Online headline: 'NBC Apologizes For Omitting 'Under God' From Pledge Of Allegiance" -- An apology is not enough. You know this was as intentional as it gets by the fact that NBC was standing on ready to issue its apology. I saw it as obviously a tsunami of of others who must have clogged the NBC phone and internet complaints.

L-E's " Thought for Today": “The art of progress is to preserve order amid change and to preserve change amid order.” — Alfred North Whitehead, English philosopher and mathematician (1861-1947). -- Would love to hear Emperor O'Bozo explain how he interprets this.

L-E story: "WASHINGTON — As President Barack Obama nears a decision on an Afghanistan troop withdrawal, his retiring defense secretary says he doesn’t believe the Taliban will engage in serious talks about ending their fight until they are under extreme military pressure. " -- Oh, and telling the Taliban when we are leaving is 'pressure' to make it want to seriously talk about ending the fight? O'Bozo's military expertise is no better than his economic plan...unless he's intentionally trying to lose on both fronts.

The more you think about it, the more you have to wonder, not only why, but what was the motive for the hatchet job on the Lumpkin family in Sunday's edition. No doubt the story was sad, even tragic (or even possibly stupid), but it was still a private issue, and not worthy of such character assassination as was the L-E's only plausible reasoning to run such. Have home subscriptions diminished to the point that the L-E is trying to get a position on the racks at the check out counters of local grocery stores?

L-E headline: "3 arrested in prostitution deal, robbery gone bad" -- What's Mr Hernandez-Silva's gripe? He asked for a "sexual act" and he got screwed.
---
L-E headline: "Georgia cracks down on teacher certification " -- About time! In fact, Georgia legislators should examine the blanket approach to 'rewarding' all advanced degree 'bumps' in salaries, because not all positions are necessarily better off with someone with an advanced degree. For an analogy, how would an MBA benefit clients at a routine tax preparation service any more than a preparer with a degree in bookkeeping or a CPA degree? In a few cases, there could be a user gain, but the vast majority of users would not benefit.
