Harry Reid..... What a sorry politician, even for a DUMBERat. He's chastising Republicans for spending time with their families and not being in Washington. Funny thing is why would he even want them there. The House has sent him bills and budgets that he won't even bring up on the floor of the Senate, so why do they need to be back this week?

---

Online story: "The Senate rejected three attempts Thursday to add oversight and privacy safeguards to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) amendments that authorize the warrantless wiretapping program begun under President George W. Bush, but delayed a final vote on the measure until Friday. * The program, which the Bush administration started without congressional authorization shortly after the Sept. 11 attacks, collects intelligence on Americans who are communicating abroad with foreign "targets" designated by spy agencies like the CIA and National Security Agency * While conceding that the bill could use some oversight improvements, Sen. Dianne Feinsten (D-Calif.), the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, urged passage of the bill without alteration to avoid prompting both a fight with the House of Representatives, which has already passed a "clean," unamended version of the bill, and also the program's expiration. * Feinstein did not elaborate on how the program, which authorizes year-long searches, would be interrupted by expiration. But pointing to a long list of interrupted terror plots since 9/11, she added that "There is a view of some that this country no longer needs to fear attack. I don't share that view." -- Hmmm, "There is a view of some that this country no longer needs to fear attack"...wonder if the "some" work in the White House and State Department? Either way, it looks like we would be safer if Harry Reid had stayed home and played with his family than come back to Washington early.

---

The above demonstrates how contrary Senator Reid and the DUMBERats are. The FISA bill the DUMBERats just voted down is the verbatim bill that they voted for last time. Guess they 'proudly' stand up and say they were 'for' the bill before they were 'against' the bill. Of course, chance are that none of them actually read the bill before voting.

Online headline: "Clinton To Return To Work Next Week" -- She shouldn't be allowed to step foot in her office or advise on policy without a written note from her doctor, and only after testifying in the Benghazi hearings.

---

Bentley, owned by Volkswagen since 1998, just fired its chaplain for fear of alienating its non-Christian customers. --- Well, with marketing primarily to the 1% (plus overpaid Hollywooders and professional sports stars), Bentley might better rehire that priest to pray that pot-US Obluster doesn't collapse that market.

---

Nearly 9 million people collected SS Disability checks in December... another new record for pot-US Obluster's legacy. SSI is not what Seniors paid into and collect.

---

350,000 new unemployment filings. Lower than expected, but still on an 18 million annual rate. Oooops! Then a disclaimer was mentioned. Seems Monday was a Fed (and many states followed suit) holiday, and a lot of those were not reporting... Why wasn't this tidbit the emphasis of the report?

---

Where does Harry Reid get off telling anyone else that John Boehner is putting his own career ahead of the rest of the country? Reid has intentionally tabled all the House bills on the economy, and has yet to.produce a budget in the last 3+ years.

---

We don't have "foxes guarding the henhouse", we have " gluttons guarding the refrigerator". Not my analogy ( a Fox News guy), but It's worthy to pass on.

---

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is blasting the thought of putting armed guards in the schools, yet he sends his children to a school that already employs armed guards. There's something about DUMBERat leaders just not wanting their voters to have the same equality.

---

Remember reading "Animal Farm" in high school? "ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS." Hmmm, guess the DUMBERat leaders are 'donkeys' and their minions are 'jackasses'.

---

Made another error when I said at least one of the State Department 4 was still getting paid... ALL 4 are still working and still on the payroll! This already happens in the NYC school system when a teacher is laid off; wouldn't be a bit surprised to see GM adopt the same policy for all their union workers.

---

Looks like the DUMBERats have backed themselves right into Br'er Rabbit's briarpatch. For years they have loathed the tax cuts pushed through by Bush43, and now they can blame Republicans if they expire. Hmmm, tears... well, crocodile tears at best.

---

Clegg's Fireworks.....didn't know we had a choice other than the "Bang-Bang" & "Boom-Boom" wimmin. Happy New Year!

---

So much for the TV volume "spikes" going away. Several cable channels seem to have lowered their broadcast volume for shows which means when the show cuts to ads the ad volume is already "up" and blaring.

---

Is it any wonder that by government creating inner city poverty centers with entitlement programs that the drug culture has thrived?

---

Justice Sotomayor just denied a Christian organization its right to exercise its religious rights concerning birth control by contradicting her stand concerning a Muslim prisoner's right to have a Ramadan meal served in prison.

---

Signed up for "Inaugural Updates" at barackobama.com, and dang if the guy is still asking for campaign donations. Does he ever turn off his campaign mode?

Online story: "Breaking with past practice, and changing the financial rules he, (Warren Buffett) laid down, Berkshire is buying back its own stock -- and plans to keep buying back its stock at any price up to and including 1.2 times "book value." * Remember, Berkshire's biggest "problem" most years is figuring out what to do with all its money. The company is sitting on $47.8 billion in cash right now. With banks paying 0.1 percent interest, he can't afford just to sit on it, though. He's got to invest it in something." -- Hmmm he's gotta invest it in "something"..... isn't this the same guy that feels he doesn't pay enough in taxes? pot-US Obluster wants him to "invest" in government spending by paying more in taxes, so will pot-US Obluster look at this as Buffett abandoning the ship? Anyway, looks like Buffett has just told the world, he's satisfied with what he owns, and doesn't see anything else out there to spend $47.8 Billion to acquire.

Online story: "WASHINGTON, Dec 27 (Reuters) - The United States said on Thursday it was suspending operations at its embassy in the Central African Republic as rebels appeared poised to move on the capital of the impoverished but resource-rich nation.

Central African Republic

In this Sunday, April 29, 2012 file photo, the town of Obo is seen from the air in the Central African Republic. (AP Photo/Ben Curtis, File) -- We have American tax dollars paying for an Embassy building here? The Ambassador must really be on pot-US Obluster's and Clinton's "s**t list".

Not really a Hollywood insider, but this struck me sober:

HuffPost story: "Jennifer Lopez got some bad news just in time for the new year. * A judge has sided with Lopez’s onetime chauffeur Hakob Manoukian, who started the legal battle when he sued the 43-year-old singer for wrongful termination and breach of contract. Manoukian claimed he'd been forced out of the job after Lopez's manager Benny Medina berated him in public and stripped him of certain responsibilities. * In turn, Lopez countersued, claiming that Manoukian had tried to extort her for $2.8 million or he would go public with confidential information about the singer that could have her criminally prosecuted." -- Whoa! Looks like J.Lo has let her own cat out of the bag. Hope the Hollywood and Federal DA's have taken note of her confession.

L-E story: "The part-time Muscogee County School District security officer who allegedly was driving an MCSD pickup truck that killed a pedestrian and sent another to the hospital Dec. 15 has been charged with second-degree homicide by vehicle and failure to maintain lane, Columbus police Lt. Tony Danford said Thursday. * Muscogee County School District communications director Valerie Fuller said Dec. 18 that Johnson was working a scheduled shift from midnight to 8 a.m. at the time of the accident, but his departure point and destination are unclear. She also said Johnson still was working in the district’s security office but not in a “mobile capacity.” -- Hmm, Johnson was a "part-time" employee driving a 2012 MCSD truck at 6:35 AM on a Saturday, and the MCSD has no idea where he was leaving from or going to, and the MCSD still has him part-time employed answering the phone in the MCSD Security office? This as worse than the State Department handling of their employees involved with Benghazi.

---

A previous Council and Mayor should be charged with aiding and abetting the death of Mrs Williams. Huh, you say? Look at the pictures and note that the sidewalks are basically only extensions of the roadway as there aren't any curbs separating the road from the sidewalk. Unfortunately, there are scores of similar sites throughout Columbus.

---

L-E headline: "Top L-E stories of 2012 Online * LITTLE LEAGUE FIGHT IS NO. 1" -- With all the turmoil of local lawyers being found violating their oaths, with all the drug-related crimes/busts/deaths, and with the 'revelation' that the MCSD SPLOST shortages will be a nightmare for the future, two adults acting badly at a Little League game topped the L-E priority list of problems in Columbus. Pitiful!

Liberal's L-E "soundoff": "How many teachers would have to be put on permanent leave to finance armed guards in our schools?" -- Liberals only think of themselves, and for the moment... The question should be how important is it that our schools are safe for teachers as well as students. One armed guard per school would only work a daily 8-hour shift, 5 days a week for 36 weeks a year. Of course his Obamacare cost could make that less affordable, but safety is the issue. Of course, a better solution would be for teachers to be trained and armed and that wouldn't cost extra.

---

Another L-E "soundoff" of note: "The liberals want to get rid of the Second Amendment by using the First Amendment." -- Yep... without the 2nd Amendment, government could easily void the rest of the 1st Amendment... they've pretty well eliminated Christians from exercising their rights to live by their religion.

---

Another liberal's L-E "soundoff": "Isn’t it strange that Republicans who support guns everywhere for everyone didn’t allow guns in their last two national conventions? " -- Hmmm, bet the Republicans had armed and trained non-government security throughout the facility so individual guns were not necessary.

---

From the L-E's "Today in history" feature: "In 1987, a mass killing came to light as the bodies of 14 relatives of Ronald Gene Simmons were found at his home near Dover, Ark., after Simmons shot and killed two other people in Russellville. (Simmons was executed in 1990.) " -- All murders should be executed as quickly (or even quicker) as this one so the death sentence is actually a deterrent to prevent others from doing the same.

---

L-E story: "PHOENIX — Military-style semi-automatic rifles have been used in at least four high-profile shootings in the past year. Bushmaster variations of the weapon have been used in two recent attacks, including the Newtown, Conn., school shootings and the Christmas Eve ambush slayings of two New York firefighters. While commonly called the AR-15, Colt and Armalite have been the only companies to make weapons by that specific name. Many other manufacturers, however, now sell similar versions of the rifle largely styled after the military’s fully automatic M-16." -- Note that these are "military-style semi-automatic rifles", not automatic military rifles. I guess libs think buying a Cobra kit car package designed to cover a VW frame makes the result a fully functional Shelby Cobra.

---

L-E story: "A surge in jobs last month, combined with a decline in new unemployment claims, helped put a dent in the Columbus metro area’s jobless rate in November. * The Georgia Department of Labor reported Thursday that the local rate in November was 8.3 percent, down from 8.7 percent in October. That’s also lower than the 8.5 percent rate posted in November a year ago." -- Government spinmeisters are the worst at telling the truth... any surge in November and December hiring rates are mainly the part-time holiday related jobs that mainly disappear in the January figures. Reporting such an indicator of an improving economy id pure folly.

---

Is it just me, but didn't the Georhgia cities with the highest November unemployment percentages all vote for pot-US Obluster... again?

---

L-E story: "LONDON — Tens of thousands of people have signed a petition calling for British CNN host Piers Morgan to be deported from the U.S. over his gun control views. * Morgan has taken an aggressive stand for tighter U.S. gun laws in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting. Last week, he called a gun advocate appearing on his “Piers Morgan Tonight” show an “unbelievably stupid man.” * The petition has already hit the 25,000 signature threshold to get a White House response. By Monday, it had 31,813 signatures. Morgan seemed unfazed — and even amused — by the movement . * “If I do get deported from America for wanting fewer gun murders, are there any other countries that will have me?” he wrote." -- If a petition will work for doing this, why not petitions to obliterate Chicago, LA, New York, Washington, D.C., Miami, Atlanta which would really put a dent in the number of murders.
