

If simply not making "automatic spending increases" will solve the budget sequester situation, what's the problem? The problem is that no government program/department should get automatic annual revenue increases.

---

You know, sequester (as well as most government waste) could be avoided altogether if the White House and Senate had to approve an actual budget each year, and all government departments had to submit an actual budget request each year for approval.

---

A retired marine is trying to raise a veterans' memorial on California public land with private funds. Bureaucrats had denied him use of American flags or the words "United States of America". The flag issue got resolved but Cal DOT is holding firm on using "United States of America" or any words mentioning our branches of military. Hurry 11.0 earthquake, hurry!

---

Bleep Veep Biden says he told his wife that if she heard noises in the house that she should go out on the second floor balcony and (indiscriminately) fire both rounds of her double-barrel shogun into the air. Hope she doesn't hit her neighbors, but also hope she doesn't get arrested for firing off a gun against local laws.

---

potUS 00-Bama says sequester would lay-off 1000s of teachers. Hmmm, the salaries (and hardly a federal budget item) of 1,000 teachers making $50K (sales/benefits) is $50,000,000.00 which would pretty much solve sequester (if you believe potUS 00-Bama is truthful).

---

Remember Bell, CA and it's mayor who paid himself $100+ K to head its 35,000 population? His defense lawyer has filed a lawsuit response that the former mayor was too uneducated to be held responsible. Hmmm, I'll bet most DUMBERat politicians are rewriting their resumes to show they were middle school dropouts.

---

McClatchy online commentary: "Commentary: Investing in preschool is investing in America * President Obama made a pitch for just such a program in his State of the Union Address, but he might as well have requested the moon, lassoed and gift-boxed." -- We already have "Head Start", but show us any improvements in urban test scores, graduation rates, or street gang membership reductions.

Oscar movies... Saw 'Les Miserables' with my wife, and though long, it's male tolerable, and good couples event; saw "Silver Linings Playbook" (cast attraction), almost walked out about halfway, but stayed and it had a warm ending making up for the discouraging first part; have no interest in seeing "Beasts of the Southern Wild" (though the little girl is cute as Shirley Temple) as other than the 5 year old cute girl, I have no idea what the movie is about; "Zero-Dark Thirty"/L\"Lincoln"/"Argo"... just not my cup-o-tea to see Hollywood's interpretation of history, especially as it pertains to potUS 00-Bama propaganda; "Armour".. 80 years olds in decline.. nah.. already git burned by "Hope Springs", "Life of Pi".. was mandatory reading for my kids in high school.. already have the 'skinny'; and "Django Ungained".. a remake of "Mr Smith Goes to Washington" starring Jesse Jackson, Jr in the lead has a better chance of getting my money. Guess my choice for this year's winner is ...None of the Above.

---

Low-info lib's L-E "soundoff": "Mark Sanford, Pete Domenici, Newt Gingrich … the faces of the “family values” party." -- Since I can't call you with a "straight", I'll see & raise that hand with 3 Barney Franks and a pair of Clintons.

---

If Council wants to charge $1.00 per hour for parking downtown, let Council start by charging Government Center employees a minimum of $1.00 per hour to park in the Government Center parking garages (downtown & Columbus Square). Better yet, install those $1.00 per hour meters at Columbus Park Crossing and the Landings, oh. and don't forget at Legacy Chevrolet, Riverside Ford, Headquarter Nissan, Columbus Motors (oh, those are Mercedes-Benz, so make it $2.00 a hour), and at Columbus State as well. Oh! Don't forget all those parked school buses off Whitesville Rd!

---

L-E story: "ATLANTA — Lobbyists spent about a third less money on Georgia’s state senators in the month after the chamber imposed limits, though it remains unclear whether the new rule alone can be credited for the change. * An analysis of spending by The Associated Press shows that lobbyists spent more than $91,300 on Senate lawmakers in the one-month period after the Senate passed its rule on Jan. 14, a decrease of roughly 35 percent compared with the same period last year." -- Hmmm, let's see who the Atlanta Restaurant, Hotel, & Bar Associations run against our man Josh McKoon.

---

Does the group that decides whether the crime rate in Columbus is up or down ever read the L-E?

---

L-E headline: "Convicted bomber publishes book from prison * Government pledges to seize any profits earned by Eric Rudolph" -- How stupid can government get? Profits. smofits... good accounting will dissolve any so-called "profits", and backdoor dividends will find their way to Randolph. The only way to stop such publications is to confiscate any revenue the publisher gets from publishing the book in the first place!

---

L-E story: "OPELIKA, Ala. — A sheriff in eastern Alabama is targeting vandals by placing hidden cameras in rural cemeteries. * A few months ago, the sheriff’s department began hiding dozens of surveillance cameras in several rural cemeteries in the area. He says the cameras have already helped make some arrests. " -- More government stupidity! Now that the "hidden surveillance cameras" are no longer a secret, expect the black market to be flooded with night-capable video cameras.

---

I wish the United Way info would talk about the amounts actually received (versus 'pledged') and about the administrative costs of fundraising that doesn't get to the programs listed.

---

Karl "I work for Sanford Bishop" Douglass talks about change and unfreeze today (but not necessarily in that order). The real unfreeze we need is for government to stop feeling it's main role is as a parent; and change is for charity to be put back in the hands of the individual. This nation only thrives when all people who are able take on personal responsibility.

From City Attorney's Agenda: " An ordinance amending Article XXI of Chapter 2 of the Columbus Code to provide that members of the Employee Benefits Committee do not have to be residents of Columbus; and for other purposes. (Councilor Judy Thomas)

An ordinance amending Article XX of Chapter 2 of the Columbus Code to provide that members of the Retiree Health Benefit Committee do not have to be residents of Columbus; and for other purposes. (Thomas) -- Wait a minute.. we should be having new laws making all employees of the City of Columbus live in Muscogee County so they are contributing taxes to their own benefit as well as everyone else in Columbus.

---

Now Pistorius's lawyer is claiming the death was 'an accidental shooting". One pull of a trigger might fit in with an 'accidental' scenario, but not 4 with different shot locations to cover all possibilities.
