Yesterday was a tough day for me, too. Two dear and special people in my life passed. Sue Marie Turner, gracious and inspirational lady, and Jerry Smith, a former basketball teammate, left this world for their reward.

Special note about Jerry Smith.. he was the only guy I have known that could drive the lane, leave his feet, and if some one rushed to get in front of him, Jerry could still change directions and go around him. He is on my all-time "5".

Hmmmm.. Mayor Obamalinson just suspended her executive assistant for some non-successful political prank.. What is it with Democrats in office... when their appointees/employees get caught doing unethical things, they get suspended rather than fired. All I can surmise is that the powers-that-be may be connected to the deed, and don't want a disgruntled messenger telling "the rest of the story".

We have reports of expressway shootings all over Columbus, and our media seems oblivious.. The latest happened Wednesday afternoon which was "too late" for inclusion in the Thursday L-E print edition (staff must leave earlier enough to get the Senior "early bird" Specials at local restaurants), and I personally haven't heard anything on WTVM or WRBL. Guess they believe Mayor Obamalinson's press releases that Columbus is crime free.

A dream to restore the Chattahoochee River to it's natural beauty started materializing around 14/15 years ago.. it took root in the community, and interest slowly grew. It got exciting to visualize the unfettered flow of the river and the rebirth of a wildlife haven. Then it happened.. great plans turned into a race to build an amusement park.. As much concrete has been poured into the river as was removed. Control devices were built into the currents so it would not run naturally as it had in the past. Now another amusement ride will traverse the river 60' high. Gosh, isn't the bird population going to love zip-liners invading its space. Hey, how about adding another amusement opportunity on the RiverWalk,and the Dillingham & Frank Martin bridges.. shooting stations.. surely somebody can figure out how to make some money letting people bring their guns down and shoot at moving targets on rafts, kayaks and the zip-line.

What is it about Illinois and politics? 2 former governors are in jail, and 2 former terrorist prisoners are teach their wares in Illinois college. Bill Ayers you know about, but also J(_*_)mes Kilgore. Kilgore was part of the Symbionese Liberation Army that kidnapped Patty Hearst. He also killed a woman in 1975, fled the country, was caught and extradited from South Africa in 2002, convict, served only 6 years, and now gets hired at another Illinois college. One of the trustees actually has spoken out against him but 300 professors countered with a petition, and Kilgore is still teaching. Forget this is in Illinois, we are under siege here. We even have a convicted molesting teacher trying to get a new trial because the credibility of her victim wasn't scrutinized by her previous lawyer. Good grief..the character of the teenage boy wasn't the issue. She was a predator in a supervisory job.

The heavyweight Democrats are out in force poo-pooing what the Republicans are doing about the Benghazi & IRS. These pundits are claiming how damaging this will be for the Republicans in November. Truth is, that if this was going to damage Republicans, then why are the Democrats so concern to help Republicans? They KNOW that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Me? If I were a Democrat and thought Republican antics would hurt them, I'd be encouraging them to keep going.
